As a beginner, it is a little messed up to be pit up against experienced players right from the start.
Splatoon's matchmaking at its finest
Just suffer through turf war till you unlock anarchy. Its a ranked mode so it will place you with players the same rank as you. Matchmaking still isnt great like they might match you with a team that has loads of paint and pressure and yiur team does not but most of the time it's alright :)
@@Sleppa_95 some people purposely de-rank themselves to torture people with less skill so idk 🤷🏻♀️
I'd say also try to up your skills in salmon run. Not only do you get better with cooperation with your team, but you also get to rank up and challenge harder salmonids, then you can try your luck with actual turf war

When me and my sis play together and we see an actually new person we try our best not to kill them when they're on the other team, and we try to let them splat someone after we hurt them a bit. When they lvl up, we celebrate our accomplishments 😌🎉

beginners are sooo cute, one time i met someone who looked like a beginner and i partied with them in the lobby for like 4 games and they were so cool... and then i went to friend them like an hour later and they had over 1000 hours 😭😭😭 i was DECEIVED... HOODWINKED...

Whenever there’s a noob, I’m always watching them and just super friendly and try and go in front of them and show a play that I may do to hopefully teach them
last (last) year, during christmas day, i woke up in the morning and my entire lobby was filled with newbies. It took me around 7 matches until I realized that it was christmas and they were christmas newbies, not trolls.I live with guilt till this day.
I met a newbie today who had a very difficult time just figuring out how to move around. Standing in place a lot and mashing buttons at random to see what they would do. It was very funny but the enemy team showed no mercy lol.
I love newbies, they're adorable silly baby squids/octos.
They bring me back memories of when I was new to the franchise and had no idea how to play or what to do. When I have to play against one of them, I avoid killing them hahaha, they are still learning.

An easy way to assess the noob experience in Ranled would be to create a second account, since matchmaking will likely place you with players of similar skill level.

I like when people support and/or spare the noobs because honestly it is a little unfair to pit them against experienced players from the start. They don't know how to play yet. Let them figure it out, because as someone who's first splatoon game was 3, I can tell you it's really hard to learn how a game works when everyone around you keeps bullying you and not letting you move without being splatted
And some of us struggle to learn via reading, so we have to learn via experience.
I was a beginner in splatoon 2 and for some reason w carried my team and died once in those days but when i got splatoon 3 it felt great even tho i lost, and seeing new players on the opposite side of my made me feel bad so i wouldn't even try to attack them cuz i felt bad ive been there a lot 😭

One time I splatted a beginner and in the lobby he tried to splat me and I did the slow turnaround thing and I love them so much

When I was a beginner in January 2023 (I got the game in December, but couldn’t play online because of online.) I was already experienced from Splatoon 1 & 2 somewhat, so I wasn’t as weak. Now in 2024, I’ve proudly became captain of a competitive team. I’ve improved a lot.

I was in a match with a new player. I could tell it was his first match since his gamer tag was at the default. His play style also showed that he wasn’t used to playing the game. I decided to not try at all for the match and even let him kill me so his first match could be a win (it was a turf war match, so my team didn’t lose rank points or anything, if it was ranked I wouldn’t have been easy on him since my rank is suffering)
That guy really saved 3 licenses to buy the weapon at the back of store thinking it was the best

I always love seeing fresh squids and octos joining in matches it gives me a chance to draw hearts around them with a severaly reduced chance they will splat Okita in nano seconds > v < ~ 💖

Omg I did the exact same. H3 and team XP, and I also got nothing but experienced sweaties 😂.
I don't register the kind of badges people have. I stopped paying attention less than a week after getting the game. Im lucky to notice what titles people have. Also the default splashtag means only that they just started the game and says nothing of their true experience. I learned that not every "new player" equals inexperienced player, nor does it mean the player is a little kid. Every once in awhile its very obvious, but i notice way more "oh they must be talking to each other (suspiciously coordinated), or teamed up with people/friends on discord (coordinated and/or similar, related names) than actual new players.

I just started playing Splatoon 1 for the first time a few days ago, and during my first few matches I was a Level 1 with a Junior and starter gear while everyone else was Level 50. XD
Granted, I wasn't ACTUALLY a noob because I've been playing 2 and later 3 since 2019, and I did indeed destroy the other team in these matches with a heckin' junior, but still, I LOOKED like a noob lol. Idk if that counts as smurfing or not, because technically I was a new player to that game and also wasn't used to jumping with X, but I also had 2 and 3 skills already. XD
This brings me back to late 2015 when I was getting started :")

Yesterday I witnessed my team member just standing there not attacking the enemy player right next to them. Then they proceeded to be friendly.
Following that I wiped the enemy team. I will never again feel as powerful as soloing four players in turf...
