    first time catching a video, there is a lot of great content here to keep the player-base rolling without confusion on just the consumable segment, great work! Also there is a point that you don't necessarily need to fill every slot. A bad habit is to always take full kit to every game. Tool slots for me are the bread and butter, but the consumable slot is basically a support bar in how I build. Each player is different and different solutions prop up from different play styles. Only take what you plan to use in consumables as often the game will offer you consumable boxes and loot bodies to fill slots accordingly.
    For example: Vetterli, scottfield you can make a ammo save by taking nuckle knife, throwing knives/axes, and you can take decoys, fuses, or fake dyno that allows you mobility and play ability
    1) Basic decoys are very handy. (just noticed there is a video from this channel explaining decoys so wont go further then already typed)
    A) Silently can break lanterns above cages and with some skill can even make players think your in a separate location by setting off cages, birds, or even hit doors during your rotation.
    B) cheap (6$) option to make better use of throw-able options while using terrain, they make sounds of hunter foot steps on all surface types, giving a trick to positioning, if you throw behind cover thats common then often you can squeak a window licker to peek that spot and land a cheeky kill if your quick and accurate
    2) Throwing knives, Throwing Axes, and Fuses have an absolute power play built in depending on scenarios, however they often save consumables outright or can fake consumables if you don't!
    A) Blankfire decoys and Fuses have insane ability to be a pain, but they have 1 instantly common prospect, throwing them at barrels will auto detonate them (For that matter you can also place lanterns in places that allow you to hurl at barrels within a set area if you don't have traps), standard fuses are great for getting rid of attacking bees, igniting oil (Which can create a instant oil fire wall as well as delay the barrel from exploding for a moment to give a delay to your location. This is a easy counter to hive bombs as well as creates a blanket of light during night fights and noise opportunities (cheap for 3 to 4 throws).
    B) Thrown Weapons have there own features damages, and reflect that as such
    1) Throwing knives count as pierce, when swinging them they count as rend, however with the trait for upgrading melee it switches to pierce for heavy with more dmg
    2) Throwing Axes drop like a brick and hit hard while carrying less throw-able then the thrown knives, the axes are best suited at killing AI by hitting weak-points as its rend damage is the only dmg type it gets even with the melee perk. This makes the weapon which 1 taps hunters center mass a great choice for killing high priority heavy targets like the Armored category as 1 weak-point hit (head-shot or back) can seriously beat it or almost kill it
    3) All throwing weapons can be grabbed out of the target, so if they are bleeding and they have little time to fix it, you can charge and grab the knife/axe and it will generally repeat the damage per item pulled out (same for crossbow shots, all of these also can be used with bolt seer and be used to track a person who your teammate might be chasing after as well)
    C) As the blankfires are a gun type, fuse decoys act like a dynamite/frag and make noise to compensate, you can throw 1 of these and 1 of the real ones side by side and then switch it up as you fight to create a random element as people don't know what is live grenades or not, which save you time, resources, and can stretch time for revives!
    On average my kit would be Vetterli, scottfield, knuckle knife, med-kit, fuse (choke if in team), and decoys/throwing axe
    Consumables for the kit above I'd run 2 vit shots, 1 stam shot, 1 regen shot
    (this creates a somewhat flex-able kit as I have stealth, utility, heals, and AI orientated kit in hand without wasting my weapon choice on ammo/variant to do what a tool slot can. This also opens up weapon opportunities people dont usually think of, such as Specter Shotgun with Le Matt for additional shotgun ammo and a fairly reliable pistol option)
    Another great way to add utility to a weapon is alternate fire options don't have to be devastating. A Le Matt pistol can switch the shotgun to star shell which can be used as a expedient to detonate barrels in fights, set off crows, remove incoming bees without changing from a fire-arm (it sounds like a flare gun so they will probably try to push it thinking your switching at times, this gives counter fire to there push).
    Keep an open mind as there are a lot of game-play opportunities to mess with!

      @@HuntShowdownLab a lot of this stuff is overlooked. I'd say showing utility and how these things work can be really neat. Most of the time reading doesnt get the point accross so you might want to add to it and do your own video showcasing scenarios and how you'd use it. Again cobtebt looks solid so far so i just threw a couple good reminders in there, most of which we overlook till we do it on accident lol

      It's a bad habit to not fill your consumable slots.
      Always two healing consumables (no debate on that), stamina shot and antidote shot.
      Stamina is mobility and antidote is a whole debuff/effect negated for most of the game.
      You can use them at the start of game or as soon you see refill.
      It's a nobrainer unless you intent to run from all fights and just want to farm money.

    6 Star Player here with over 2,000 hours. Do NOT use your Stamina shot at the beginning of a gunfight. If you haven't already used it yet (to find clues rapidly and aren't running Conduit), then hold it for the "final chase" or "final run." Experienced players will know exactly what I'm referring to for either scenario. In regards to Regeneration shot, you can pop it at the beginning of a gunfight, which is not a bad idea for new players. But as you gain more experience and become better, you'll learn NOT to pop it immediately. Instead, hold on to it UNTIL you get hit. Why? As you get better in gunfights, you and your buddies will begin to wipe teams without even taking a scratch and if you popped it already, then that's a total waste of a Regeneration shot, which could have come in handy for a subsequent fight in that same match. So, as you get more comfortable with your squad and entering into gunfights, learn to hold on to it until you get hit. Then pop that baby, especially if multiple teams are around. The rest is solid advice for new players. Enjoy my fellow hunters and see you in the bayou. :)

    Another tip: be consistent as to which slot you assign your tools and consumables. A gunfight can go a lot smoother if you only need to tap a number key to bring out your Medkit or Vitality Shot, instead of frantically scrolling the mousewheel.

    This is one of my biggest pieces of advice to people I introduce to Hunt. Being hyper aware of every tool and trait you have can truly make or break a game. I became a significantly better player myself when I learned this skill.

  • @fourblossoms
    @fourblossoms 9 месяцев назад +3

    2 Tips that helped me a lot: First, i set my loadout to "always visible" and then changed the opacity down to like 0.2. This way it doesn't obscure my vision at all, and you will ALWAYS know what is in your loadout. I changed it after i died to someone and swapped weapons to check my loadout and wasnt ready to shoot back because i was in the swapping animation.
    Second: stop using mouse wheel to pick your stuff, assign fixed buttons for example vitality shots, you need them quick and you also need some muscle memory to pull them in a stressy situation. When you are being chased by a melee like in the clip you don't really wanna go and scroll back and forth 3 times before you hit the item you want. Also even if you hit it instantly, it is still slower to equip because the game still waits a bit to see if you don't keep scrolling.
    Sorry if these have been stated already, didn't read through all comments. Happy Hunting!

    • @HuntShowdownLab
      @HuntShowdownLab  9 месяцев назад

      I actually have a 12 button map and have everting set to its own button. I’ve just been too lazy to do the muscle memory bit.
      That chase was so goofy. The scrolling back and forth was actually me thinking what to do and if I would be able to actually win it with the talon.
      I appreciate the tips, thanks for chiming in!

    Great video. Although I respectfully disagree with the one statement you made. You had said “If you and your opponent both don’t know where each other are, consider tossing a consumable where your best guess of their location is.”
    I think you are right to an extent , but in the example clip provided, I don’t think that was the best idea. If you are behind hard cover, then sure, if you think someone is within throwing distance of like a frag bomb, then let er rip. But in a tall field like that, where the cover is just visual and not hard cover(like a brick wall) I don’t think it’s a good idea. If they are close enough to you, they can either shoot where they hear the fuse getting lit, or just push right into you, if they’re close enough.
    I guess what I’m saying is you are fairly vulnerable to an extent when you’re in the process of lighting and throwing something with a longer fuse time.
    Just my two cents, great video regardless. Appreciate your content.

This is my go to loadout for 90% of the time. I never run out of money. there's an option that lets you have your equipment always visible but semi transparent which I always use. Never felt obstructed, and it helps immensely with making me remember what I have. switching just to see what you have is a huge waste of attention you need focused on what's around you, not to mention the noise caused by switching without whispersmith. I consistently take decoy fuses, with shots and a beetle (maybe ammo box if my guns need it) because I know that 9 times out of 10 a decoy does the same job anyway assuming you're not spamming buildings hoping to get lucky or something, and at the same time creates unique opportunities for revival, healing and rushdowns since it creates an area only you and your teamates (who you'd better communicate what you throw to) are allowed to be in for the 6 second duration and turns backs where you want them, yet when I do loot a bomb from a box or something I am still quite likely to use it if a situation for it comes because it's always on my screen. Second note; Maybe you have a more aggressive playstyle that makes you confident you'll end the fight before your regen, but I strongly disagree with saying regen shots are better used pre-emptively always. ever since the update that lets you respec I've been taking consistent doctor (respecing legendary hunters and stacking hunters to maximize dark tribute points) and regen shots without vitalities and I use the regens to "top off" my hp if I can't justify using a full heal, but especially with weak shots if I were using them beforehand they'd become useless in far too many situations. By all means there are lots of appropriate times to pre-pop a regen, but you need to make sure you're reasonably confident you're not going to be held up by staking out shotgun campers, chasing running away teams, or even the complete opposite effect from "single peek fights" where you're only taking a single hit that justifies a full heal without having time to wait for regen (though considering the heal speed update and vigor doubling the effect maybe you're able to have time to regen more often). healing a theoretical 10 or so hp between getting hit twice and it saving your life is possible but usually unlikely, make sure you know the risks of both pre-popping and saving your regen and make an informed bet on what will happen and what will be needed. that all aside keep in mind this is coming from someone who has a person they never play without and always have voice comms with (except ratting but that doesn't count) so my experience is a little different from most and very different from solo players.

    1-Frag/Dynamite bundle, frag has more killing power and pressure the enemy with bleed when it doesn't kill them but Dynamite has more utility
    2-Concertina bomb, great for aoe denial and body lockdown, boss lair defense as well as killing people if you got them cornered
    3-Poison bomb for sneaky body lockdown, most of the time people won't have poison resist so this+concertina tripwire will kill them if they got necro'ed (even with Resillience trait) and allow you to do other thing rather than guarding the body to prevent revive
    4-This one is for utility, for general use i bring a small regen shot especially if i my last hp bar is a small one, it save so many med kit charges in the long run, if not then a stamina shot or bettle is neat to have on hand

    I take regen, stam, antidote every game. With the new buffs, you can replace doctor + physician with vigor and heal insanely fast without sacrificing move speed. My 4th consumable slot is either an ammo box or a concertina bomb. Once you realize how easy it is to find tool boxes or climb towers for a free consumable, you don't really need to bring frag/dynamite/firebombs into a match ever again. If I'm running a shotgun I'll switch out the concetina bomb for a frag just because room clearing is fun. One thing I notice playing with less experienced hunters is that they forget to use their choke bombs for any reason other than putting out fire. You can obscure vision from a sniper to get a sneaky rez, flush people out of boss lairs (or just make them cough for easier wallbangs. Even just tossing one out from behind cover when you're about to peak can make people holding the corner lose focus for a second and give you an advantage.

    My key to having maintained a pretty penny's worth of money despite not having prestieged in the past ~500hrs is simply bringing relatively barebones loadout, consisting only of things that I know that ill use somewhat frequently or tings that I'm very familiar with as well as being dependent on the "game climate"
    If I'm getting insta-headshot the moment I turn a corner across a compound every match, I'll only bring 2 weak vitality shots on top of my regular toolset (50-25-25-50 or triple 50 will fully heal with a weak vitality if the first 50 is halfway healed)
    If I'm finding myself in attrition situations, I'll probably bring 3 as well as a regen shot (weak)
    Realizing the romero loaded with one set of slug and one of buckshot still being cheaper than a rival was also a pretty big mindbreak, taking my budget weapon game to the next level lol

    This really screwed me over at one point and that once instance of what could have been an easy kill being lost made me seriously think about what guns I want it on. Which really is overkill considering it's not too often you run into chickenwire.

    • @PoshBeard
      @PoshBeard 9 месяцев назад +4

      It's a bit of a weird one, depending on how you hit it, it can either let the bullet pass through with a small dmg reduction or completely eat your bullet. Fighting around chicken wire is really messy, especially with shotguns, and I don't recommend it. If you're up close enough to the wire, though, you can pop a shot through the holes between the links.
