I applied these 2 excersises and did them every training for almost 3 years when I went on coaching a team I couldn't do these drills. What I noticed during my own games is that my shooting ritme was way off. What I'm trying to say is that these are great excersises and ray allen is one hell of a shooter perhaps the best in the world. My fav player for sure.
i was born a laker fan and i admit i have so much respect for ray allen, one of the best shooters ever maybe the best it doesn't take much to notice a legend and ray allen is definitely a legend
hes so right about getting your shot going when you feel like your shots off. what he does is free throws to get his shot going, but for shorter guys playing on a ten foot rim, shooting basic post and mid post shots gets your shot going. i really didnt explain that very well but hopefully it'll help you out. it works for me. lol
Good job Ray. Your one of the best, if not, the best shooter in nba history.Glad you could walk away with a championship before your career ends. You deserved it bro.
Hell yeah! I was looking for some Ray Allen drives and dunks from the Sonics and Bucks days. My man could get up, he was a high flyer! He was in the dunk contest too when he was with the Bucks. He reminded me of Jordan back then. Everything...Jumper! Drive! Dunk! Ray Allen is M.J. protege to me.
The greatest 3 point shooter in NBA Finals History.......7 3-pointers in the 1st half against the Lakers......Ray will break the record for most 3's in a game in the Finals tonight during the second half....What a shooter, perfect form.
i remember this, 2 years ago i wanted to learn how to shoot better at school and i watched this vid, yea good times, good times, nice ray allen wen he used to play with sonics with the new nba game ball
Just a personal opinion, since you have a solid mid range shot, take a step or two back from the mid range and practice your shot. As you get comfortable with the shot gradually step back and shoot until you get to the 3 pt line. This may take a bit of time to getting used to but should definitely improve your range. Bend the knees to get a bit more power, and balance.
@dapman26 don't worry. Ray Allen keeps himself in incredible shape. He's got at least 2 more seasons in him. And by the time he retires, his record will be freakin ridiculous.
Make sure when you are gripping the ball with your shooting hand. Dont have your palm touch the ball. You only want your fingers controlling the ball. It should also be a fairly soft grip with your fingers. The guide hand is just keeping you from dropping the ball. Make sure you follow threw is soft, all the power in your jump shot comes from your lower body. I highly recommend checking out pete maravich shooting instruction videos on here that have been posted.
rhythm and your routine... you keep doin it and most important thing is you get your knees bend and follow through... keep doing it over & over about 1000 shots/day at least... to get a go0d result on your jumpers/jumpshots gotta have a repitition on your routine and then youLL get in good rhythm then your shots improve...
You're insane. Both are from hard work. Things like body size and musculature are gifts, but every skill in the game of basketball, or any sport for that matter, comes from hard work.
its not always about contact u leave that to ur post players ray allen is a shooting guard the whole point is to find space to get a higher percentage shot thats why he's so great
I love Ray Allen's jump shot. It's just looks so sweet. Has to be the best jump shot in the NBA. I'm going to try these things out, when I get a chance. He forgot to mention how you are suppose to have horse calves. XD. Did you see his? That's how he gets so much air on his jump shot.
that happens to every basketball player and the most important thing is that he got out of it. remember game 4 of the nba finals. he played the entire game. played pg and scored 26 points and that drive by lay up of vujacic
My coach uses a desk, for the best player on our basketball team. He jump forward alottt, but hes going to division 1 college ball for sure. Its nothing to do with strength, its just bad form. Its actually takes alot more strength to shoot with good form, then jumping forward. Even if your missing alot like that, just keep doing it. you'll be thankful once you get to higher levels, and taking off balance shots.
Steph will get more time and thus points and being a point guard he will get more shots than ray over his career but I'd still rather have Ray shoot the 3 with 5 secs to go for the win. 25 or 35. Ray is the best 3 point shooter of all time and I think the second best jump shooter ever.
@daberr2 not swollen. it's hypertrophy. Basically the gas or the fiber in the calves gain size for more strength and endurance. he'd been at dunk contest if you don't know.
Bending you knees and having a semi explosive jump is SO important when shooting. This is because you want most of your energy coming from your legs and not your arms. This will help you aim a lot easier
well if you mean that its to far work on building muscle if you mean that you cant aim it very well. i start in with mid range shots and work my way out to farther shots. just keep practicing and you will get better
@superchef78 idk wut he means wen he says let ur wrist naturally bend but like in this video hes forcing his wrist to bend. And also idk if you ever noticed but ray allen, dirk nowitzki, nd some other players have their hands parallel to the floor nd not in a hook shape.
A lot of fools don't know anything. In the finals last season Ron Artest kneed Ray in the thigh and gave him a deep bone bruise in game 3 which made him unable to jump properly...thus affecting his JUMP SHOT. He didn't go cold, he was hurt. You didn't hear about that at the time (and even now people are clueless?) because Ray isn't one to blame injuries.
Bend your legs and get IN more on your shot and always make sure you follow through. And Practice from shooting all over the three point line so you can get used to shooting from different areas
Oh then yeah u could do dumbbell curls and barbell curls, but the best thing is to juss keep shooting. Those workouts might make u too bulky, but if u pace if urself properly it will help. The main thing is juss having the stamina to consistently shoot fluidly.
He's definitely my favorite pure shooter...Smooth as shit too. Beautiful release.
Are you still alive?
no u have family) and kids
I applied these 2 excersises and did them every training for almost 3 years when I went on coaching a team I couldn't do these drills. What I noticed during my own games is that my shooting ritme was way off. What I'm trying to say is that these are great excersises and ray allen is one hell of a shooter perhaps the best in the world. My fav player for sure.
Thank you Ray Allen for a free lesson from one of the greatest shooters of all time. Time to hit the gym now.
1:14 damn those are some beastly calves. The way they bulge out like that. DAMN!!!!
Hahahah
Well it's true. Ray got some CALVES on him lol
no homo tho
That's the result of not skipping legs days
@@mcducusin no those calves will make any straight man homo
Ray Allen is one of the best shooters and one of my fav playas
he is so awesome, besides the fact that he is an unbelievable shooter and player.
hes such a great, humble guy also
Trust me these drills work!
NateTheMovieGuy right. when I did them I shot better
@asian dude how
That was awesome. He is a true professional and has trained himself to be one of the best shooters in history.
15 year old video, still gold 😌
man love Ray Allen's shooting ability, one of the best shooters ever to play in the NBA, plus i like his Jordans.
Gr8, his terrific skills are all built on the muscle memories. Way to go, Ray
i was born a laker fan and i admit i have so much respect for ray allen, one of the best shooters ever maybe the best
it doesn't take much to notice a legend and ray allen is definitely a legend
Hope that this will get them through the injuries their team is havin right now -keep it up Ray!
not only does he have the best form, he also has the quickest release
and in his younger days he could've crossed you over and dunked on you too
He's so dedicated and humble. Easily my favorite player go celtics.
hes so right about getting your shot going when you feel like your shots off. what he does is free throws to get his shot going, but for shorter guys playing on a ten foot rim, shooting basic post and mid post shots gets your shot going.
i really didnt explain that very well but hopefully it'll help you out. it works for me. lol
One of the best strokes and quickest releases the game has ever seen.
@BostonCityofChamps1 Yeah, Ray is one of the most classy and humble guys in basketball. Like you said, respect his greatness.
Ray Allen is such a true baller ! he knows exactly wht he's doin , he is the best !
One of the best shooters in the league... Probably the most accurate quick release as well.
Awesome advice from one of the best shooters over the last few years.
Him and Larry Legend have such amazing jumpers.
I love shooting man, thanks ray you are the best pure shooter
It's gonna be a sad day when he retires. One of the best shooters in the NBA.
...that last move was sick & smooth asf..
Ray Allen into the record books...NBA finals legend.
shooting is a gift.. handles is hardwork
The greatest 3 point shooter in NBA Finals History.......7 3-pointers in the 1st half against the Lakers......Ray will break the record for most 3's in a game in the Finals tonight during the second half....What a shooter, perfect form.
2:03 was sick dont know how he pulled the ball toward his man off hte spin and was able to bring it back perfect nice RAY ALLEN
i love his jumper ,one of the best pure shooters ever ... in my opinion
i'm a lakers fan..
and oh boy. it hurt so bad to see him shoot.
"DAMN IT, THAT'S ANOTHER 3 POINTS..."
i love ray allen hes the perfect guy to be giving fundamentals about shooting.
This is kinda amazing. I took his advice, and my shooting improved dramatically.
One of the greats for sure
Tell me about it. I thought I was the only one that noticed it at 2:04. Did as if he was going in, then backed out for the 3pointer. Beautiful
i remember this, 2 years ago i wanted to learn how to shoot better at school and i watched this vid, yea good times, good times, nice ray allen wen he used to play with sonics with the new nba game ball
thanks man those tips helped alot
Bro what has been about you throughout these 13 Years lol
this video dramatically improved my shooting. Thanks Ray Allen =D
@sharkgorilla45 FYI - they moved from Seattle to Oklahoma city in 2008 and are now called the Thunder...
Just a personal opinion, since you have a solid mid range shot, take a step or two back from the mid range and practice your shot. Definitely my favorite player I the league. Great player and great person.
That shot at the end was SICK!!!
@dapman26 don't worry. Ray Allen keeps himself in incredible shape. He's got at least 2 more seasons in him. And by the time he retires, his record will be freakin ridiculous.
even if he misses a shot still watching that release is the most beautiful shot in the history of man
yea ray ray has the best looking shot in the nba, so smooth and technically perfect
He's my favorite active NBA player next to Steve Nash, guys who work hard at what they do without much fuss, which is the way it should be.
amazing player
definitely the best shooter today in the league.... he murdered the lakers with his 3 ball last night... mentor...

Ray-Ray!! Making UConn proud. And I do agree, he is the best shooter in the game today.
my favorite player. i wanna watch more fundamental vids from him.
ray allen and reggie miller, my all-time favourite shooters
ray is so awesome, its painful to watch such a respectable figure go through such a slump, he will find his shot soon though
his shots are like butter, and the nba doesnt give ANY credit to him, he's simply the best shooter in the nba.
Truly a thing of beauty.
He's keeping the Celtics together so far, plus he's shooting better in his 15th season than any other season of his career.
i get so anxious when he shoots his free throws, cuz he makes them all the time and you don want him to miss so he scares me to think if he misses
i could watch him shoot all day
You're insane. Both are from hard work. Things like body size and musculature are gifts, but every skill in the game of basketball, or any sport for that matter, comes from hard work.
Ray allen is easily one of thr best shooters ever... Hes my fav player
i was workin on this drill 2day.. it does work but it does help 2 have someone pass the ball back 2 u
The sound of the last shot is great
HE'S MY FAVORITE PLAYER
its not always about contact u leave that to ur post players ray allen is a shooting guard the whole point is to find space to get a higher percentage shot thats why he's so great

Basketball Legend
@denzel06 ye well its obviously gunna be hard to find but there is the away pair
the shot at the end is so perfect
I wished I could've seen Kyle Korver do this fundamental drill because he also has one of the fastest releases in the league.
Steph will get more time and thus points and being a point guard he will get more shots than ray over his career but I'd still rather have Ray shoot the 3 with 5 secs to go for the win. 25 or 35. Ray is the best 3 point shooter of all time and I think the second best jump shooter ever.
bend knees get good lift.
follow through and hold.
shoot it the same way every time.
Ray Allen is the best Greetings from SERBIA!
Truth be told this guy is one of the best in the league at least top 15. He's not just a shooter by the way he's a complete player.
I could not even imagine how awesome and easier practice would be with one of those rebounding/passing guys underneath.
ray is amazing
Awesome video, thanks so much for posting this!! Go RAY ALLEN and GO CELTICS!!
I know this is pretty unrelated but his head shines!
well if you mean that its to far work on building muscle if you mean that you cant aim it very well. i start in with mid range shots and work my way out to farther shots. just keep practicing and you will get better
easily one of my top 3 shooters ever.
@superchef78 idk wut he means wen he says let ur wrist naturally bend but like in this video hes forcing his wrist to bend. And also idk if you ever noticed but ray allen, dirk nowitzki, nd some other players have their hands parallel to the floor nd not in a hook shape.
And he makes it look so easy !
that is why u work on defense and rebounding so if u have a bad day shooting u can contribute in other ways.
this will be so useful in my game... i ll start to practise like that everyday!
his p.e. 21s are sick
A lot of fools don't know anything. In the finals last season Ron Artest kneed Ray in the thigh and gave him a deep bone bruise in game 3 which made him unable to jump properly...thus affecting his JUMP SHOT. He didn't go cold, he was hurt. You didn't hear about that at the time (and even now people are clueless?) because Ray isn't one to blame injuries.
one of my favorite players in da game
Bend your legs and get IN more on your shot and always make sure you follow through. And Practice from shooting all over the three point line so you can get used to shooting from different areas
congratulations Ray on the record breaking
Oh then yeah u could do dumbbell curls and barbell curls, but the best thing is to juss keep shooting. Those workouts might make u too bulky, but if u pace if urself properly it will help. The main thing is juss having the stamina to consistently shoot fluidly.
Ray Allen pure shooter
Fastest release sharp shooter.
One of the best shooters of all time.
And now he has a championship ring.
Second ring is coming allen. =]
one of the best shooters ever to play
in the nba
