Just want to add one point, in this video please tell your viewer to save each request/endpoint url before running through collection else it will throw error "There was an error running your collection: runtime:extenstions~request: request url is empty".

Hello Raghav, Thank you for posting easy to follow videos on Postman, I just started to work on API testing project. Created the collection with Get three calls after running the collection I am not able to see the test results, getting the message on every call "The request does not have any test". (FYI All the calls are returning successful) Can you please help.

hi, i had the same issue. Jump to tutorial 10 and it will explain how to run a Test. When you go through the tutorial and run the test, -save it- , then you should be able to run the collection with no problem. :)
@@ginaa9715 I am having nearly same problem. When I run my collection, it shows 200 ok but when i export it then I am unable to import it again. It tells unable to import. If you could help it will be quite good

Hi, when I create and run a collection, it shows tests passed but when I go to Run Summary I do not see any green tick or cross mark it is just greyed out. In the tutorial I see that your Run Summary is showing two ticks for your collection. What am I missing out?
Hi Bharathi, that is because you have not added any tests, Check the Test video in this series
While using 'Collection Runner', on the summary page it's showing 0 passed and 0 failed and also 'This request does not have any tests' at request.
I have noticed the same output while you are demonstrating it in this recording.

Hello Raghav..i have a collection with multiple get and post request in it - the problem is one of the post request requires a file to be attached (how can i achieve this file attachment when i execute the collection via collection runner) ??
Hi Harish
You can easily achieve this in Postman by following the below steps:
First, select the request that requires a file attachment in the collection.
In the request builder, click on the "Body" tab.
In the body tab, select the "form-data" option.
Now, click on the "Choose Files" button.
Select the file that you want to attach.
After selecting the file, give a name to the file in the "Key" field.
Now, click on the "Send" button to send the request.
If you want to execute the collection via collection runner, select the collection, click on the "Run" button, and choose the environment if required.
In the runner, select the request that requires the file attachment and click on the "Edit" button.
In the request builder, repeat the above steps from step 2 to step 6 to attach the file.
Now, click on the "Send" button to send the request.
That's it. By following the above steps, you can easily attach a file to a request in Postman, both in the request builder and in the collection runner.
Sir i am getting error "request url.is empty" even i saved collection.
I have use 2 GET url with different sites in 1 collection, is it error cause?
Hi Shiva, are you referring any variables in the url. In case it is env variables, you will have to select the env in Collection Runner. Try to put hard coded values and try again, then you can troubleshoot for variables.

Hi Shahzaib, pass or fail is only shown for tests, If you have any tests in your request only then you will see pass or fail count

The pass and fail count is for tests. Once you add tests you will get the count

Awesome tutorial. But 1 question: on 4:31 we can see there is 0 failed test and 0 passed test. Just below, it shows: This request does not have any tests yet. This means that just hit the run button is not a test itself. How can we understand this result: 0 passed and failed if at the end the request doesn't have any test. Please help me to understand it.

Hi Md.Mahfuzul, In save as example, All responses saved for a request will be available as an example whenever you load the request. Click the Examples dropdown in the top right to view and select the saved examples. You can select save to file, if you want to save response to an external file

I am stuck in one of the step : I have saved the Collection and Request as Get , while running i am getting Run collection 'name' and not Run get and once i Click on the same Run collection name , result in run result is shown as green with 200 ok 35 ms 898B , but in Run Summary it is not showing green and collection runner also Passed status is not shown. Hi Shraddha, You can also try adding test scripts (explained in later videos) and then run collections. There may be some minor changes due to latest ver. But that is fine.

I click "Run GET" and get the message "An error occured while running this request. Open DevTools for more info." and the popup information "There was an error running your collection: runtime:extenstions~request: request url is empty". I don't see any console and cant find a log. What's wrong here? Other wise I follow all you instructions. The URL is filled including the two GET-endpoints.

@@RaghavPal The problem is still the same. When I start the requests in single mode, there are fine (200). Only in run collection there show the messages like written above.
Hi Frank, as I mentioned usually this comes when you run collection w/o saving the requests that are run in your collection. Double check that you hit the Save button on all requests and then run the collection.
If that does not work try to see console output

You can open each GET(like GET user and GET userlist) requests and save them then you will not get that error.
I got a challenge like 1st API should run 3 times until completion of first API script should hold second API same it should run in next iterations 3 times then 3 Rd one should run.is this possible? Can we run this scenario in runner collection which is having these 3 API's
Hi Noor,
Yes, it's possible to run this scenario using Postman's Collection Runner. Here's one way you could set it up:
Create a new collection in Postman and add your 3 APIs to the collection.
Create a new environment for your collection and add a variable called "iterationCount" with an initial value of 0.
In the first API, add a pre-request script that increments the "iterationCount" variable by 1.
In the pre-request script for the second and third APIs, add logic to check the value of the "iterationCount" variable. If it's less than 3, set the "pm.request.name" variable to an empty string to skip the API. If it's greater than or equal to 3, set the "pm.request.name" variable to the name of the API.
Here's an example pre-request script for the second and third APIs:
if (pm.environment.get("iterationCount") < 3) {
pm.request.name = "";
} else {
pm.request.name = "API 2 (or API 3)";
}
Open the Collection Runner and select your collection and environment.
In the Collection Runner settings, set the "Iterations" option to "3" and the "Delay" option to a value that works for your use case.
Click the "Start Run" button to run the collection.
This setup should run the first API 3 times, and then run the second and third APIs 3 times each. The pre-request script for the second and third APIs will skip the API until the first API has been run 3 times.

@@RaghavPal for me 1,2,3 are hitting in 1 iteration, for me 1 should hit continuously 3 times , then 2 should hit continuously 3 times then 3rd API should hit continuously 3 times.
We are checking performance of each API if it hits continuously 3 times after that 2 nd
Note- 3 APIs should run in above manner in one runner collection as a flow

Hello Sir, There is a scenario where I need to run all the post api through collection runner, and need to test api response first 10 data with csv or json file data. The problem is when I do the test using iterationData inside for loop, then in collection runner, I get error It means csv file is iterating properly but json response is not iterating properly bcoz of which I am not able to do api json response verification using csv file.

Hi Ayena, collection provides a group and we can run our request in a group. We download the collection as json and run from commandline. Collection can also be invoked from a url. So if you have your collection url, you can run your tests from a remote machine as well. Collection Runner also supports data driven runs.
how can i see the results after running collection runner??like for single api we will get response in postman??please explain for post,put also not only get methods.
The result will come for every api and tests in the collection. whether its GET or POST. Let me know if you face any specific issue with that.
for single api if i hit "send" i will get result in response box(postman).like that if i hv 2 or more apis i use cllection runner. i am getting results(success or failure) but problem is i want to display result. i want to visualise results while running collection runner.i hope u got my point.
Okay, there are 2 ways you can see the response. After running Collection in the result section (Run Results) If you click on the Request name you will get dropdowns for request and response details.
The other way is before running the collection open Postman Console (View > Show Postman Console) .
All req and response will be logged here.
It's difficult to find the options in the newer versions of postman.

Hi Chris, pass and fail is based on tests. If you do not have any tests in your collection then pass/fail count will be 0.

Hi Kansai, I believe you will need to use external tools for this. You can either use cron expressions to schedule your commands to run the tests, Can use tools like Jenkins.
