Next to vegas, Bakersfield is one of the most vile places I have ever been to! I remember staying there, ironically on the way to Vegas with my mom in the 80s. We stayed at a motel and as we were checking in they were bringing a dead body down the stairs by the corners. The room we stayed in was infested with roaches even in the dresser drawers and then the next morning when I was swimming, I looked up under the water and the entire top of the pool was swarmed with wasps and I didn't know how to get up so I could breathe. Don't remember what happened after that but I assumed I blacked out
