    We did a test with the three different colors on a common house cat and the cat's eyes dilate less with the red light than with any of the other two.

    Awesome, very informative. This will improve my coyote hunting for sure!!! Infrared will be the best way to scan at night. I hunt northern central Ohio at night. Open fields, so scanning with a light can prove to be not the way to do it. Thank you....

    Years ago i was using gen 1 night vision with the IR that had a tiny red glow. I could see deer in the early evening or full moon and when I turned on the IR to see better the deer at 75 yards spooked every time.

    The Best light is one like the big one he showed (aircraft landing light) that you modify by installing a reostat on the rear. Then you wire in a toggle switch to the housing that turns on the light. Make sure the lights trigger bypasses the reostat. So when hunting the light gets turned on via toggle switch and you turn the reostat DOWN TO LOWEST SETTING! Then adjust it up little by little just enough to be able to see eyes. Then leave the dimmed down light on the whole time you call and scan.Then when you pick up eyes get on the critter with your gun and when you are ready to shoot you say..." Burn 'em" and your partner pulls the lights trigger and the full strength of the sealed beam light comes on lighting up the critter like daylight and you shoot.With this set up you never have to change any filters making noise that spooks critters and you never have to have more light than you need at any time when your just looking at eyes. When you use a, let's say, 100 watt light that's red, that will spook a critter more than a 100 watt white lite that is turned Way Down because it looks kind of Orange/Amber when adjusted way down with a reostat and the intensity is a lot less because you have decreased the wattage using the reostat.When the critter gets burned by the high power white light it dies within a millisecond because the shooter shoots the instant his partner burns 'm. AND the light is SO POWERFUL that it Blinds the critter for a second giving the shooter an extra second to shoot. Walk out a ways and have your partner shine the light at you when it is reostated way down and then have him burn you and you will see just badly you get blinded...and animals are a lot more light sensitive than humans, especially Bobcats because they have more Rod Cells in their eyes than canines making them more light sensitive than Yotes or Fox.Happy Hunting

      Tony Lopiccolo Thanks for the feed back. I do not have any of me night hunting due to the fact that it is extremely hard to solo film while hunting at night in close quarters here in North Carolina. Thanks for watching the video and let me know if tree is any questions I can answer. Be sure to subscribe. And check out Rocks Edge Gear for their cover scent and camo.

    western nc green and white led is all we use because of how thick woods are ive had zero issues with white lights hell i can leave a white light under bait cam and watch em come in ......same goes for animals being slow in middle of road or along highway its what they are comfortable to..

    Thanks, I'm just west of you in South East Tn and coyotes have destroyed my deer and turkey here. I'm using a Savage 17 HMR due to the closeness of other homes around me. I was wondering about the lights because at 3 am when the coyotes gather on the bank outside of my window and sing me a serenade, I can flip the lights on and there is nothing there. I'm, building a box blind out in the middle of the hay field. We just cut and rolled it last week and even tho I have killed 2 pups they are still here. So, this helps a lot. Will tell you how I did.

    I'm new to predator hunting. I live in Alabama, which is lots of wooded area, hills, hollar's and some smaller type fields (the opposite of hunting out west.) its march, temps in the 60s. I tried using a foxpro caller with decoy and cant get the coyotes to present themselves. We cant legally hunt at night. Alabama may not have great coyote populations, but the people contacted me saying they hear them at night and I found tracks etc...... any suggestions would be appreciated?

      Right now is the tail end of the rut for the coyotes. I would try hunting them at first light and last light. Probably only worth going 2 sets per day if it has to be day time. Start off each set with coyote pair yip howl. Sit there and do not make a sound for 5 minutes. After that. Play the same sound. coyote pair yip howl. Let sit for another 5 minutes.
      After that. Play a distress sound such as an eastern cottontail distress or a baby cottontail distress. only play it for about 2 minutes while fading the volume in and out. After 2 minutes. give about a 1 minute break. Then increase the volume and start again. Do this about 3 or 4 times and after that stay quite for about 5 minutes. After that plat a coyote pup distress about 5 or 6 volume numbers from max volume. Be sure to fade the sound in and out but never max the volume all the way out. After about 5 or 7 minutes of doing this, let everything die down for another 5 or 10 minutes. If nothing happens then get out of there.
      Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!!

    Personally I have always been a fan of red lights for night all around... They don't blind you like white light and the don't mess with your eye adjustment for your own night vision

  • @rogersmicharl
    @rogersmicharl 6 лет назад +4

    red is better, red light hardly reflects the surroundings ,green light gets absorbed by the natural white light, red lights cut thru bushes and give you a better sight of an approacking coyote, especiall the reflection of the eyes. if you move the red light back and forth scanning the area and a coyote comes into view he want be able to see you keep the red light on him then tur on your white light on your rifle then turn the red light off , he want be able to see you with the whight light on. then kill them..

      Roger Goodwin they can see all
      Light, just like us. How ever, some lights they react to more than others. Depends how far away they are and how aggressive/call shy they are.
