    I love the fact that it's already been tested in so many great locations King of the hammers and burning Man and mountain climbing and emergency rescues situations and disaster relief that's exactly what I've been looking for for so many years for 20 years now the perfect Four Season tent shelter for emergency situations and my gosh they've designed and built exactly what I wanted, what I had envisioned / designed in my head!! Carbon graphite struts and hubs and YKK zippers etc top quality materials everything space blanket materials for reflecting Heat and cold; "Space Age Materials for Space Age Conditions!!!"

    Be careful not to pump playa dust in all over yourself! :) Aluminet is our go to out on the playa. It will help you keep any and everything cooler.

    Excellent videos! I started prepping a year ago and your videos were instrumental and I'm so grateful that you posted these. I have a shiftpod2 setup with a 5k BTU window air conditioner powered off of solar. For the ducting, I need can fans to circulate the air. Do you mind sharing which can fans you used? I didn't see any that looked like yours on Amazon. Thanks again. I'm using so many of your ideas: Pool noodles, organization, lots of ideas. Hope you are going back!

    • @stationjeckmode9107
      @stationjeckmode9107  3 года назад +1

      Thank you for the love! :) With ur set up, I'm sure you'll be super comfortable - awesome that its powered by solar too!
      Here's the can fans I used: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072DSHKCH
      In 2019, when it got really hot, I plugged one of these into the side using a small power supply I had charged off a 100w solar panel: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009OWRMZ6. It cleared out all hot air pretty quickly.
      I'm thinking of switching up the pool noodle idea to something a little different for the next burn. If it turns out well, I'll make a new video for this summer. Really cant wait to come back home!

    Hey thanks for making this video. Would love to hear about your experience with shiftpod and those coolers and any tips and any other thoughts about the setup. Starting my prep for this year. Feeling already behind the curve haha 😰 🙏

      Hey Lily! Check out my latest video - it has a full tour on the playa. The easiest way to keep cool is a generator + a/c set up, but I dont like dealing with that stuff. You can also look into the diy swamp bucket coolers. They're pretty easy to make and do pretty well if set-up the right way. If you can manage to put the shiftpod under a shade structure, it will drastically reduce the temp inside as well.

    Thanks for the video! Any lessons you're bringing back after bringing the shiftpod to the burn? I'm taking mine out there for the first time this year and was hoping for any tidbits. Also can you link some of the fans you bought? I'm specifically looking for the circular fans you put in the A/C holes of the shiftpod. Did it work like intended?

      hey hey! hey hey - i just posed a new video of the shift pod tour. go check it out if u wanna see the thing fully set up on the playa last year.
      some changes id consider next time around: 1) add velcro inside the windows for the window filters. 2) putting it inside the monkey hut, or under a shade structure would drastically reduce the need for fans/cooling. 3) i saw people on the playa use the blast shield, loosely clipped to the wall pullies instead of being staked to the ground. that could be a good trick for air flow, but id be worried about the wind kiting the blast shield.
      Here is the fans for the A/C walls: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072DSHKCH. They're USB plugged. They do provide some airflow - consider putting a filter on them as well. I will say, theyre not the strongest fans, but the solar panels powered them pretty easily. But if u check out my latest video, it was at least 15 degrees cooler inside, and then in front of my arctic air coolers, it was a nice 70 degrees

    thanks for this awesome overview! mind sharing the link to the fans you got?
    how did you rig them to the AC openings?

    • @stationjeckmode9107
      @stationjeckmode9107  Год назад

      There's an arm on the fans that I used to secure the vent holes with and I just tightened the sleeves over the fans. To be really secure, fixing a rubber band or bungee ball over the vent-sleeves and around the fans would do the trick a.co/d/9NWAunI

    Love this!! Could you please tell us more about Siesta tent vs. ShiftPod? I've been trying to do research for next year, and there aren't many blogs or people talking about it!!

    • @stationjeckmode9107
      @stationjeckmode9107  3 года назад +1

      Ooohhh siesta4 is really nice. It's just smaller. The big fans that attach to the walls make it really easy to cool down. That's a huge advantage over the shiftpod imo. There's a good amount of space in the siesta4, perfect for two people + gear. The space in the outer area won't be protected by dust, so keep that in mind.
      Fun fact - I was able to fit 17 people in a siesta 4!

    Hello everyone! Quick question, I have this same Shiftpod2 and I'm interested in potentially having circular fans in the ducts shown at 14:02. If it's 114 degrees at Burning Man, wouldn't we want to blow this 114 degrees air out of the tent, instead of in? Wouldn't inward airflow from these fans bring dust into the tent as well? Just trying to double check the logic here. May I please ask which circular fans were used for this? Did they get the job done? Thanks in advance! Cheers! 🙏

  • @BubblesandBass
    @BubblesandBass 5 лет назад +1

    HI!! Thank you for posting all your awesome BM videos. Two questions: Do the fans that are pumping in the air bring dust in as well? Where did you get the black AC filters for your windows? Thank you :)

    • @stationjeckmode9107
      @stationjeckmode9107  5 лет назад +1

      Thanks!! Last year's dust wasn't too bad, so I didn't need the filters for the soda can fans. If it got bad, I was going to rubber band some of the filter cloth over them.
      Here's the filter sheets I used. There's alot of it and it's all cut to measure. www.amazon.com/dp/B072FHD2B7

      station jeckmode I appreciate the link! One last question... were you happy with the Arctic Coolers? The reviews are less than 3 stars. I see so many others on Amazon and not sure which one to get.

    • @stationjeckmode9107
      @stationjeckmode9107  5 лет назад

      @@BubblesandBass hey hey - they work best in really dry climates (like deserts). They're a good cheap solution when the tent starts to heat up. I'd suggest one for yourself while u sleep in the hot mid mornings. They're like $25 used on Amazon and that's wayyy cheaper than building a bucket cooler if you don't feel like building. My latest video shows the temperature output inside the shiftpod.
      It's true that there are more powerful solutions, but this is cheap, runs off solar and doesn't take up much space. Keep in mind the new "Arctic air ultra's" do not run off USB, so stick with the original if you wanna run it off a USB solar panel or USB battery pack.
      I would also still suggest another fan circulating air in and out of the shiftpod as well. Air flow is really keep, just like any other tent/shade structure out there.
      Good luck!

    I just found the shift pod a week ago because I was looking for the absolute BEST Four Season shelter because I want to combine it with my invention, a Rocket Stove
    (in the-ground) Earthen Thermal Mass Heating System! It will heat a 100 +/- shelter easily, AND
    It will help keep it cool in summer also because Earth temps are always lower than ambient temperature...
    Tested in multiple locations king of hammers burning Man a lot of emergency situations they've improving intestine that's what I want to work with. They used YKK zippers and carbon graphite hubs and struts I was so impressed with her system just blown away like I had envisioned, EXACTLY what I envisioned An Ice Fishing Shelter Hub on steroids, that will be good for all ALL seasons Cold and hot weather both and high winds which I think we're going to be having to deal with more and more they're like a perfect emergency shelter and that's what I've been looking for for 20 years actually since I had a picture burned into my mind about 40 years ago of a bunch of tents across a pasture and I KNEW that they were refugees and if I didn't do something to help them they would die and then in the year 2000, 20 years later I had a powerful, -like real-time real-life Technicolor
    -like-I-was-there, vision of an underground house and a homeless Family. That shook up my world,
    charged me up and set me on a course that's included a website, a book, and a RUclips channel ALL with the same name; How To Get Out Of Babylon and ALL trying to figure out how to help homeless people in horrible and emergency situations.
    I think this is what I've come to other than building houses underground we need to have some shelter that will absolutely stand up to high winds and snow and ice and extreme temperatures; we will see heat and cold and this is like the most PERFECT thing I've ever found;
    "Space Age Tent for Space Age Conditions!!"

    • @stationjeckmode9107
      @stationjeckmode9107  5 лет назад

      I haven't used the bigger solar set ups before. I've seen the 100 watt set ups from harbor frieght work well, but I didn't have the time to figure out the wiring and set up. I kept watching for lightning deals on Amazon for the smaller USB ones. I also like the idea of separate panels since the energy is more concentrated. Set up worked really well this past burn too

      some people say the shiftpod is considered glamping. it's still a tent nonetheless. still needs to be cooled down and maintained for playa comfort. i wanted to keep the cooling for it solar so i can stay aligned with the "radical self-reliance" principle at the very least.
