I would love to share my story to your viewers.
I had two claims back to back in November, and December, one was for a roof claim, and the other was for a pipe burst claim, both of which were covered under the insurance policy. Long story short as an insurance, agent myself, I had to go through appraisal and report my adjuster and the insurance company to Texas Department of insurance for deceptive claims practices and bad faith
On the roof claim, they would not cover new decking under my code upgrade coverage unless I had the city come out and red tag (code violation) my house while I’m still living in it in order to show proof that the decking needed to be replaced. I sent them copies and snips of the IRC codes and they still said no we’re not going to pay for it and then it was my responsibility even though I had $36,000 in code upgrade coverage on my policy per claim.
On the second claim, for the pipe burst, I saw their initial estimate and knowing a little bit about building instructions and repair/replacement processes, they missed about half of my original wood floors that are now warped and damaged, because the pipe burst flooded my crawlspace , and when I pointed it out to them that they missed about $60-$70,000 in repairs, they said OK let’s go ahead and stop payment on the initial estimate and instead of sending a supplement for repairs, we’re going to send out an engineer that will refute everything you just said and with the two claims, they now say that all the damage, even though I have photographs and videos of the damage occurring in real time, was due to lack of maintenance or improper construction.
I will be putting up a RUclips and TikTok series of my experiences once I’ve gone through the appraisal process unless you would like to feature me on your show as a licensed insurance agent and Adjuster for a major insurance company.

Damn that's crazy bro. I've always wondered how insurance agents playing the game were treated by insurance on their personal claims. If they received special treatment or something like that. But seems like that's not the case! Sorry to hear man...

@@buildingwithjosue 100%. we have to be treated the same and most insurance companies have a team dedicated to insurance employees. For example, if you work for state farm, they have an internal team within state farm that handles state farm employee claims. same with geico, liberty, travelers, and so on. it is so you cannot have a bias adjuster that would influence your claim one way or another.
Second, we are treated with more scrutiny in our claims because we know what to say, how to say it, and when to say it as well as knowing exactly what is in our policies that, for some of the bad apples, can take advantage of the claims process and commit insurance fraud.
just like in retail... at most places, they are not watching the customers, they are watching the employees. When I was a corporate trainer for a major retail company, they showed that every month across the country, the average theft (in 2013) was about one 40' truck load per month committed by customers, same time frame, 4 truckloads per month were done by employees.
As an update, I am going through the appraisal process right now and the appraisers will be here on 8/3 which i will film and upload when the check clears and repairs are done

Brother Dimitriy, I am new to the roofing inspector industry I am a new inspector, I want to thank you for your insight and wisdom cuz it is right on time, but I do not want to pull the race card but as a Black man in this industry I have ran into a lot of political supporters or as I can say people who voted for the other guy, I don't know if it's me as a Black man but seeing your video has changed my perspective now I know how to approach people with a certain type of ignorance, I just wanted to give my feedback as this industry you will run into those type of people, but this video has really shown me how to approach the situation and assess them, thank you for the straightforward information that's needed, I hope this feedback helps anyone who has a situation or finds themselves in a neighborhood or around people who have ignorance do to skin color, it takes tough skin to win 💯

DUDE… Just be your honest self and stop watching TV. No one gives 2 craps about your color. Be transparent, informative and dont speak in circles. Give straight answers. I hate idiots who show up assuming I can be bullcrapped into whatber they are selling. Imwill listen, smile and never call you again. It is nasty to feel like someone is trying to treat you as a dumb dumb. One example: guy shows up to give me estimate and he shows mema dent in one of the vents outside and tells me how he couldmwrite that up for me and it would be 500 bucks that can cover my deductible… that is shady stuff and A red flag. I smiled let him putnsigns in my yard and then promotly removed them. I do not deal with shady shit. Not to mention he said he would give me an estimate and at the emd he said its better if he sees my claim first. I am not going to sit there and lecture those idiots. Smiled and waved his ass goodbye. People pick up on dishonest crap. The color thing is bs. I live in the whitest part of my area and trust me no one gives 1 fig about your color. Thats just what CNN want you to have in your mind constantly. Sure there might be some nut ags who wear sheets somehwere but not here and you wont be getting not getting a job on account of skin color. Honesty and transparency is your best bet! Those 2 will gain you the right customers!

Dimitri, I specialize in collision damage and have followed your videos for while. I’d like to chat about repairs and insurance claims with you if you’re interested. The roofing industry and the collision industry are almost identical in the way property damage claims are handled and roofers and collision repairers face very similar struggles.
The name of my company is Forensic Collision Claims. Keep fighting the good fight and reach out soon!

A simple question I often times ask my clients when they're told to look for 3 estimates from their adjuster: Would you rather pay $1,000 for a $9,000 roof, or pay $1,000 for a $15,000 roof? Because at the end of the day homeowner is paying the same amount of money regardless of RCV.

    …..yep.
More often than not we are absorbing a couple line item omissions to simply take care of our customers,
We’re always gonna leave it better than we found it and many times just bite the bullet and get it done, get paid & move on - wary of the arguments/tactics/ of carriers and the drawn out process…..
    Aggravating

I am a homeowner and I am confused, I just had my roof replaced by my insurance company, now they do not want to pay what Xactimate shows. The roofer must do the job to the current code so now they are arguing about the amount they (the Insurance Co.) owes the roofer thru me! I have been threatened with a lien against my house if I don't help the roofing Co. I wish I had never gone thru insurance.

Also, I've noticed that sometimes adjusters have their limited authority for what they can approve without supervisor approval. So in the case from the story in the video, Adjuster may have had authority for up to $10k, so he intentionally wrote it for $9k to get it off his desk and let someone else handle the supplement. I've run into this situation a number of times.

My average cost increase after supplement..so I’m talking high and low supplements is about 20% on every claim.
So imagine if every claim had O&P is essentially how I look at it with my claim approvals. Lots of money youre missing out on if you aren’t supplementing.

If roofing company doesn’t know how to supplement by now, they are allowing the insurance companies to keep money that should go to them. 30 to 40 percent is a lot of money to leave on the table for the insurance to keep 😂

I disagree that outsourcing your estimating is the answer. Why would a biz owner allow a third party control their revenue and profits?

    • @RoofingInsights3.0
      @RoofingInsights3.0  Год назад

Depends on size. If someone does $1-3 million per year it will only add to overhead to add supplementor to the team. Cheaper to outsource. But once you do $3-5mm steady it makes sense. But even companies who do $10-15mm- use third parties those months they have too many claims to handle. It’s simple transaction. You get 30% increase for fraction of the cost. Makes financial sense
