This is awesome! Cheryl Gibson and Nancy Garapick were awarded a silver and 2 bronze medals, but we all know they won Olympic gold. Why the Olympic committee still haven't righted this wrong for all the women swimmers who participated in the 76 Olympics is inexcusable. I attended the last day of the 76 Olympic swimming events when I was 12. Maybe my memory is playing tricks on me, but I think I watched Cheryl Gibson and Becky Smith win their medals live. The Canadian Olympic women's swimming team were awesome that year.
No Australians in the final - this was a devastating Olympics for Australia. As a result they built the Australian institute of sport to try and combat it and rebuild the team.

Should have been gold for Gibson!
East Germans on the Juice
Yes, it makes it hard to watch these races because of the other swimmers who were robbed of their fame.
Great job posting this!
Thank you!
Wow, Canada went first and second. Awesome.
Many thanks to whomever posted this - if you have any video of Nancy Garapick's races, please post them!!
I'll have a look - this might be the only Canada swimming I have

4:42 with no goggles, no cap, no underwaters, no flip turn on backstroke and old swimsuit tech is WILD
And they belly flopped on the start.

Very interesting. Was not aware!
I think the only medal they won overall was Steve Holland's bronze in the 1,500 freestyle.
The only swimmer to congratulate the winner was the other East German
A parte che si tratta di Ulrike Tauber....
Yesterdays equivalent of todays transgenders
Ironically, one of them took so many steroids that she began to identify as a man.
Apparently the drugs still work.
