What are the SACSAYWAMAN, Q'ENQO and TAMBOMACHAY archaeological sites like? | SACRED VALLEY

SACSAYWAMAN is an INCA FORTRESS, now in ruins, located two kilometers north of the city of CUSCO, in PERU. It was originally built for military purposes to defend itself from invading tribes that threatened the Inca Empire. Currently, only 20% of the archaeological site can be seen, as during colonial times the Spanish destroyed its walls to build houses and churches in Cusco.
Q'ENQO is an archaeological center located in the SACRED VALLEY OF THE INCAS, six kilometers northwest of the city of Cusco, at an altitude of 3,580 meters. The original name of this temple is not known. The Spanish conquerors gave it the name Q'enqo, a Quechua word meaning "labyrinth", for the labyrinth-shaped underground galleries and the small channels carved into the rocks in the shape of a zigzag.
This monument was classified as an amphitheater, as it has a semicircular construction. In reality, the purpose of this construction is ignored, which could have been used as an altar, a court or a tomb. It is assumed that it was one of the most important sanctuaries of the Inca era.
TAMBOMACHAY is an archaeological site that was destined for the cult of water and so that the head of the INCA EMPIRE could rest. This place is also called "Baths of the Inca".
It is made up of a series of aqueducts, a canal and several cascades of water that flow through the rocks. Here there was also a kind of royal garden, whose irrigation came from a complicated system of canals specially made for this purpose.
