My great grandfather, a well known surgeon and editor of The Lancet, had a near death experience in the nineteenth century. The story was passed down in my family. He was under surgery at the time, he saw his body and the people standing around, he was drawn to the light, then he was dragged back, somewhat unwillingly, down to his body. I heard of it in the 1950s. It seemed it was fairly well known, even then, that such things happened.
That's interesting ! Do you have anymore information about it ? Could you possibly give a name ? Don't worry if you'd rather not.
Well, my mother who told me the story is no longer with us, in fact that whole generation is gone, and I was 9 or so years old when I heard the story, so I cannot remember any more, but I have some idea that he did not want to come back to earth but was informed it was not yet his time. As he was quite a famous figure in his time, I am rather unwilling to give his name; he has numerous other descendants and I would have to ask them first, and I can foresee problems.

Great interview with Mr Atzmuller. Most people even today don’t want to believe because it puts their entire “sleep” existence into question and they don’t want to ponder questions about the true meaning of life, afterlife and consciousness. It’s easier to go through life asleep or clueless about these things, hence the state of the world.

Watching him now , I find listening to these stories has made me reflect on my own life . I find someone will pop into my mind and I will remember how I have wronged this person and I sincerely pray for forgiveness . For me life has definitely been the lesson itself , the older I get the more thoughtful I become I wish I had learnt these lessons sooner as this wonderful gentlemen did .
This man's humour is so heartwarming.
He has a very mischievous smile. I've listened to a number of NDE and I'm always pleased when people give similar accounts. His experience is a bit different from other experiences I've heard but it's another good account and proof that we are consciousness and immortal which is very comforting.

Thank you for the interview. I was saddened when I heard about his mother's suicide, particularly after telling that they had a great relation.
I, too, was crushed to hear of his mother’s suicide. It must have been devastating to him and his family.
I don't think their relationship was as good as he thinks. If it was, she would have listened to him, let him talk about it with her, rather than shutting him out. 😢

Yet another amazing nde! Thank you so much for this and the translation. I am fascinated by his emphasis on intention being key. Major events such as the tragic car accident that he attempted to stop seem to be nonnegotiable. Rather, it seems all about how we react to things. Many important lessons are reflected in this story. For those who tried their best but are plagued by “what if’s” this episode will help.
Intention was certainly a point. But I wonder whether God was also interested in knowing whether he had made peace with his actions. Accepted his misgivings and forgiven his self for them. Somewhat related to the concept of karma? Thank you for your comment. 🙏

I went out of my sleeping body in 1979 i wasn't ill and i could see me asleep lay on my right side, i could also see clearly at whatever i looked at even in a dark room and felt a cocoon of warmth around me..a just right kind of warmth, it lasted about 30 seconds or so.

Josef is so delightful! I can see now that, because he is very sensitive to his "bad" deeds, he didn't review his good deeds and his personal experience was all about accepting the totality of himself but from one angle. His countenance and his story just glows. Fascinating.

Read chapter 43 of Autobiography of Yogi by Yoganand published in 1946. It clearly mentioned what happens after death and this person experience matching what explained in the book. To understand read that chapter 3-4 times and listen this video 3-4 times

It is interesting that you still believe in this after listening to NDE…there are not sins! That was created by religion and all the NDE demonstrates completely the opposite. It is about LOVE, LOVE,LOVE in a way that no one in this physical can understand love, not even when we think we love our partners or children. The love we will receive is unconditional. This is one aspect that reminds me of Jesus: LOVE.
