    on an autogyro, the wind turbine's 'exhaust' becomes buoyant, holding the thing high if you have a prop.

    great vid guys made two .One like yours very unstable .number two added 3 inchs on each wing .No more wing wag and flys a lot more stable .Pluse used carbon push rods makes the plane more responsive in the air .
    thank for the shows guys keep up the good work .

    The rotors absolutely generate lift, they have angle of attack and there is air moving over them, so therefore you have lift!

    They do have a power source. The same power source that a fixed wing has - the forward motion of the craft. If you stopped the air flowing over the upper surface of the planes wing, the lift would disappear - it would stall. Bernoulli's Principle states that a gas or liquid exerts less pressure on a surface, the faster it moves. the only difference between an autogyro blade and a wing is the fact that it's being 'auto-rotated' by its movement through the air. (cont.)

    Ya, the rotors produce lift in autorotation. It's ok though, I really like the show.

  • @daxdadog
    @daxdadog 12 лет назад

    I guess it depends on whether you think of lift, as in the classic Bernoulli's principle type lift, with airflow over the curved upper surface of a wing creating a low pressure region, lifting the wing, or in the deflected airflow version...like sticking a board out your moving car's window, and angling the front edge up type lift. Technically, I guess they are both lift, but I bet Josh is thinking of the 1st type when he says it doesn't generate lift.

    Hardly. Retreating blade creates less lift. It's not usually a problem when you have multiple blades... but with one it is.

  • @drcuffe
    @drcuffe 12 лет назад

    I didn't mention drag? They may have, the wiki for autogyro also mentions the blades create drag and trust in balance. Trust by angle of attack/incidence.
    If the rotation was causing lift it would need an input power source to turn them, you cant say the force of the air going through them is causing them to turn and then say that the spinning motion is creating lift?? its one or the other and its the first one.
    Maple seed example is drag acting as a parachute? A better example FT flier

    Question, are the flights as short as you show with the 500mah batteries or do you shorten the flights for the video sake? how long will the f22 fly with a 500mah thats show to be with the build and im going to try a 850mah nanotach and see if that works for a longer flight

  • @AlfredoArbe
    @AlfredoArbe 12 лет назад

    Show its great, now lwts poin out some concepts
    Autogyros were invented by spanish engineer Juan de la Cierva ( go and wiki him).
    as they rotate Rotors CREATE LIFT, otherwise it would be the same to fly the autogyro with static rotors.Right power comes from motor, but the the autogiro will gently glide. In that sitiation rotating airfoils are still creating lift, no enough to make the plane climb,the same as glider wings creating lift when glider goes for landing.

  • @justakidfrommaine
    @justakidfrommaine 12 лет назад

    Josh Bixler is wrong when he says that this doesn't create lift. That is crazy- this plane works exactly like an autogyro. Saying that it sits on a pocket of air is incorrect. Why do you think the blades rotate?

  • @mamoshimamoshian1600

    EM!!! that was back than when people took Cd motors to make a Brushless motor affordable!!!? No My Friend. For most of us it was a Hubby, and we learned alot from it. I still make my own motors, the different is now, I try to make a Fri energy Brushless motors. JUST THINK if you had a motor which didnt need any outside source of power. It is Possible, and i really really want to achive that...:-)

  • @blackbirdpie217
    @blackbirdpie217 11 лет назад +1

    Holy #$!%?!! the rotors produce LIFT! They are rotating wings. They don't stall because they are still rotating.The aircraft can stop moving forward, but the wings are still flying. Also you can't produce drag, it's a product of motion. And Buoyancy infers lighter than air like a balloon. It's not buoyant! It is heavier than air! Geez guys.
