Wallahi I started praying thanks to this video from Muhammad Hoblos. It sat in my mind for so long I knew what a huge sin not praying is and it just broke me and I started to pray. By that logic their video could be considered anti muslim because someone could understand it as such and act violently against muslims. The point I took from the video was "wow not praying is a HUGE sin I need to start praying asap" so why does he assume that the point that everyone would take would be "I can do anything as long as I pray"? Aba has always had a disregard for religion, especially Islam, as his family is Ethiopian Muslim. Neither Aba nor Preach use objective truths to define their points; they just base their opinions on what society at large deems to be right (subjective popular opinion). So they miss the mark every time when discussing religion. Don't expect them to make intelligent points backed by objectivity or separating their biases.

Yes and we have limited knowledge, I don’t think we should publicly declare praying while committing major sins is better than not praying in the eyes of Allah(SWT). Unless there is a direct Hadith that says this.
And it encourages people to keep sinning and be content with it, when we should strive to stop sins and do our best. Nobody is sinless but we should strive to stop and do our best.
Also his examples don’t make sense because someone who takes intoxicants such as drinking/drgs - their prayers are not accepted for 40 days, and if they pass in this state they will go to Jahannam.
So how is them “praying” better than someone not.
Also there is a Hadith about a woman who prayed day and night, but treated people terribly and was not a good person. It said her prayers were wasted.
Also the punishment for “Grpe” and adultery are D-penalty.

Bro. I've had this sent to me before. Hoblos is using wrong analogies to drive the point home of the importance of prayer. There is a hadith of a lady that treats her neighbors in a malicious fashion; yet she prays, fasts, give in alms, etc. The Prophet (pbuh) said hell will suffice for her. This negates his stupid analogies. Worshiping God is not just through prayer alone, its through all actions, or your prayers are invalid & not accepted due to a polluted soul that sanctifies itself like an Antinomianist presuming atonement. It is Allah (swt) who gives sanctity to His/Its servants. NOT the ego! His analogies are trash because he's always emotional & extremely animated.

To say that the person who abandons prayer is worse than the one who sheds blood (for example) does not mean the one who sheds blood is “better”, let alone exempt. The condemnation of murder is very firm in the Quran, and every Muslim who properly understands the Quran understands this too.
The point of his speech is to demonstrate the condemnation of not praying, which is separate and has no effect on the condemnation of murder.
Maybe one could say “I don’t see why refusing to pray is so evil”. But now this is a different point altogether, necessitating the question of why that is so and on what basis something is considered good and evil, and to what extent.

In Islam we have Law and Order, the greatest sin in Islam is failling to fulfil God's rights, but as bad is falling to fulfil the rights of people under God.
Those who make mistakes, repent and stop doing evil are better than those who never repent and stop doing evil because they will never heal and be healed.

That is a very wrong comparison he made and has given enemies of Islam to use this to turn people against Islam by spreading this clip. He needs to make another video to clear this misconception.

A person who prays 5 x will make mistakes, have weaknesses etc. But he won't actively be an active sinner doing alot of haraam...the two do not mix...unless his prayers are mostly movements and not spiritual worship!

Thank you brother Ali. I as a Muslim didn't just understand Hoblos when he said it but I also felt it and believe it has positively impacted my life and my daily decisions. I see the lecture (the entire video) as more suited for Muslims than non-Muslims. This point of view of Aba and Preacher is only because they are not believers and you're right to explain to them. Jazakalla khair

So we have this charming verse from the Quran (25:70): "Except for those who repent, believe and do righteous work. For them Allah will replace their evil deeds with good." Quite the spiritual laundering service, isn't it? And our scholarly friends assure us this is the height of divine mercy.
The esteemed Imam al-Ghazali even tells us, "The one who repents from sin is like one who has no sin." How convenient! I suppose Ted Bundy could've popped into a mosque, said "my bad," and presto - serial killer to saint!
But let's consider the evidence, shall we? History is littered with the corpses of the righteous, slain by those who later found God. I'm sure that's a great comfort to the victims - "Don't worry, dear, your murderer's now scored points with the Almighty."
It's a cosmic accounting trick that would make Enron blush. One moment you're drowning in sin, the next you're drowning in virtue - all without lifting a finger to actually right your wrongs. It's not just that the scales of justice are tipped; they've been tossed out entirely for a system that would make even the most corrupt judge say, "Hang on, that's a bit much."
But who are we to question? After all, it's so much easier to erase misdeeds with a celestial eraser than to actually grapple with the messy reality of human actions and their consequences. Why bother with all that pesky personal growth and genuine atonement when you can just flip a spiritual switch and - voila! - you're bathing in divine brownie points.
It's not justice; it's barely even coherent. But I suppose when you're in the business of selling afterlife real estate, you need a good returns policy. Shame on you Ali dawah 😑

    Salam aleikum from Mali.
I’d say there should always be wisdom when arguing in matters of religion . The worst sins are unambiguously stated in the Quran as being the shirk and kufr. You dont need to leave those out and go bristling over anything else …even leaving prayer becomes worst only when it’s based on kufr rather than on negligence and washiness. Murder is in the upper worst sins … as mentioned in the Quran … : killing one innocent soul is like killing all the people; whoever kills a believer outside of justice or error Allah will be angry at them- curse them - and condemn them to hellfire; those who kill the prophets and kill those who enjoin the people to do justice will be awaited with a grievous punishment in hellfire. So, any sin that incur Allah’s anger, his curse and condemnation to hell in one shot shouldn’t be compared (as paling) to show the grievousness of another sin (except for shirk).
Moreover, why should we prefer that rough penal perspective of comparing sins (with risk of being taken out of context) rather than comparing the merits of good deeds? For exemple, why not put this way: saving lives, avoiding zina etc.. all have lesser merits compared to upholding good prayer… meaning prayer would be a superior virtue. You dont want to be just a stern warner ..but also giver of glad tidings. Didn’t The Prophet (ﷺ) say, "Make things easy for the people, and do not make it difficult for them, and make them calm (with glad tidings) and do not repulse (them ).” ?

You and your pretentious Imam are dead wrong!
You cannot rationalise the position of that maniac who masquerades as an Imam! And when you try to rationalise that position, you somehow make the impression of trying to justify what he claims, that “praying and sinning” is better than “not praying and not sinning”!
Nothing can be far removed from the Quran and Sunna tradition than that position which some so called Imam hold!

Those are nearly impossible scenarios in practical life but they emphasize the point. If one doesn't pray, they practically don't recognize God. The same way you have a friend but do nothing together or for eachother. No phone calls, no messages no help when in need. That friendship would disolve into nothingness quick. To believe in God is to worship God is to pray to God is to remember God in good and bad times. Saying one thing and doing the opposite is hypocricy, a munafiq. And those are among the worst of the worst in the Quan.

The sheikhs, imams and scholars are all aware of what inner modesty is in Islam (part of what is inner modesty is being mindful of what you speak). Therefore to make such an extreme analogy was not a good idea.
Whilst the sheikh has been misunderstood, this was a badly given example

SheikhS needs to be held accountable for when they make mistakes, no one is above reproach. He has the wisdom to communicate better. These are major sins, he is discussing. God will decide whether you go to heaven or hell. So, this balancing act regards good and bad deeds instead of speaking about the beauty of good deeds.

"Neglecting to worship Allah is worse than committing other sins, as there are punishments for those acts, and not praying without a valid reason is a serious wrongdoing. We must prioritize worship and praying, as neglecting them only harms ourselves. Our lives should revolve around worshipping Allah, and salah (prayer) is the highest form of worship to Him."
