Pharmaceutical giant, AstraZeneca has admitted for the first time that its Covid vaccine can cause rare side effects. It comes after the pharma giant faces a class-action lawsuit in the UK that alleges that its Covid vaccine, which was developed with the help of University of Oxford, has led to several deaths and serious injury. In the court documents, AstraZeneca said that its vaccine might lead to a rare blood clotting condition called TTS (Thrombosis with Thrombocytopenia Syndrome). This rare syndrome, which is characterised by blood clots (thrombosis) and low platelet counts (thrombocytopenia), is also termed as VITT, which stands for 'vaccine-induced immune thrombotic thrombocytopenia'. AstraZeneca's Covid vaccine was administered in India under the name, Covishield.

My only question to the Government of India:
Why was COVAXIN (the true Indian Vaccine) not administered en masse for the Indian citizens and instead the Health Department chose COVISHIELD which is after all a product of Oxford, not India ?
Why were we forced upon this foriegn product when Modi himself jabbed with the indigenous version?
Now, someone was surely making profits while random friends and acquaintances are suddenly dying of heart attacks.
Just a few weeks back the father of my son's friend suddenly died in the afternoon though having no history of any heart disease or any serious ailments.
Perhaps, India is on the road to being from the most populated nation to the least number of citizens.

The only proof that COVAXIN is safe rather than the other available Vaccines is the ZERO cases reported anywhere after it's administration.
Mostly COVAXIN was given to small children or a few lucky adults. As of today, there are no cases reported of adverse effects from any children or adults receiving COVAXIN doses.
If you have any known cases please report immediately to the Government and the media. Better initiate a police case against the Government.
Till anything otherwise is reported anywhere, we have to accept that COVAXIN is safe.
The same goes for any Vaccination programme used for children everyday like Pulse Polio, DPT, MMR, etc. Unless, there are any symptoms of adverse reactions reported they are taken as safe.

I understand the uproar in people. I’m a doctor and be assured that the problem of happening this to you is one in couple of millions. Every vaccine comes with inherent risks let’s say for eg. Polio vaccine which has been developed and improved over decades now , there is still risk of contracting polio known as VAPP (vaccine associated paralytic polio) though one in millions is the risk we still survey for these side effects. But the consequences of not taking the vaccine are far lethal. There is nothing white or black in healthcare, we have to assess the risk , if the benefits outweighs the risk we use it. Case fatality rate(death rate among patients) COVID was 3-5 per 100 during peak wave. Chances of death due to disease were far greater. It’s clear statistics. No govt wants to unalive its citizens for much they are paying taxes! Vaccines work on immunity which cannot be controlled, some might have adverse reaction some may not even feel anything. I’m not a political person neither believe in any party for people will be accusing me of bhakt. Pandemic is very much a burden for the country as much as it is for you. The only possible reason that they didn’t explicitly told is the risk is not a major one and media would have blown it unproportionally like they are doing it now ultimately affecting people avoiding the vaccine and leading to more deaths. You can be sure there is no magic , it is science, ever evolving, there will be day when we have perfect vaccines. But rest assured, they did what was humanely possible I wouldn’t have done it any better to serve a population of billions in record time! I took the same vaccine so did my family. Hope this helps as things like this instill fear more than awareness.
