The Return of a Eurorack Classic // Ultra Random Redux by Steady State Fate

- Опубликовано: 2 авг 2024
- Here we have the return of what I think is fair to say a Eurorack classic. The Ultra Random Redux is a new version of the 2014 release, the Ultra Random Analog. It’s a powerful and flexible random voltage generator and processor for both audio and CV applications.
Throughout the video I’ll go through each section and feature with musical examples that will show you how you can use these features and apply these things to your systems, whether specifically with the Ultra Random Redux or just applying these patch ideas with things you already have. Give them a try and let me know how you get on in the comments.

Finally! It's been out of stock forever and not available used. Obviously the old one was so good nobody would sell it.
It's great to see it's back with some new twists too.
Didn't have the original but this is a mighty update. Super interesting set of features for a random module.
Great patch ideas as always here, thanks! S&H are probably my most under utilised modules this is a good kick up the back side ;)
I love S/H ... hence the RND STEP (also with SSF). Lots of other goodies in this too.
Just got it. It’s great!!!!
Yeah really nice work from Andrew on this one.
Never should have sold my OG. Felt like I was barely using it to its full potential though - glad to see it’s back!
Thats a Killer Utility
I agree. Though I see random generation as an exciting and often unique part of modular (vs non modular) synthesis. Not that you said it wasn't, but I know some see utility as less interesting sometimes.
@DivKid Utilities are game changers and enable much articulation that would other wise be complicated or unachievable
Cheers Divkid
Sample and Holds are Ace as a certain Brit would say
all well said :)
want already!
SLIDEY GLIDEY! ... I mean .. HARD SYNC! Not sure if Redux is more of a direct replacement or more complimentary to the original URA. Seems like a bit of each! Thanks for the overview. Excellent as always.
slidey glidey ... haha I talk some rubbish.
Thanks!
Don’t change a thing. 😝
appreciate that
Yes, I wondered the same thing, even emailed SSF. So, is this a more powerful version of the URA or another module completely?
I was looking at the Frap Tools Sapel (again) the other day, but kept hesitating due to size and lack of input possibilities. However, this seems to be a module that does almost what Sapel does (without dedicated noise sources) in 10hp, which for a small system is so useful.
the noise sources are hiding in there, they just need coaxing out as the video shows. But they're not independent from the other processes. It's built on the ideas and design of the URA. But the URR is a new design, improved circuits and performance, lost a couple of things, gained a couple.
Niceee
thanks
I only watch Divkid for his immaculate jazzhands... i dream about them.... i want to be them..... oh the jazzhands....
my therapist says I dont talk about divkids jazzhands enough, so ... here i am.... jazzkid is what my gf says im "too into" and "we need a divorce" and "im sleeping with kyle" ..whatever all that cryptic stuff means
we take 3 years of jazz hand class here in England. Especially in the north where it's 1 year of beginner finger wiggles, second year swing and blue note finger tips and the final year where it goes hard into the acid jazz scene and coordinated morse code finger taps.
@@DivKid damnit.. all we have in america is guns and hookers
I long for the day of second year swing and blue note tips.... and brinta.... we dont have that
I've never heard of brinta so it's falsified anglophile fakery I reckon.
@@DivKid hahahaha
I bet they could deliver a brutal purple nurple
any chance theres of run down of the modules you got in your main case there? Id recognize most of them however would love to see your full setup with your eurorack setup cheers keep up the good work
this is something I used to write up for Patreon supports as a PDF with a modular grid image of the case too. Never got much traction so I don't do it anymore. But yeah sure ....
Module names only, top row, left to right then working down.
Multiplikand, Ochd, Ochd Expander, pams pro workout, RND STEP, entity metalloid, Ceres, Black Stereo Delay 2, Vortices expander, Vortices
Entity Ultra Kick, Stereo Dipole, Ultra Random Redux, DATA, Steady State Gate, Entity Ultra Perc, IOU
Next Tuesday, Eloquencer, Sena, Fuji, Samples.
Reverb scalpers are crying today 😂
Has the OG URA fallen victim to stupid asking prices?
Hard synch. Rather enjoyed the brief patch using noise bursts as percussion 👍🏼
the 5 different noise colours? Yeah I liked that too. Typically I'd sample all that out and build up some kits to use, but when they're all in that module (noise colours) I'll do it in the case and throw it all into a VCA.
