    "Get a better wallet" It's my Trezor that's done this... lol.

    • @desther
      @desther 3 года назад +3

      Well Trezor as a hardware just basically manages your keys and sign transactions. You are not forced to use Trezor Suite or Trezor website wallet which sure both are very limited. So in this case you can just connect your Trezor to let's say Wasabi wallet (not sure if this exact wallet support doublespending but you got a point) and just construct transaction there.

    • @SkLLzDaTkLLs
      @SkLLzDaTkLLs 3 года назад

      @@desther Thanks a lot for that response. I've just been concerned because I've seen or heard of malicious copies of these wallets that have siphoned everything from people. Is there any risk of that with Electrum or what have you?

    • @sunchips5
      @sunchips5 3 года назад +1

      I love my Trezor, except this wallet on its own will leave you in suspended animation if you are stuck in the mempool.
      I tried to speed up a Trezor transaction but it appeared this feature is not available through the Trezor. In any event, the transaction in question did clear after 2-and-a-half days on its own. I did put in for a low fee on it, but not a crazy low fee. Several other transactions at lower fees had cleared pretty quickly. I got unlucky; the btc network remained continously busy for several days after I entered the transaction.

    Unrelated, and probably silly, question; I imported my public key into electrum (from a hardware wallet) as a watch-only wallet.
    I noticed there are multiple bitcoin addresses (I'm guessing for privacy reasons; harder to track transactions, wallet size, etc). Generally a new one gets used after each transaction. If I wanted to use one of those addresses for something like a "Tip Button", would it work? Can those addresses be reused?

    • @JonathanCr0ss
      @JonathanCr0ss 3 года назад +1

      Yes, it's best to use a fresh address for every payment received. If you do not, then anyone who knows your address can see all of the payments you are receiving.
      If you imported an xpub into electrum (sounds like it) then yes, all of those addresses should be part of your HD wallet. You can receive payments on any of and all of them.
      Just be careful not to leave large gaps between the last used address and new the used addresses. If it's less than 10 you should have no problem.

      @@JivanPal Mike Green is a quant for Logica Capital and has some damming criticisms about Bitcoin. Mainly how it works and it's flaws (His words not mine) use cases, the geopolitical risks it poses and how he thinks it's a negative to society. @aantonop The only issue is if everyone moves to a better wallet and pays increased fees, everyone will end up paying more but the number of transactions processed by the bitcoin network will remain the same. The problem is there are too many transactions. Paying a higher fee just passes your problem on to another user/transaction as the network does not increase its tx processing capabilities based on the fees paid. The only real solution is to create smaller more efficient transactions using segwit or any new technologies that allow transaction size to be decreased.
