Great job getting this fixed! Glad you tested the VR and HOT, it's easy and takes seconds.
The VR almost had me bamboozled there for a minute!
I absolutely love that you put all this work into restoring what you view as a terrible monitor and game. Even the unloved equipment deserves love and saving.
I love that you appreciate my madness! Some people love Kangaroo, but I've personally got zero nostalgia for it. I don't think ANYONE likes the Matsushita though!
Nice you managed to fix that monstrosity, great job. Do you have a degausser to get rid of the green in the bottom corner? Wouldn't mind a video on how to fix those issues.
Thanks! I don’t ever want to touch a Matsushita again! I do have one of those big circular degaussing wands, and I’ve used it in a few of my videos. It fixes the color here but it always comes back after a moment. I think the frame or something has become magnetized.
Interesting. This cab would only be interesting to me if it could be modded at that price. IMO
Modded? Into what? And at what price? Color me confused!
Glad you were able to resolve the Kangaroo's Matsushita monitor issue with Sean's help!
I was afraid this monitor would be sitting on my shelf untouched for YEARS!
I've got one of these out of an old Kangaroo... been wrestling with it on and off, I hate it so much, lol.
I FEEL YOUR PAIN
Sean pulls through! Glad it got fixed!
He really did save the day on this one!
Just a random question. What is the weirdest thing you've found inside of an arcade machine?
I've heard some WILD stories from others, but I've personally never found anything too crazy inside a machine. The best was when I bought a machine being sold as an "empty cabinet," but when I opened it up, I discovered it was a complete game: monitor, PCB, everything. That actually happened to me twice!
Awesome!! and Teddy approves!
Thanks!!! I couldn’t have done it without you, Sean!!!
So bad selling fake and/or garbage flybacks on e-bay
I don't think it was necessarily fake. The seller seemed to be a reputable electronics supply company. The unit I got did turn out to be a bit of a dud though. I knew it was a gamble to buy a repro flyback on eBay, but I'm glad Sean was able to hook me up with a legit working OEM one!
Woohoo! Congrats on the fix!
Thanks! The cabinet is cursed though. I think the monitor FRAME has become magnetized. A degauss issue always develops in the lower left corner. Degauss coil doesn't help. Manual degauss doesn't help. Moving the cabinet doesn't help. Running the monitor outside of the cabinet doesn't help. It. Just. Keeps. Coming. Back.
Nice job. Same problem with my hantarex chassis, same fix, new flyback. Dangerous how that fault doesn't take out anything else on the chassis. It just uninterruptedly sets fire to the flyback. Only turning off the power stops it. I'm guessing this exact fault is a major cause in arcade fires.
Thanks! I've always got a fire extinguisher handy!
I'm referring really to unattended cabinets been left switched on. But having an extinguisher to hand is a good idea.@@overtimearcade
I accidentally left my PlayChoice-10 on for a couple of days and one of the monitor flyback died! 😭
All these flybacks must be well over 30 years old now. It's a great testament of how reliable crt tech is really for the most part.
But I would say, never leave a C.R.T on unattended. This fire fault left to smolder away could end in disaster. Wooden boxes and fire are not a good match 😆(Pardon the pun)
Roll on to the present day, we're left with these modern HD displays, you're lucky if you get 10 years out of them 😄 @@overtimearcade
@@anthonydenn4345 They sure don't make 'em like they used to!
Awesome.
Never give up! Never surrender!
