FDR was one of the worst Presidents we've ever had -- and it's not just because of the New Deal, like most conservatives say.

General Patton said in one of his final speeches “I hate to inform you but we have defeated the wrong enemy, we should have fought with the Fascist against the communist”

Thank you for making that criticism. If you want to go with what is wrong with FDR try this on for size this. Jews were also trying to get into America because of the holocaust and he would not allow them to enter this country.

Most likely because he wanted to remain as neutral as possible. However this wouldnt make sense since he hated the nazis

I have no respect for FDR and no love for the Soviet Union but Operation Unthinkable (code name of the plans for a hypothetical post-war engagement with the USSR) was truly unthinkable and the idea that the West would have just nipped that little commie problem at the bud is laughable. The Red Army of 1945 was not the disorganized, underequipped, and under-supplied force that was nearly steamrolled in 1941 by Barbarossa. It was a massive juggernaut with modern equipment (some of that surpassing equivalent Western systems) and a battle-hardened core of veterans from the junior NCO-level to the General Staff. The territory of the USSR was back under full control and the factories were operating at full capacity so Lend-Lease which had been so crucial during the early years was no longer necessary for the Soviets to maintain their forces at full operational and strategic capability. This hypothetical war would have introduced new problems that the Soviets would need to counter, for instance carpet bombing at strategic depth, but the same goes for the Western Allies who by 1945 had not operated in a contested tactical airspace for nearly 3 years and who had never operated in a contested airspace at the scale the Soviets did for nearly the duration of the war. There were many more such problems both sides would have had to work out and Unthinkable is a highly interesting thought exercise but it would have been a terribly awful affair with casualties that would beggar the imagination. Despite the deleterious effects that Soviet communism had for the next 45 or so years, the effects of the titanic struggle and bloodshed in this hypothetical war would have been far worse.

If FDR was pro-Soviet then he would fit right in with today's MAGA Republicans.

should've crushed them when we had the chance? yeah good strategy then we would've lost the war 👍. teaming up with the USSR was the best decision we could've made consider they literally saved the world.

VINCEdication on behalf of my great grand father (according to family tradition, he despised FDR despite living in a county that gave 90% support to that guy)
