Quadratic forms show up in many fields, from machine learning to electronics to quantum mechanics. Learn what it means for a matrix to be "positive semidefinite" and why it matters. You'll also learn about two important matrix norms: the operator norm and the Frobenius norm. We'll derive some simple, clean expressions for these norms, and we'll prepare ourselves for the last topic of this lecture series.
