    I know you may not care for someone's opinion but I'd highly recommend doing one Remington at 53°-55°F & 62-65%RH. According to Edward Sahakian from Davidoff of London, this environment really helps mature the tobacco for very long term storage.

      Hi Chris, Paul here. I decided to use the Boveda packs here for a number of reasons
      1 - The inbuild humidity source is very localized so don't want to risk over humidification close to that area
      2 - Boveda is a simple way to know exactly what you are getting and easily distribute throughout the unit (the seal is very good on the units so the packs will last a long time, the ones I've had in the smaller unit are still very fresh after 9+ months)
      3 - As I've really jammed the boxes in there, I was concerned about airflow so again thought Boveda would be best for me
      Thanks for the question.
      Cheers - Paul

    Hey guys, I received my Remington Lite Humidor and seem to be having issues with the RH using the built in humidity system the unit offers. I'm using a PG Solution and keep it set in the low 60's and I've found mold on multiple cigars already. A lot of people on the forums are talking about the heartfelt beads and using those in the water reservoir. I see you're using the Boveda packs though. Could you explain your process with that? You saw 2 320g packs per shelf? Do you adjust the humidity level on the display so the fans are not constantly running? What levels are you keeping your temps and RH at on the display? Sorry, I'm a bit new to learning how to properly maintain RH.

    Hi Paul, I have the Remington humidor and using water on the built in reservoir and was struggling with having an even RH on all shelves, I had a 15% difference from top ro bottom, being the bottom the most humid part of the humidor. I watched your video and decided to follow your method of going with 320g boveda 69% instead of the water on the reservoir. It really helped but I still have a RH difference about 7%-10% top to bottom and also noticed that the temp is also higher on top. Do you have the same experience? I think an extra fan that moves the air around should help but don’t want to alter the humidor in any way it could damage the electric system. Any advice?

    • @Bespokeunit
      @Bespokeunit 2 года назад

      Hey there,
      Sorry for the delay in response as I was consulting with Paul regarding your issues. How long did you leave the cabinet with just the packs on the shelves and nothing else? after changing from using the reservoir to just Boveda packs, it would take weeks if not a month for the entire humidor, all the drawers to equalize to the same RH. I believe this is why you're experiencing the discrepancy even after switching from the integrated water reservoir to just Boveda packs.
      The temperature is a different concern - do you perhaps have a lot of cigars/boxes in the humidor that may prevent the air from circulating? I'd try starting with fewer cigars and then adding more while measuring the temperature to see if there is a threshold cigar count at which point the temperature is no longer constant throughout.

    • @Bespokeunit
      @Bespokeunit 3 года назад +1

      Hey there Carlos,
      As Paul is currently using Boveda packs to maintain the desired humidity throughout, it's difficult to speak to major fluctuations with the integrated humidity system. Surely it's effective, though certain factors (such as the number of cigars on each shelf) will likely play a part. The Boveda packs are a simple way of ensuring the humidity levels are stable on all shelves and could also be used to test whether the different areas of the humidor are experiencing large fluctuations.

    • @Bespokeunit

      Hey there,
      Paul uses Boveda packs throughout the unit so there were no issues with differing humidity throughout. However, it's definitely possible that, if you're using the built-in humidification system, the lower levels have higher humidity as that is where the water reservoir is. This is more of a personal preference. With the packs, you can be sure that the Rh in each shelf/tray inside the cabinet is exactly where you want it. With the humidifier, it's possible that the Rh will vary from one shelf to another. This variance doesn't necessarily mean that your cigars won't be properly stored, but it's more about the owner's preference and desired control over the exact Rh level.

    You know that Seasoning is BS right? My cigars would be at a perfect 65% in those units within a few hours...2 weeks is pretty funny. Seasoning is mostly if you have a large empty wooden humidor. Those things have relatively low amounts of wood and if you fill them immediately you dont have to do anything. Even if you wanted to season it you can legit put in water into containers and it does the same thing assuming you monitor it with a hygrometer. Boveda is a great product but they are also kinda scammy since a large part of their business model relies on deception. They wont tell their customers that their packs are fully reusable for years and years and they also sell things like seasoning packs that are absolutely pointless. If you disagree with me then try to justify the 'humidor bags' they sell. There is absolutely no difference between that and any sealable plastic bag. Its actually just so dumb its unbelievable. I mean if there is a market for it then good for them they must be aware that there is so much bad information on cigar storage for the majority of cigar smokers. I have about 1000 cigars that ive been storing for close to a decade and I have purchased maybe 50 boveda packs in my life. I could have gotten away with less but I get lazy and like to rotate and have extras. I dont think most casual cigar smokers ever need to purchase more than 5-10 boveda packs every 10-15 years or so. Also, considering most stores now will give you some small packs with your purchases most people can probably get away with never buying any humidification devices ever.
