If you pay attention to the dialogue, this is the cartoon in which we finally learn which is Heckle and which is Jeckle!

Jeckle "Oh, well, it was a good try, wasn't it?" The last EVER lines said by Roy Halee. Sadly, this was the VERY last time Roy Halee ever voice-acted or did anything in his career, as after this, this was it, he was never heard from again or did anything else after this ever again, I think it's kinda a shame he never voiced Mighty Mouse for commercials or anything after. (His Jeckle voice is LITERALLY his Mighty Mouse voice, he would of been WAY better talking as him for those commercials and stuff than Tom Morrison, who I thought just never sounded or fitted right as Mighty.) My guess is that he just wanted to be VERY private from the public and retired for good.

To me the message I would take with Sappy New Year that even if you change your ways and trying to do right now but your actions from before will make people cautious over everything you did and done despite trying to make the effort

I haven’t seen this one in probably 45 years until now. It was a lot different from the other Heckle and Jeckle cartoons because it was also newer and just fell flat like the later Popeye ones. The emotionless woman poodle trying to start her car with them trying to help her struck me as odd. And the mean old dog you always saw in the earlier ones in this had ears that were down and a more serious and mannered character.

Any idea why I was not popular?

@@BarefootViking it wasn’t like the other ones. Same with that much earlier Talking Magpies one with a husband and wife.
Also, that dog that always says duuuh, is not in this one.

@@jondstewart thank you for your reply. I always liked these two and wondered why they were not more popular

@@BarefootViking you’re very welcome! When I was a kid growing up in Austin, Texas in the 1970’s, a show called Cartoon Corner came on Monday thru Friday from 3-4 on the NBC station. Warner Bros. cartoons that had those Porky Pig Looney Tunes from the late 1930’s, the post-1948 Warner brothers cartoons, this, and Mighty Mouse came on. I never much liked Mighty Mouse. Pearl Purehart was annoying.
As for Heckle and Jeckle, some of cartoons are left out. The one with them opening up a gas station and their bulldog opponent on the other end.

So, to Heckle and Jeckle, a standard "prank" is throwing sticks of dynamite! I wonder why Spencer's Gifts never sold dynamite?

They did sell dynamite, it was disguised as personal massagers.
