Thanks for this video - Gotoh doesn’t clearly show the proper installation - I couldn’t get my Tele intonated properly until I saw this video. The direction of those saddles is critical and I had to switch the set screw direction on one of them to get it right. I had the open end reversed which really messed things up
Question: I just had Wilkinson compensated saddles installed onto one of my telecasters. Great! Intonation was perfect to my ear, but I got a rude awakening when I began to restring the guitar, beginning with the low E. The saddle began to move very far to the left because I began tuning all the way up. So I suppose what we need to do is to put all the strings on loosely, and then slowly bring each of the strings up to tune in order to avoid tweaking the saddles, either to the left or to the right, which, in turn, throws off the intonation, right? Sorry to be so long-winded. Thanks.
Haha awesome tutorial! The intonation thing is very clearly explained. Good to have all the steps in the same video with additional cool tricks. Won't have to look all the up elsewhere anymore ;°) Thanks!
Can you give more details on which order to install the Gotoh saddles? I'm not sure how the up and down arrows correspond to the grooves on my saddles.
I would say the Telecaster is just a twangy guitar in general that is why people love it for country. Probably more to do with the guitar itself and the pickups than the saddles. If you are stuck with a Tele and want less twang you should either get different pickups or invest in an Eq pedal of some sort. I love the Boss GE-7
Thanks for the video. At 3:30 you have text with E A D G B e and some arrows to show the correct orientation of the saddles. I don't understand the arrows -- some pointing up, some pointing down. What does that mean, please?
He states just before that that some notches are at the front and some at the back, so the arrow pointing forwards means have the notch at the front and visa versa.
@@terrytowelling6212 Yup. just got the Gotoh compensated saddles in today. Had to flip one in order to get the correct pattern he shows. Should work now.
You should change title and description to specify "Gotoh Compensated Saddles". I have Wilkinsons which are totally different, so apart from the relaxing soundtrack, this video was not helpful.

Super simple, nice background music and just pleasure to watch really! Thank you mate, you’ve done a very helpful video 🙏🏼
Nice video the step is straight forward easy to follow to setup the intonation keep up the good work!

Excellent video. A real gem as I'll also be installing the gotoh in-tune saddles. Thank you for this.
thanks for stopping by!

The wider part of the saddle groove corresponds to the wide end of the arrows in the video. You’ll have to flip one set of set screws to get it right.
Hello
Is it true that brass saddles, forces the tone to twang?
And if someone like me, don't care for the twang?
What can i do?

hey Bill! Its to show which way the grooves should go on the saddles they need to be in the precise order
3:15 I got them in the mail today and I am surprised they don't come with an instruction
ya thats why I felt the need to make the video
I notice you use a 14 radius gauge, but wouldn't a tele neck be a 7.5 or 9.5? Why did you choose 14?
my tele neck is actually a strat knockoff
also, you can just use linseed oil on the fretboard
ill have to check that out thanks for the ti
Is that a coated maple neck? If so it seems you shouldn't oil it (no?)
That’s what I was wondering?

thanks for letting me know
Did you ever try to compensate the saddles yourself? 😊

Nice video, but Jeezuz H Crispy do you need that LONG of a thumb nail? Is that a
coke nail? lol.
In some cultures it is to prevent you from cheating, I understood
I play fingerstyle/ classical/ and flamenco so it is necessary, I get alot of looks for sure
These are barrel saddles not compensated saddles.
thanks for commenting. the grooves on the saddles are what make them compensated
