    Happy new year, Chump! I just received your serrano tampiqueno and scotch bonnet seeds, planted them instantly.
    Two years, I’ve been given mislabeled seeds (habanero instead of SB), and I trust you’re among the most reliable actors in this game.
    Been following your work for three years now, happy to see your followers base growing.
    Best regards from Norway.

    My first ever hot sauce is now in the Erlenmeyer Flask!!! I'm going to let it mix for three weeks due to how much I made.

    nice I just chopped em all up and covered the gardens with the itty bitty pieces so they can decompose under the snow and i had no aphids so it's good.

    Do you keep any plants for multiple seasons? Some of my Scotch bonnets are around 8 years old and fantastic producers. I usually take them out of the pot and put fresh potting mix (your recipe is great!) into the bottom of the pot and put them back in.

      I overwinter a couple plants. But it can get expensive to heat through the winter. And I found that the fruit from older plants aren't as tasty or spicy as the first couple of years

    • @pitch123pitch
      @pitch123pitch Месяц назад +3

      @ChilliChump ah I'm in Australia so we don't have that heating problem 😉 Interesting about the flavour of older plants, I'll have to grow a new bonnet next season to compare. Keep up the great work, love the channel and thanks for all the advice in the videos.

    I can imagine with the dust in the main greenhouse.
    With the plants dying and drying out, makes a perfect habitat for mold with the residual moisture in the air.

    I like to rake my soil from the pots into the lawn each fall. I get new soil every year. I do this to avoid bringing insects into my greenhouse because their eggs stay alive through the winter. New soil costs me about 100 bucks. The lawn loves it to

    Happy new year to you and Mrs CC, have you thought about doing an experiment with your worms and your old compost to see if they can process it and add any benefit?

    • @ChilliChump
      @ChilliChump  Месяц назад

      Happy new year Barry! The worms wouldn't really process the used soil. They need food to be able to process, so I guess you could use the old soil for bedding. But a better way would be to use processed vermicompost to amend the used soil, kind of like what I already do.

    Have you considered processing 'due' peper stumps and root clumps through a wormcomposting system? My worms love that and return it into gold to re-enter it anywhere else in the system :-) Love your content!

    • @ChilliChump
      @ChilliChump  Месяц назад +1

      I have a worm composting setup. I am breeding works at the moment to add to this pile I'm creating, so essentially they will be processing the stumps too! In the past I have put the roots directly in my work bins, they break those down eventually. Check out my composting channel to see my breeding efforts youtube.com/@VermiChump

    Happy New Year Shaun! When I heard you mentioning seed starting, my ears perked right up lol If your compost were covered over during the winter, would the decay process speed up? This morning the temperature here is -9C and cooling with snow and wind moving in. The moisture is really needed in these parts. However inside the starting mix has been dampened and seeding in is beginning. See you in the morning. Stay Spicy! -Bob...
