Geodude was the first pokemon I caught. I still have that exact pokemon (It's a Golem now) in my alpha sapphire. That's how long it's stayed with me. It's a very special pokemon to me due to nostalgia.
I Irefer gen 2 and 3 to gen 1. I have mixed feelings on gen 4 and gen 6. Gen 5 not so much but be ticked me off for not knowing seel and dewgong where the sea lion species. I love dewgong.

I actually love Muk's design, it's also a great defensive wall and tactician; have it learn toxic and minimize, make it learn a really powerful attack and give it leftovers. Then toxic your opponent, minimize for about 3-4 turns, and finally finish the opponent of with the power attack. Leftovers are useful because Muk's ability "black sludge" replenishes some Hp each turn, and leftovers makes it replenish twice as much HP every turn. :)

Gen 1 didn’t even have shines. OP probably played... X? I know one game had wild Eevee’s, and the friend safari thing could have also yielded one. The only shiny I ever found was a Spearow in Fire Red while I was walking to the Elite 4. It was just one of those “Really?” moments.
Jynx definitely fits in Gen 1. It's supposed to be grouped with Electabuzz, Mr. Mime, and Magmar as the humanoid late-game non-evolving sweeper Pokemon. It's an Ice type because it's based on this Japanese mythical creature. Jynx is weird an a little too human, but it makes sense to me. I do agree that Mr. Mime is a bit too human to make much sense, even though he is awesome in the anime and the games.
Pokemon logic : Mr.mime can be a female Gardevoir can be a male Gardevoir can be breeded with stunfisk (WTF?) Skitty can be breeded with Wailord (That poor cat) Munchlax can learn both self-destruct and explosion while Snorlax can only learn self-destruct (can someone please explain me why?) Interesting and funny, yet very insightful. So many people overlook some of the errors in gen 1 because "those were the days". However, nothing is perfect, and this video clearly shows that.
Yeah too many like to cling to the past but what you also gotta understand is that there would be no future if it wasn't for that past. Well, Magikarp is at least well designed, even if useless in battle. Compare it to seel for example, it seems more more imaginative than just adding a horn to a seal.
I'd also defend Magneton's design because it is kinda like a hive mind, which is a very common concept in robotics, and AI. Science Fiction also often depicts that when mutliple minds work together as a whole, they are creating something completely new, kinda like how all your cells working together make up you.

They were testing the waters. The japanese name of the traded jynx is Masako, which was the name of the princess of Japan at the time.
I literally have no idea what I'm looking at with some of the newer designs. I'm glad this generation had simplicity, I think it was clever not lazy, Seel and Muk included
I am glad you don't just use battle stats like other people, finally someone with different reasons to hate or like pokémon :) Also if you hate being attacked by certain moves, just don't go into battle underleveled, you will outspeed them with most pokémon :) And dodrio has no wings.
I love all these pokemon because they are original, some would say it's the nostalgia but growing up I love all the gen 1-3 pokemon when they were coming out but then it got to gen 4+ and just went downhill probably because after gen 3 the creator of Pokémon died
But one guy didn't create all the Pokemon each time, it was a team effort (or at least that's what I like to think, don't crush my dreams). And anyway you can't know that without playing every gen beyond gen 4.

I don't have a problem overall with Electrode, but another frustrating game experience involving them is when you're in Cerulean Cave and you meet a very high-level one that uses Self-Destruct immediately. It's too fast to do anything about usually, unless your own Pokemon is high-leveled enough to actually be faster. And they're so high-leveled that the explosion is devastating and can be an unavoidable 1-hit KO.
Another big reason geodude sucked in the gen1 games was that you needed to trade graveller to get golem. And if you didn't have many friends who played or a link cable, you were completely stuck with graveller

All these people complaining about gen 1 designs being too simple- y'all realize it was the first set of games right? Nothing is going to be over the top or out there because it's the maiden voyage. They were testing the waters. Most of the designs are based on things in the real world (items, creatures, mythological beings) because the creator was inspired to make the game based on his obsession with catching bugs and creatures. Yes, Ekans is a snake, that's the point. It's totally fine to not like it, but it was done on purpose, it wasn't some "lazy design choice." They wanted it to feel like you were just a kid, going and catching animals to raise and battle and trade with.

I love all these pokemon because they are original, some would say it's the nostalgia but growing up I love all the gen 1-3 pokemon when they were coming out but then it got to gen 4+ and just went downhill probably because after gen 3 the creator of Pokémon died

I don't have a problem overall with Electrode, but another frustrating game experience involving them is when you're in Cerulean Cave and you meet a very high-level one that uses Self-Destruct immediately. It's too fast to do anything about usually, unless your own Pokemon is high-leveled enough to actually be faster. And they're so high-leveled that the explosion is devastating and can be an unavoidable 1-hit KO.
UnkleThud not to mention in gen 1 speed equals your critical hit ratio, meaning electrode has the highest critical hit chance in gen 1.
