I visited the Cenotaph that night and like many, inspected the wreaths. Michael Foot's wreath was the ONLY one left by any dignitary or politician with a hand written and signed message to the fallen. This never got any publicity but did show to me he cared deeply.
sad that people would want to caricature or hurt michael foot.he was sincere and cared and for that he was found guilty and derided.this is sad and perhaps says more bout the naysayers than about the noble man himself. he was a wonderful orater and spoke with toxic eloquence a gift me thinks not given to many but . . . .to the few and this is where his guilt lay !
This is an example of the power of the media. Remember that in Huxley's Brave New Word, it is the conditioned people who feel distressed at one who isn't in the well dressed robot mode. Look at the political class and the journalist class today? They all look the same. Foots dilema was the good man in a Brave New TV World. R.I.P Michael Foot.
You would not turn up at persons funeral in a Jacket like that unless you did not care much for the fellow. Michael Foot was a great Journalist and activist but things in Britain had changed since the War and Labours fantastic implementation of the Welfare State. Foot was behind the Zeitgeist in terms of Britain bouncing back from the Brink of labour strife. I hated Thatcher, but retrospectively , like a child hates taking his medicine.

A great man in my opinion, shame he was vilified for doing what he thought would help the British public
I can't look at michael foot without thinking of spitting image ..... "yes! Thanking you YES! "
A man of great dignity and compassion.

The press may have won with Michael Foot but they've lost with Jeremy Corbyn
I can't see what the fuss was about. His coat did not look like a donkey jacket to me. On the other hand I suppose he could have had a hair cut.
A great man indeed!! Where is his like today????
Brian Delaney Mr. Corbyn.
@@michaelheeheejackson7255 😂😂😂
@@kevinlongman007 it's a pretty accurate comparison no?
@@natschaefer1044 Michael Foot was a political giant whereas Corbyn is more of a political pigmy.
Now tell Jezza Neil !!!!

Foot seems to have developed ADHD in his later years.
......and you're qualified to make that assessment & diagnosis I guess?!! 🙄🙄
Agree 100%. He had autism and bipolar disorder too.
