Nice review and product. Thanks! I ordered one and it works very well. Only detail is that I had to use my PC to initialize and format the SSD before any of my devices could see it. After that, my Android devices could access it, save and retrieve files to the SSD, and between them, without a hitch. It will be great to save my travel videos and photos while on the road.
good news for those that use Galaxy devices with USB Typ C to HDMI, this makes for an excellent docking station, the fact that you can install an eternal SSD means you have a docking station plus storage, Now if only they would allow us to have the same features like when we have an SD Card in our Devices for gallery and a way to down load directly to it.. Wait some browsers allow for that. But only if we could be allowed to use it like an SSD card to transport external data and use it to store software. Perhaps in the future we will have that.
I can hookup my Android tablet and phone and exchange files between them and the SSD. As for the Android option to run some apps from an external storage, I think it may take some time. However, the fact that now I have a 2TB "cloud" that I can use to save and retrieve stuff and exchange stuff between them is already a big plus. Only problem I saw so far is that it uses USB PD and neither my phone or tablet use it.
Connected to the usb 3 port on my laptop. Using the Orico 1TB NVME and a 256GB samsung NVME. Using two M.2 NVME's to transfer files from samsung to orico nvme and it froze. Dock is powered.
I just get it from China JD Store, the support tell me if you want to connect to Display via HDMI, you need C-C cable that support DP, otherwise it can not go to display while you use generic C-C cable.
Not compatible with my samsung 980 pro nvme 2tb gen 4. It heats a lot and disconnects, and my pc won't recognize anything. Maybe it's compatible with gen 3 nvme at slower speed, but i haven't tried it. Also, my samsung 980 pro 2tb gen 4 with built in heatsink doesnt fit or won't lock due to the length of the metal of the heatsink.
@@distractor_beamreviews I decided to buy a 2Tb Kingston Fury Renegade to put in the NVMe slot. The problem is that, even using the heatsink, it heats up too much and the orico dockstation trips. It stops working. Everything is disconnected and it takes a long time to get back up and running. Even using it without the lid. It still gets too hot. In practice, I can't use the SSD on the Orico.
@@bubmaik just got mine a few days ago, I tried it with pd charger (MacBook Air 30W) and ethernet connected. It has gotten somewhat warm to touch (not worryingly warm). That is without nvme connected. Do you have problem with any portable SSD? The 10gbps USB A port malfunction if connected to my Samsung T7, but otherwise works fine if it's a DIY nvme enclosure
@@rodtney.hj89 didn't have issues with the other ports. Tho I did notice that the NVME copy speed does not reach the 10gbps spec. Tested the same Nvme using another enclosure and it runs so much faster.
@@bubmaik One thing that I noticed under the system profiler is that the nvme occasionally switches from a 2.0 hub to 3.1. While on 2.0 speeds are abismal (after all, speed cap is 480mbps), but if it's connected to the 3.1 hub, speeds increase to at least a usable rate and close to the specs of the ssd. I tested with a Kingston NV1 and a Patriot Scorch. Maybe it moves to USB 2.0 if we're hitting the thunderbolt speed cap?
Mine is useless. Cannot maintain a constant HDMI signal, Changed different cables and power but no, screen drops in and out constantly. Bought a old Dell D6000 USB-C dock for £50 and that works perfectly.
I had same problem..I bought hub before 3 days. Solution is to provide appropriate power supply. My Macbook air M1 has 30 w but hub needs 90 w to work perfectly...Also, I put 1Tb m.2 ssd in..Everything is fine now..

Horrible review because he didnt test exhaustive and operation until heat, he just unbox what orico sent to him so say nice Things
Did it actually display at 60Hz while doing 4k? That's pretty much the only thing holding me back from getting it
Nice review, thank you :)

Is 4k in 60 hz? Is power required for the SSD drive to operate?
2:01 May I know what's your laptop is? Is it xps 9700? Tnx for ur attention 🙏🏻

did type c 10gpbs support display output?
I've tested it myself, and it does not, unfortunately.
Do you have any suggestions of a good ssd 4t to use in it? As ssd as good in quality as good in price?
If you want 4tb, the WD_Black is pretty hard to beat.

Posso alimentare e mandare segnale video ad un monitor tramite usb-c anteriore?
How's the temperature of the dock?
Same question. Mine runs extra warm to the touch. That's without the 100W PD plugged-in.

Share files over ethernet from this?
What ssd brand did you use? I heard it has compatibility issues.
Kan man dela filer över ethernet på denna.
I just got one of these. NO COPPER pipe. Looks like they gift the goods one and sell a crappier version. That's a real lack of integrity.
