The N and Q watching the F train get another new tech while they’re still gonna be stuck with R46s and R68s for the next ten years And the D train which hasn’t gotten new equipment since the 1980s 💀
Question, what if R179 gets transferred from Pitkin Yard to Jamaica Yard then gets entered on F service, will R211A will take over at every Pitkin Yard or there’ll still be R179 at Pitkin Yard
The 5 car R179 will remain on the A as its needs for a health spare factor with the R211A. Also as CLB mentioned is only their for CBTC testing for 8th Avenue.
@@TransitFansthere’s no point tbh they can just test them without passengers all they need to do is a simulation test, opening the doors from the opposite side
@@brianmohammed1790 that’s possible and the R could get them too even with the R179s the R160s would still be the fleet majority in Jamaica. The Option Order I R211s would be enough to max out the A and C, as they would need only 40 cars from Option I.
The E F G and R all Share Equipment, so that would be very interesting to see an R179 on the E, as well as the R. I don’t think Jamaica needs R211s as they are already getting R179s from the A since the A will soon be 100% R211, along with the C as well.
@ That is not a set. That is a 10-car consist. A “set” is either 4 or 5 cars long. Two of them link together to form one “consist”. We count trains by the number of consists or sets, in this case he asked about sets.
I was riding the R179 on the (F) Train earlier today as I recognized the sound of it.

The R46 is the GOAT
sadly you mean 2 months since the r46, r68, r62 are retiring within 2025
@ the R46s will be gone by 2025 that’s true, but the R62/As and R68/As will be around for quite a few more years
@@camacakegd3714 there’s not enough to replace to replace r46s rn but possibly in 5-7 years it will be fully retired
@@sonamlama4746they just exercised the last option order for the R211.
It's gonna be easier catching R179 F Trains soon!
Is CBTC fully active on the Queens Blvd line?

I highly doubt that Pitkin will become fully R211. The only reason that R179's are running on the F line is for CBTC testing.

Question: when the R179 will be in service on the (E),(G) & (R) as well
I would guess soon. The crew at Jamaica really doesn’t care what lines their R160s go on, so they probably wouldn’t about the R179s

The E G and R are not seeing any R179. That’s only for the F and M to test CBTC. Plus the G will be getting R211T from the C early 2025.
@@TransitFansYes they are lol
Just so we're clear, there are currently two R179 sets on the F?
Two R179 5-car sets currently assigned to Jamaica Yard, which equals to one 10-car train in service on the F
It’s only one 10 car set on the F.

@@fantherailsbc I asked about consists (I should’ve been clearer).
@@Leonard_Wilson right, so technically “set” isn’t the correct term, i would use “train” or “consist”
