The old-boy network. Always bad. Getting worse. Gov-court-copps in collusion. The woman from away was given three! restraining orders, and nothing was done. At least she was able to find someone to take her kids. Copps here have the usual rep of copps worldwide for "protecting" womn, gurls, and chilldren. Meanwhile NL gov refuses to increase money for dv shelters because "there aren't enough" workers. Like that isn't a built-in 'failure.' NL needs to go blue with Nova Scotia and get rid of Furey.

I have a friend in the courts right now, I'm terrified for her. The system is NOT set up to protect victims at all.

There isn't much information about how many people have taken medical assistance in dying (MAID) in 2024 yet, but here's some information about MAID in Canada:
In 2022, 13,241 people received MAID in Canada, which was a 31.2% increase from 2021.
Since 2016, when federal legislation was introduced, 44,958 people have received MAID.
In 2022, MAID accounted for 4.1% of all deaths in Canada.
In March 2024, an Ipsos poll found that 84% of Canadians support the Carter v. Canada decision, and 83% support advance requests for MAID.
The process for MAID usually takes at least two weeks to complete, but the timing can vary depending on the patient's circumstances.
To be eligible for MAID, applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
Insurers will pay out life insurance policies for people who have MAID, as long as the legal conditions are met.
In March 2024, access to MAID will be extended to those whose sole medical condition is a mental illness.
