My mother was diagnosed with multiple personality disorder in 1989. In and out of hospitals for years. From one day to the next I never knew which personality I was going to be subjected to for the day. The personalities don't come around very often anymore. But through all the different medications and the long-term use of geodon and Klonopin, my mother is now going on 63 years old and has pharmaceutically induced dementia. When I listen to your specials and hear you talk about your mom it really strikes a chord with me, because although not as severe with the violence, there are many similarities. So...this was the episode that hooked my family. My mother came from an alcoholic and depressive household, and the stuff that this episode nailed head on really spoke to her. I was 13 or 14, a young guy into Lenny Bruce and she just said: "Watch this. This is where you come from, and why I worry about you," and it was an eye opening experience. The line I always remember from the ENTIRE SERIES is the part at the end about the helicopter chase. Mr. Titus, thank you so much for taking the chance and doing this show: there were and are people who find catharsis in your comedy every day.
"I'm keeping your clippers, your tweezers, whatever the hell that thing is..." I was 12 when I first saw the show. First thing I did when I first heard this line was ask my mom "whatever the hell that thing was." The funny part: even she didn't know what it was called - and she used one herself.

Funny how Ken Titus, being the hardass that he is, said "Very nice" when he was hanging Christopher's macaroni art on the fridge. Anybody else notice that? lol
That's probably one of the few times he's nice to Titus as a kid, like how he protected him from his exes throwing the 8-track and cassette deck at him, but not the CD player, because Titus was in his late teens at that time and should have known better.
She's probably the closest to how Juanita actually was in real life (a beautiful, charming, multitalented woman who was also manipulative, violent, and deranged).
I am so happy these are here to come back to now. Thank you for uploading. Taking this off the air was one of fox's biggest fubars over the years. I dont normally feel for tv characters, they arent relatable; this show was ahead of its time and im glad we got it at all. Take care folks.

Damn, this is one of the saddest endings I've ever seen. Especially when you've already seen the episode and know what's coming, but watch everyone let their guard down.
I still think the saddest ending is the one where everyone thiks Juanita escaped from the mental hospital again, but Erin gets a call from the Missouri state police who tell her that Juanita committed suicide.
Ahh, and my day closes out on a high note yet again. Thanks Titus! One question, though - there were several actresses that played your mom. Did you have a favorite, or one that you felt was the best in the role? I liked Frances Fisher the best. It felt like she had the best chemistry with the rest of the cast - especially interactions with Stacy Keach.
@@taytawr3097 That's the fan theory I believe about this show: that Juanita is played by three actresses because her mental illness and her roller coaster ride of a life (which included homelessness, abusive lovers, being a single mom to a girl, and being in and out of mental hospitals all leading up to her shooting herself in a trailer in Missouri after realizing that she's at fault for her messed-up life) altered her personality.
My mom was schizophrenic. She was ok medicated. I guess she did ok until I was like 3 and she tried going off her meds and my dad started cheating on her. Unfortunately I didn’t have a good dad like Titus to raise us. My dad put my sister, brother and me up for adoption. My grandparents raised us and my dad married his mistress and raised her sons until college then she left him. That’s karma.😝 My mom would’ve been a great mom if not for her illness. She wasn’t as bad as Titus mom. She was fine until my grandparents passed away. She attacked my sister-in-law and she called 911 saying WWIII was going to happen because we lived by an airport and just little stuff like that. I loved this show.
Mr. Titus we all know you have had some shitty moments in your life however you’ve taken those shitty moments and turned them into a long carrier of tangible joy for your fans. I can only hope that you have been able to heal by sharing with others the unique and hilarious ways that you do. I just noticed Erin's eyes widen when Titus licks her forehead, I don't think she was expecting him to actually do it but that just makes that scene so much funnier.
Imagine the pilot, where Eren blows up a car, had aired in Ireland. That introduction to the show would have been controversial, to put it mildly. The show is great, can't remember a thing i didn't love about it, but it's hard to blame tv execs for not biting at the time.

I haven't seen this episode and it brings back a lot of memories and sadly up to current events. My parents were dysfunctional as all hell, not to the extent of this, well, a couple of times. I remember when my parents first split up when I was 7, on Christmas Day. That was the day we found out there was no Santa Claus. My mom packed up my two sisters and I and drove an hour to my grandparents. Then my parents got back together and my Dad cheated on my Mom and she cheated on him, but she was stalking his girlfriend, with my Mom leaving notes on his girlfriend's door, things like that. They split up for good when I was 9, and I never saw him again after I was 10. My two sisters went back to live him with the next year and my Mom ended up dating 5 guys in under the span on 8 months. Number five because husband #2, and he cheated on her and she cheated on him, they fought all the time, but he would never hit or hurt her. She would destroy his stuff. She cut his tires once, trashed his clothes and I remember the time she bit him. Later on when I was out of the house and they split up again, she went back to the house and trashed a whole bunch of stuff and he had my Mom arrested but they got back together again one more time. He left when she cheated on him again, this time with a married Pastor (yep, you read that right). In the middle of their very bitter divorce with orders of protection, she cheated on the marries Pastor and tried to get back with husband #2 but it didn't work out, but she keeps tabs on him even to this day and knows where he is. My oldest sister and I don't speak to her because of all the stuff she's done and how she's screwed with our kids and our lives. It's a sad thing but it's also nice to know I'm not alone with a Mom that should have been committed.

She cut his tires once, trashed his clothes and I remember the time she bit him. Later on when I was out of the house and they split up again, she went back to the house and trashed a whole bunch of stuff and he had my Mom arrested but they got back together again one more time. He left when she cheated on him again, this time with a married Pastor (yep, you read that right). In the middle of their very bitter divorce with orders of protection, she cheated on the marries Pastor and tried to get back with husband #2 but it didn't work out, but she keeps tabs on him even to this day and knows where he is. My oldest sister and I don't speak to her because of all the stuff she's done and how she's screwed with our kids and our lives. It's a sad thing but it's also nice to know I'm not alone with a Mom that should have been committed.
