5:43 and 44:01 you can see the Mudokon hands only have 3 fingers in the japanese version while in the western version they have 4. In some cutscenes of the japanese version the 4th finger is still there though.
5:40 also the japanese version "mudokon pops" shown on screen is a cartoony version of the supposed commercial of the product (which it became the official commercial in later remakes). If you watch the western version of this cutscene the "mudokon pops" is a raw severed mudokon head on a stick. At the time Abes Oddysee was going to be released in Japan a shocking news occurred there, a Japanese student killed a schoolmate, cut his head and hang it on a stick in front of his school. That is why Japan had to replace that image.
