Man that opener really made me laugh
you NEED Greenland
22:33 It is the first actual flag of the confederate states called "The Stars and Bars". The one you had before in the game was the „Stainless Banner“ which in real life replaced the first one later during the war. The thing people usually think of as „the confederate flag“ was the battle flag of the Army of Northern Virginia.
@@Vanhenrik spot on! Then the blood stained banner was used near the end of the war
@@Vanhenrik correction: the flag your speaking of is the Battle Flag of the Army of the Tennessee. The Army of Northern Virginia’s battle flag was square.
love how basically everyone ignores this fact
Truly shows that Robert E Lee and Jackson was carrying the war

Don't let the editor out. Don't let him smell the sweet air of freedom! You will never be able to beat that out of him, once he has tasted it. In the basement he shall remain, working 24/7 on those magnificent videos of yours. For all of eternity and beyond!
The Know Nothing Party was a real party in America, but I do agree the name sounds insane to those who arent aware.
True, it was also known as the "Native American Party" wich at first glance sounds like it would represent actual native americans but in reality it was a WASP "nationalist" party, very funny.
Bros thought they were in the Fight Club
Antebellum politics in the US were wild.
@@DonPedroman “native Americans” can’t be native to America because there was no america before Europeans so the term native Americans would fit for Europeans
You have the same now!! Murikkkan ignorance is staggering
Loving the rant on living conditions halfway through the video, that's the kind of content I want to see.
33:00 The Know Nothing Party was an actual US Political Party in the mid-1800s. Interesting that the CSA can get them too.
Well, I mean, considering their party principles...
21:40 that’s something that seems to happen a fair bit in 1.8, if a revolution ends in a white peace.
7:40 There was actually conflict in the Indian Territory due to a large amount of Amerindians wanting to join the Confederacy (due to having slaves and the promise of an Indian state).
Everyone gets a mandatory government assigned slave that only searches for your wallet, free shipping to Wallachia included.
34:40 this is becoming more of a problem every year
The know nothing party was a real thing, the members were required to say "I know nothing" when asked about it by outsiders.
34:12 unironically good commentary on today’s living situation for a lot of people, specially the young.
glad you think so
@@LudietHistoria - From a Southerner, several southern states also required slave owners to educate their slaves, Alabama for instance, made it illegal to whip their slaves became it was deemed inhumane (check the Alabama constitution 1860), as time went forward, Southern States started imposing more laws on slave owners which rose costs of keeping them.
“The Peculiar Institution” is a good book documenting slavery in American history. Slavery in the American South was seen as paternalistic, where slave owners believed they had a mission from God to uplift them, which justified-in their opinions-keeping them in a state of simplicity. Often they were taught to be literate enough to read the Bible, but not enough to read complicated subjects like philosophy.
Australians moving to the West is somewhat historically accurate. There was a lot of migration in the early 19th century especially between Australia, New Zealand and the American West Coast because of the gold fields. Miners would exhaust one field say in Otago and move on to the next. It's one of the reasons that Californian Cypresses (Macrocarpa) are now an endemic species in New Zealand, far beyond their rather limited range within the USA.
For future reference, for the word “haudenosaunee” (Indians by the big lakes), you usually get a pass if you say “hoh-den-ah-shown-E”
They were actually pretty cool
Loved the rant about modern financial traps and not being able to afford things caused by you looking at the slavery laws
The south was indeed close to outlasting the north. If Gettysburg doesn’t happen, and if Stonewall Jackson wasn’t killed by his own men by accident, among other things, the south likely persevered independently. Until they inevitably would have went to war again.
Look at America and Canada, it’s possible they would’ve had peaceful relations.
Nah, the South had more war weariness. Even if the front resulted in a stalemate, the blocade would ensure the south starved, while the abolitionist movement increased war support for the north. The Civil War did more or less continue for a decade afterwards (reconstruction) with guerilla warfare. The south won that, but open warfare was a losing strategy.
@@bigshrimp0 The south did not win reconstruction, you are delusional
>let's have a debate about the civil war in the comments
>3-minute rant about how modern capitalism is basically slavery
>slavery is funny but let's face it it's inefficient
amazing
I never understood why slaves are banned from factories in Vicky 3. Like, there's nothing stopping people educating slaves and using them as machinists or whatever.
The confederate flag he is thinking about is probably the confederate battle flag that is often shown in games and movies about the Civil War, which normally shows the battles and fighting that went on. The flag of the CSA is often mistook to be the battle flag due to how often it is shown.

A formable nation that would be fun to form could be the Golden circle if you control all the crainean coast
@@virginiabarcelor6315 what dat
@@koreandictator4605 @koreandictator4605 The Golden Circle was a proposition by a small extremist group within the confederacy, to conquer Mexico, the caribean and the Caribbean coastline. To maintain and make slavery perpetual.
Or the Second Empire of Haïti
@generalbaguette4539 Good sugestion
Yes and a DLC to optimize slavery and enslave more people who were free.
33:50 not everything is about effectivity, some things are about ideology. communism won a half of the globe not because it was very efficient, but for it's ideas.
Oh right, my favorite state of Pennis-ilvania
Ludy, if you play as México I recommend to you to use a mode call Patria Grande (if I remember) that basically adds favor to the Hispanic america region. Also adding a formable nation called "Patria grande". Also it adds a lot of power to México.
i love that mod, ive played it, but tbh it makes latam a bit OP
@mr.ocelotguy8995 dude they needed it. The mod gives a LOT of gold but they really need it because these countries are really weak and any and I mean ANY great or major power can conquer them really easily.
15:00 Minnesota is actually the largest producer of iron ore in the United States and has been for over a century, we call that area the "Iron Range," and it's located in Northern Minnesota. This is what makes Duluth the largest port on the Great Lakes and is in the top 20 by tonnage in the US. So petition to Paradox to add the port building in Minnesota.
SODAAAA
For some reason, playing normally as the US I still had Dixie majority in the North West, I don't know why, lol, but it was funny. Oh and Texas turned Orthodox.
Ah, the *Good* ending
Love you!!
The Know Nothing Party actually existed.
You should do more videos like min 35. Good speech and ideas.
34:43 comrade Ludi spitting facts
you give enough of those 35 min speeches you'll gather enough people to reform rome
16:06 your take is very correct. The only thing that could actually change the outcome of the civil war is the date (the earlier the better for the south) and possibly a scenario where the north is the one seceding (very unlikely yet possible). Both scenarios however result in two separate nations
@@tannerunderwood264 his take is only kind of correct. He's right about them having distinct advantages in population and industry.....but it wasn't as one sided as he implies, early on the Confederates won just about every single battle because almost all of the good officers were southerners giving them a big initial advantage in tactics. Eventually as better officers became trained and came into the right positions this shifted. But if the south hadn't marched north onto 2 giant losses for them, it's very possible bad morale from losses in the beginning could have led to some sort of white peace from the Union. I'm not saying this is the likely outcome, just that it was not nearly as clear cut as suggested, especially early on in the war
I'm suprised PDX doesn't have a "Golden Circle" achievement for the Confederacy involving lots of plantations in Cuba and/or the wider Caribbean
Know nothing party is wild
Great video as always!!!
"i just researched trench warfare, its gonna be a very very very fast war now"
30 year loans have been normal in denmark for the past 40 years
Would be more efficient to swap to slave trade at the beginning? I would say that legacy slavery has no benefits, while having slave trade you can at least import population.
Based Ludi rant towards the end. ✊️✊️✊️
Funny enough the Confederacy had a chance to win the war after the first battle, The Battle of Bull Run, The Union was swept off the field and in complete disarray, their were no Union forces between the Confederate Army, and D.C. and if I remember correctly it was only a few miles away, the only reason it didn’t happen was because the Confederacy won the Battle with a complete disorganized charge, and because it was so disorganized it took Confederate officers and the Generals a whole day to get things sorted again.
The know nothing party was a real party in the U.S before and around the civil war
Me getting hyped when Ludi talks about the importance of Pennsylvania, then he hits me with a hard WAS :'(
The fact that you cannot use slavery in the factories buffles me, like, it would have been the logical evolution if slavery became entrenched in a country up to the point of industrialization.
Having insomnia has it's advantages! I got to watch an early Ludi video!
Confederacy run? Let's gooo
1:07 most people don't even know Indonesia exists but hey, it is true that they don't know whatever Mexican nation you're talking about
16:05 well I wouldn't go as far as saying the csa had minimal to zero chances of winning: the North was undeniably advantaged, economically, militarily and pops-wise, but it is true that the south (initially) was making gains. My alternate history question then would be: what if the South was able to exploit the delicate situation in the Union's internal politics to preserve itself?
idk just me nerding ludi said debate me and I felt like yapping
no, you're wrong, I was there and saw it happen, the north had space lasers. Debate over I win skibidi boo *flies into the sun*
A like just for the small talk about the economic situation now… and for my wallet, how i’ll pay my rent without it?
Ludi went a bit Luigi there for a while
Wow Ludi i was thinking to do a Confederacy run in Vic 3 today and you just uploaded this video :D read my mind

Yeah here in Spain is pretty much the same as in Rumanía. Even some romanians that used to live here are returning to Rumania so, imagine our situation lol
I see government legitimacy isn't a concern for the great Ludi. 8 years with that alert is really rubbing me the wrong way.
The Know Nothings were a real party!

Brudi Ludi, I am in the "lucky" 5% of millenials income-wise and I still cannot even get a mortgage for a house because they cost too much. It's not good. Very not good.
Same here, bank told me I can't qualify for a house loan lol xD
33:07 well they're certainly something
Never caught a ludi vid so early before
16:05 You’re 100% right about the south’s industry and its support from other nations, but while not likely I think there was a way for the south to politically win the war pre like 1863. If Lincoln wasn’t as adamant about keeping the Union together (or some other president it doesn’t really matter) he could have caved to the significant public and political backlash in the North. I think because the citizens still identified themselves more with their states leading to somewhat of an ambivalence for some northerners and the fact there was a lot more initial support from the South and their power base of landowners compared to the north’s factory owners, workers and tradesmen. Both of these facts along with economic turbulence from the war and the confederates initially coming out ahead in engagements in 1861/1862 could have led to a scenario where Lincoln loses his mandate and congress brokers a peace or some other scenario where the North gives up before their industry and manpower can overwhelm the South. Again pretty unlikely but I don’t think it was an impossibility which IMO makes Lincoln that much of a better president.
playing as liberia is interesting
33:50 not really.
You're not taking into the account how the American political system actually works. Changing the constitution (and CSA had universal black slavery written into their constitution) is extremally hard, and requires qualified majorities in house, senate, and within member States.
Knowing how much of a cornerstone slavery would be for the CSA and how strong the southern aristocrat lobby was, there is little room for change - aspecially that after early XIX the notion of slavery ban pretty much died out in Europe, by the late XIX barely anyone was talking about that, so there would be little to no insentive for the South to go forward with a ban.
On top of that, there is simply enough white settlers arriving from Europe to fill in all the factory jobs - the slavery would most likely continue on plantations and in service sector quite well.
yeah pal we need the 40,000th Russia gameplay
That is the Confederate flag, the one you know of is the battle flag
First! 🎉
Edit: day 5 of asking Ludi to wear a green sweater in the video! 👕
Besides from industry and fighting capability, Union had 22 and Confederacy had 13 (with slaves) million population so basic math is enough to see outcome. But if General Lee's march into Maryland successful, maybe Confederacy could have survive. But still it could probably merge with Union with conditions in future.
i played as rwanda today, was very tough
Pennisilvania 🍌
Think when trump will find out that greenland actually is not that green
Hell just get an advisor to color green on the map.
love ur videos ludi
2 years in, and the military system is still abysmal
31:30 I'd be down for units on map if it is a front style system similar to HoI4 (though stripped down ofc, can't have the game chugging lol)
How is the game state now? Seems kind of not yet the time to get back to it for the regular player
the fucking intro sent me already :D
way down south in the land of traitors
Day 2 of asking you to try out the Morgenroete Mod :D
WILD thumbnail
Go for ethnostate or national supremacy with one party system as csa
With a presidential system to be dictator
Damn never thought I'd be this early
Sad to say, it seems like they already did.
The South could have won, if the player focuses more on VK3
What is the rarest nation Mexico can form?
It doesn't matter as much for other countries, but it makes sense for the US; a lot of shipping is done with convoys via the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers and along pretty much all of the Gulf and Eastern sea board. Still, the game mechanics for that are kinda dumb. You do need them to trade with Ecuador as well since theyre in your market.
That is the real Confederate Flag
YALL BETTER GET 5K LIKES
God bless you Sir.
No food free healthcare lol😂
Hopefully Ludi won’t get canceled 😞
My Men
34:40 I wonder who owns these banks and making these ridiculous contracts for customers
ludi can you do one playthrough as denmark aswell
Why is the Confederate play through have the most diverse cultures?
Cool but made more sense to roleplay more this scenario instead of minmaxing
Sry Editor you are staying in the basement I want more videos
Just when I needed a Vicky 3 video, you uploaded 6 minutes ago, coincidence? I. THINK. NOT!
Make Conf*derates Great Again
Hey Ludi, Thank you for you opinion of the economic system. I absolutly believe you and i think it is a global problem... We have to work together not against each other...
For this video, i am not so happy cause you made it easy yourself with disbanning and everything. Can you maybe pls make a video, at 1861 the historical date and try to divide all the resources till there?
