Oh I do love it when the drum horses are out…..they’re just SO damn impressive, those massive shire dinner plate hooves, and all that feather…….they’re gorgeous. Nice work by both the rider whose Mount shied and the following carriage driver to avoid any issues and not hold up the whole procession. Just lovely to see all those beautiful horses en masse……there’s nothing like the sound of a horse parade, and it’s one of my fond memories of living in London many years ago.
Great horsemanship from the coachman who averted a collision. Really not a small task to control instantly several horses who could have been easily spooked. Respect.

The cost of maintaining these amount of horses and their riders their attires, saddles , etc., must be huge. But the regalia of it all, is very entertaining and enjoyable. I love it, thank you for sharing.
Horses, for all their size, are very sensitive creatures. I noticed that someone yelled from the crowd around thee time the horse spooked. Altho' these horses are very well trained and compatible with their riders, this horse could have been new to this particular ceremony. The rider kept his cool and bought the horse around.

Amazing the amount of horses maintained by the British Royal family, and of course the guards that endure parade after parade . I find it wonderful that there is still “tradition” found in some countries & kingdoms around the world, it’s not just about military strength in the UK as in Russia, America, China, rather it’s about History, Tradition & Class 😎
Not only are the guards regiments highly trained for parades, they are also real soldiers who get deployed to hotspots in the world, where they function as infantry
What made that horse so scared? It would be so nice to know what all these horses think about where they are going and why? It is interesting to watch their faces and their movements, each of them has a personality. They are beautiful creatures.
His rider. It looks like the rider tried to make the brown horse back up quickly, there wasn't enough room, and butt of brown horse bumped into carriage horse.
This is so beautiful! When people deride my ancestry of “white privileged” I just laugh, yes, I’m extraordinarily proud of my British heritage and I don’t mind saying it If you want cultural pride be something, invent something, carry on civilized traditions and behaviors, create something to actually make your descendants proud or wallow in envy
That’s fine. You go ahead, but don’t EVER forget that you HAVE privilege that others didn’t and that you can’t judge others in the same way as you’d be judged for that reason. Simple really.
Of course you should be proud of your culture - the one that invaded, the vast majority of the world, stealing the resources of other lands to make your own people rich and enslaving and murdering those people because they looked different from you. White privilege indeed.

These situations are practised over and over again . The skill of the guards horsemen/women is first class. At NO TIME was anyone in any danger. It did not involve the Prince and Princess of Wales carriage at any time. As always a fantastic show parade by our British military and mounted sections.
Good evasive maneuvers by all horsemen involved. Outrider got his mount under control, front reins man ensured his pair were not in the way & pair behind held slower pace for field to get steady ahead of it. Defensive driving is not limited to those of us who drive a car, but also those of us who ride or drive horses.

What an utterly unnecessary and ridiculous lot of expensive nonsense

Horses can be very fickle sometimes and it just goes to show just how good the guards and grooms are in instants like this.

Horse poop or recycled grasses, grain and hay, are much much easier than a species that is carnivorous
