Actually, I have been Southampton 4 times. It is a beautiful college town. Hong Kong food is great, may be better than London on two of the restaurants. Lots of sight seeing , walking tours and small town atmosphere. Nice city.
West Sussex : Midhurst,住過數年，很美的地方但很靜，工作上就無乜。揸車由Midhurst to Chichester, 大约半個鐘，Chischester就旺的，環境唔錯。West Sussex風景很美。From Midhurst by car to Petersfield(Hampshire) around 20 mins. Petersfield比25年前開發不少的small little town. Go to Surrey区，都住過十多年。唔錯。總括來講英國南部屋是比北部贵，但都有平屋in the real countrysidebut not near train station. 其實在英一定要識揸車。Surrey: Guildford is a nice area ,very good grammar school. Gadalming, Farhnam住都唔錯。Portsmouth this area to me is a bit depressing (again is only my opinion). Croydon (Surrey)香港人或者喜歡，有飲茶(大同酒樓,隔離就是'永葉行'中式大超级市埸)，去London 有很方便。

Let's put it this way, the city centre is no worse than any other parts of Southampton. It's all about how sensible you are. I have lived in this city for over 20 years; there has been lots of improvements over the years.
