"Having work in an office far too much, getting paid far too little for far too much stress" Ouch ! Right in the feels. I hope one day to find your courage Bo, to switch life. Respect.
I’ve been a drystone walling for 4 years know, it’s taken me to Scotland, and I live and work in Cumbria and it’s a great career to go into. And you walling is excellent work keep it up :)
It's really nice to see people taking care of and restoring those old walls! They really add alot to the surrounding landscape. It seems like a skill that has been almost completely lost over here in Sweden, where most stone walls you see are in the 'derelict' state.
I am a native herb farm in Korea. Always be healthy and happy. I'll see you often as a RUclips friend. Let's say hello to each other. 좋은영상 잘보고갑니다. 유투브도 승승장구하시길 응원합니다. 👍
Cold wet miserable and difficult...sounds great compared to my current employment. Beautiful job! Congratulations finding something that you excel at and you like!
Absolute admiration, respect and even some envy. There is everything to love about stone walls and hedgerows, ecologically and atheistically and functionally.
Preservation work for such a fundamental part of the landscape-beautiful job, and one sorely needed in many parts of the world! You are an amazing builder, Bo; can't really tell where the old and the new parts merge 😊 I live in the New England part of the US, and our landscape is covered in rock walls, many of them in abandoned or derelict condition....one of the olds local jokes about the land here is that rocks are our biggest farm crop every spring 😁 It would be wonderful to see them being restored standing as strong as they were when first made, guarding and defining the areas they surround.
I think it’s for drainage because if there weren’t those holes water would accumulate, most likely damage the base of the walls, and create a lot of mud.
Hi. Thanks for your question. The song is called Dry Stone Walling, by Old Man Pie. You can find it on RUclips and on SoundCloud. The film maker had permission from the composer to use it. It is rather a neat fit with the content of the film! I hope you enjoyed it.
Here we go :D ruclips.net/video/T33CKtvx0zw/видео.html Old Man Pie Dry Stone Walling Lyrics I lift up the stone, and I put it in place, it was meant to go there, All shapes and sizes flash before my eyes. And here is the wall, the wall that I built, steadily growing, A structure that will stand the test of time. I build a wall around my home, It keeps out enemies and friends. I stop for a moment, and the rain it is sweeping across this gray land, And I look out, through the mist up to the hills. A figure is lurking, he is watching me carefully, he sees every move, But I won't be put off by what it means. I build a wall around my home, It keeps out enemies and friends. These hands they are weathered, by the wind and the rain and the stone and the earth, that lies inside the valleys where I'm from. And when I am gone, this wall will remain to mark out the land that is owned by no-one, no-one in the end. I build a wall around my home, It keeps out enemies and friends. Death comes to the valley, and he carries strange tools that are used for destruction, and breaking up the spirits of this land. Bury me near the wall, the wall that I built of dry stone and of rubble, that sits well in a landscape lost in time. I build a wall around my heart, It keeps out enemies and friends.

Exellent. Like commenting along the video ...though need see some wall techniques...next.
Noted!
this is something i would love to do, any advice on a course local to oxford
Hi, are the small openings at the bottom of the wall for water run-off?
Just booked myself on a 2day course, just because it looks fun.
Is there enough work out there to make it a full time career?
Wonderful video!
Are those small holes in the bottom of the wall for small animals to pass trough?
I think it’s for drainage because if there weren’t those holes water would accumulate, most likely damage the base of the walls, and create a lot of mud.
They are called Lunkies. For animals and water to pass through.
@@lukedecol1505 Thanks!
Why the holes in the bottom of the walls?
idk why in this context but if i had to guess maybe flood holes for floods or weep holes for rains

Amazing.
Looks great. But I've always liked mortor joints more personally
What’s this song called

What a nice video and an interesting young woman but I think the music was a bit duff and distracting
Does anybody know what the song is?
Watch to the end, it was credited ...
