About 25 or so years ago I read Ragtime for the first time and fell in love with Doctorow right away. Through the years I've read basically all his novels and I have to say I've loved them all. H&L is such a sweet story, truly a must-read; also I cannot recommend enough "City of God", the BEAUTIFUL "The March", and the really good short stories from "Sweet Land Stories". Always great to see you featuring books I've loved so much on your channel Matthew! Cheers from Italy. :)

I once saw a play based on the story of the Collyer brothers. It was original - not based on ELD - and not especially good, but I sure haven’t forgotten it. Now for the first time I can place the context. I liked your description of the relationship between the brothers - at the opposite end of the spectrum to the Karamazovs I suppose.
