It is a New Zealand wood that has special qualities for violin making, for the back instead of maple. Violins made from this wood have a unique mellow tone. 100 years ago foresters called this wood 'The singing tree" because when they cut a Mangeao tree down with a 2 man hand saw, the saw would sing like when a saw is played by a violin bow. This rare tree is actually a close relative of Avocado. I enjoy your playing very much, and two other great Ukrainian musicians, Valentina Lisitsa and the best pianist ever, Horowitz. If Paganini was alive today he would be amazed to hear his music being played by gorgeous women, two forms of beauty uniting to celebrate the creativity God gave us. Slava Ukraine.
