    I switched from LastPass paid then free, to 1Password paid and for the most part they're the same. The big difference is there are/have been lots of small bugs in LastPass which I raised tickets for which rarely got addressed, to the extent that I stopped bothering to raise tickets for broken things. Whereas with 1P, everything I've raised has been either fixed or triaged quickly, via friendly helpful staff.

      Wow actually this is my same exact trajectory. Was tired of LastPass not recognizing a password fill for like 75% of the times I want to fill a password in Android. 1Password has been much better

      This happened personally and company wide for me. LastPass user for 5+ years but watched product features stagnate and bugs grow. Migrated my massive personal vault to 1PW and it's so much better, the reddit community is great too.
      My company enforces password manager use and we used LP as well, around the same time as I switched personally our IT migrated us all from LP to 1PW citing the same reasons, stagnant feature development and ignored bug tickets. A shame because LP was the gold standard for years but 1PW is undeniably better.

    I just signed up with 1Password because of this video. I was already leaning towards it based on your other videos, along with other reviews I had already watched and read. This one put me over the edge though. I can vouch for the process of getting everything set up being very easy to go through. It integrated seamlessly between my Windows 11 PC and Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra. Honestly, the hard part is going to be changing my junk passwords for my accounts. For the couple that I have changed so far, 1Password makes it much easier than I thought it would be. I've just gone to my security settings for the site after logging in, selected change password, entered the current password, then when I click in the box to enter a new password 1Password takes over and suggests a password then saves it in my vault automatically. VERY NICE!!!

It's integration with my iPhone, Windows PC and Mac is always seamless, and I honestly have 0 complaints about any of it (well, I still can't get Touch ID to work with the 1Password Chrome extension on my Mac, but it did work previously, so I know that it's something on my end) :).

    The huge valuation is based on a fundamental change to a SAAS business model; the problem is leaving behind the users that relied on a off-cloud solution; some of them from the PalmOS era!
    For example, the removal of WiFi syncing between a mobile and Windows PC, despite being offered on the MacOS version, seems like strong-arm tactics to compel users to subscribe to the service.

    I don't exactly agree with your view on app trackers. If we talk from security and privacy standpoint , crash analytics trackers wouldn't in any way lessen your security or privacy. I see it as a tool for the developers to keep track of how their apps are performing on different os verions and devices.
    So , it cannot be conclusive to downgrade any other password manager based on this.

    • @gaurav09
      @gaurav09 2 года назад +2

      @@PeteMatheson Mmhh , trackers might involve a degree of trust factor on how the vendor uses the metadata generated in process. I am not a developer, but maybe a developer could only exactly tell how and what data the trackers can have access to. Coz trackers have been a topic of debate for even private messaging apps.

    • @thomrhodes
      @thomrhodes 2 года назад +1

      @@gaurav09 I’m intrigued too; although all trackers act differently across every different vendor. I guess the question we need to ask is “why do you need to track me?”
      After all, just because you buy a service or product doesn’t mean that the vendor should then be ALLOWED to keep track of your buying habits, product usage or even your email address.
      They shouldn’t be allowed to associate your diagnostics reports for service, to your IP address as an example. That would be a bad tracker with major security concerns… in my eyes at least.
      Keeping privacy at the forefront of everything people do, is the only way to guarantee you’re less of a target be that security wise or marketing wise.

    2. Say no to SSO, use your own credentials stored on a manager. Managers enable inheritance with seedphrases stored physically separate from a will, showing passphrase (lawyer cannot steal will's passphrase alone (to be clear, a passphrase encrypts the physical seedphrase).

As some one who owns an iPhone for personal, an Android for work, a windows laptop, and a Mac desktop, I want more applications that I can seamlessly use across all of those devices.
