  • PaaS offers all the benefits with zero commitment. Watch to learn more about PaaS and how it can be useful.
PaaS, short for Platform as a service, is a cloud computing model in which a third-party provider delivers hardware and software tools - usually those needed for application development - over the internet. A PaaS provider hosts the hardware and software on its own infrastructure, which frees developers from having to install in-house hardware or software.
PaaS doesn't replace an entire business's IT infrastructure, but instead incorporates various underlying cloud infrastructure components that are operated and managed by the service provider. PaaS offerings can be used for mobile app and cross-platform app development, as well as DevOps tools.

It sounds like Paas would be used for those who make multiple applications and just want them to be available and launched virtually without having to worry about providing an environment (physical server/ network/ database) lets say if your an individual whose passionate about making game apps for your phone, but you dont want to personally maintain the environment in which the players would play the game. giving you more time to mmake more apps and manage the resources of your previously created apps. i could be wrong im just trying to make an understanding of it my self

There are basically 3 parts to a software solution:
      1. Infrastructure - CPU, RAM, Storage, etc.
      2. Platform - the server-environment - Linux, Windows, NodeJS, etc.
      3. Software - The end-user software (ex. Heroku, Firebase, etc.)
IaaS - Infrastructure as a Service - when you want control over 1, 2 and 3; you'll choose this.
PaaS - Platform as a Service - when you want control over 2 and 3; you'll choose this.
SaaS - Software as a Service - when you want control over 3; you'll choose this.
      Hope this clarifies.
      Thanks!

i'm still getting easily confused too; i really wish that there were more real world examples to say "X" is an example do PaaS or when you would use PaaS, IaaS, or SaaS. i just personally am able to latch onto those concepts more.
