Sándor In my book, that is Punisher's definitive storyline. It takes place in a world without superheroes (or maybe he somehow don't see them, I dunno) so Frank can really shine. His origin as a warrior stays rooted in Vietnam, probably the most brutal American war in recent times, and we also get all the badass villains like Billy Russo, Finn Cooley, and the beast known as Barracuda. It's probably the richest source of Punisher lore, and the showrunner stated plans to bring Kathryn O'Brien and Barracuda into the series.

    • @andrewwilson803

    • @marcusaguilar874

No, that was really boring, Russo had no motive to turn against Frank. And eventually felt sorry for Frank. Billy in the Comics was way better, more dark and ruthless. They didn’t make it work with them being friends.

Prince Ibrahim Some of the action was good, but I prefer hand to hand combat like in Daredevil. Many episodes felt like filler and slow paced. 2-8 especially. Disregarding those episodes, it was pretty good. I feel like it could’ve been 10 episodes to make it faster paced. I’ve noticed that with Punisher, some find it extremely good, while like me find it kinda boring. I may have to watch it again to refresh my memory.

I don't expect civilians to know this, but in the comics Frank was an 0311 rifleman in the Marines. Here, not only is he an Officer instead of an enlisted Marine, he's a Force Recon Marine, as opposed to a regular rifleman in the infantry.

he betrayed frank and collaborated with the government even though the government was playing micro. micro helps frank through a tough fight with the mafia and the government like old times, but its hinted that micro knew he was going to die by frank...he just wanted a last hurrah. Not gonna lie I didn't continue with the series after that hardest thing to read

You forgot one: The Punisher doesn't care about hostages. In The Punisher vol 1 #1 a mafia don had a gun to a warden's head threatening to kill him. Frank's literal words were "He dies, you die. There's symmetry in that."

    • @LarryBonson
      @LarryBonson 6 лет назад +8

Frank Castle strongly reminding the guy that the hostage is what is keeping you alive, and it would be very stupid for you to kill him, because if he were to die god help you, because you know what my reputation is, so it would wise and in your best interest to keep him alive for your sake, indirectly saying to guy, only some who does not see the full scope would think otherwise,Punisher plays chess not Checkers,😒😒😒

Another key difference is that he’s a loner in the comics, and he believed no other woman could surpass Maria. In season 2, he tries to move on with a single mother. Sure, in the comics he would have a one night stand once in a while. That doesn’t mean that should have been included at the start of season 2!

They hated that old man so much they shot him through my family. The world went crazy on a summer's day in Central Park, In the time before Uzi's and Beretta's , before nine millimetre popguns ruled the streets. It was a Thompson, like the ones our fathers carried, and I recognized its rattle even as its big, man-stopping forty-fives punched blood and breath from my lungs. I hit the ground besides my daughter. She's been gut-shot, badly, and when she saw the things that boiled and wriggled from her belly the expression on her face was not a little girl's. My wife bled out later on the operating table, her heart a gaping hole her life drained through. Whenever I get careless, that yearning in her eyes creeps up and brings me to my knees. Right then the old man's soldiers started shooting back. My son dropped wordlessly, without a mark on him. I took a breath that cut like glass, spat blood, rose to my knees, picked up the boy and searched in vain for entry wounds. The bullet had entered through his open mouth. That was our picnic in the park. And now every night I go out and make the world sane.

There's only one real difference that matters; after DD season 2, this isn't the Punisher. Punisher isn't about government/CIA conspiracy bullshit, he isn't about letting paedophiles live (as he clearly did in season 2), and he isn't about just slobbing around ignoring crime.
They built the character up perfectly in DD season 2. We had the perfect Punisher at the end there, when he started listening to the police scanner and had all the weapons and skull vest. What did they do with this perfect Punisher? They took a couple of minutes at the start of the first episode to show him killing a few gang members from the gangs he was after in DD, and then we saw him literally burn the character away that we had seen him morph into for the whole of DD season 2.
Then what happens? We get two seasons of "Punisher", that clearly isn't Punisher, and finally get him turn into the REAL Punisher right at the end of S2, only to now be waiting for the inevitable cancellation as netflix go with women-only marvel series to push their SJW feminazi agenda.

I waited for this series like paddyfields wait for rain. The Punisher i imagined was:
    1. Physically intimidating.
    2. Man of few words. (Silence would be more intimidating than growling.)
    3. A man who will rain down punishment on the criminal underworld.
    4. A man of brilliant strategies and techniques.
What this series gave me was:
    1. An puny to average looking Punisher.
    2. A man who talked a lot. A. Lot. And moves/shakes too much while talking.
    3. A veteran who took on veterans, some or most of whom likely didn't know what their employer was really up to. In this series, they could've taken out Frank Castle and put in any other war veteran and we'd get the same season.
    4. A man who walks into firefights where he gets beaten lots of time. And needs lots of saving. Would've died a couple of times in season 1 already if not for his friends.
It's sad when the Punisher appears in the first episode, does his punishing in the first few minutes then leaves us with a man named Frank Castle for the rest of the season.
Just my opinion. And we're just into season 1. So maybe we'll get to see the Punisher in season 2?
