Colin, tell us if you managed to get off those anti-depressants. My mum has been on max dose for 35 years, a year ago she weaned off them completely for 2 months, and it was amazing to actually have a mother who actually cared, but she couldn't handle the tough times and my dad wasn't prepared to support her through the change (which I'm furious about). So she is back onto full dose and back to her shell of a human, she's so smart, but just seems numb to it all, she definitely believes it's too late for her, and it makes me sad for my children.

we are all sinners, and we have broken Gods law. Therefore we all deserve hell. But God was merciful and sent Jesus Christ, God in the flesh, His Son, to die for the sins of the world. He lived a sinless life, then he died on the cross, taking the wrath of God we deserved onto himself. He rose again 3 days later to defeat death for all of those who would put their trust in him. If you repent of your sin and place your faith in Christ, He will save you from hell. This is the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The only way to enter heaven.

He also says that everyone's pain and brokenness needs to be addressed and prayed for, and that family, friends, and the church need to come together for each one who hurts. He gets the importance of fellowship. He has many people helping him (including his Lovely wife), as he helps many people. It's a beautiful thing.

      @@megalopolis2015 I agree. Thank you.
I definitely posted this getting more disgruntled as I listened, and here's why: I'm a survivor of people who have succeeded at their attempts and I once made one of my own and am so grateful I get to stay.
The beginning of my previous comment talks about Kevin Hines, a guy who speaks out now against suicide and pro prevention.
He has been influential in a lot of folks changing their attitude toward life for the better.
The 1st interview I saw with him, he was still in a wheelchair, told he may never walk again from his attempt, but he was beaming - glowing with this high smile and couldn't stop saying "I'm so grateful. I'm so grateful..." He was so grateful he lived.
Now, a few decades after my own attempt I am a parent. And I'm sorry; when people depend on you, you don't get the luxury of apathy.
And when you make a decision to try and attempt in a way that could or would harm others, by overdosing behind the wheel and them go drive around - I get angry - because now you aren't just putting yourself at risk, which is bad enough, you're putting yourself and other people's kids at risk.
I volunteer on suicide prevention lines. This guy sounded so so so so so different than anyone in this situation I've ever heard so far after years of volunteering.
I shouldn't have posted my comment for many reasons. Mainly myom always says, "if you can't say something nice don't say anything at all." And she's right.
This guy set me off. I should have stayed quiet.
Mostly I know that when you are ideating about it you might consider that an orange or red flag that you might not be thinking clearly.
I know he probably is in that space of not thinking clearly which is why I began by introducing him to a powerful force in prevention: survivors.
I got nervous when his tone and affect seemed so flat. This is a sensitive and shameful topic for a lot of survivors. The don't usually talk about it so nonchalantly.
You are absolutely right. I should have compassion and pray for him, and I appreciate the correction.
      The guy scared me.
Especially as a dad of a defenseless baby. Because if he makes choices for himself that include risking others, that momma and baby could be in harms way.
I'm a mom now. Not cool. Gotta get some support for those two also, just in case.
The guy scared me, and I've helped support some folks and helped them put their kits away.
      Survivors help each other.
I pray he gets into helping prevention efforts, meets others, feels less alone, and feels a renewed commitment to life as well as enthusiasm for it after meeting children of folks who have gone and seeing how it affects their lives. Or becoming a warrior for prevention.
I pray he stays and find renewed motivation... And I pray he connects the dots that his attempt cold have endangered the lives of others. He seemed to just roll right over that like it was nothing, like he didn't even notice that fact.
That was chilling to somebody who has children and drives.
It's a chilling topic anyway. I'd do anything to get those I know who went this way back.
I pray they get to Heaven because they may have made that judgement call on themselves in a state of mental distress.
I hope this guy gets the support he needs to feel strengthened and renewed and to care as much about others even in his pain.
I pray I can forgive him for the choice he made. I do - especially because no one was permanently harmed by it, including him. Thank God.

@@brightpage1020 I greatly appreciate the thought and effort that went into this reply. Thank you. I also want to thank you for the self-sacrificial work you have done for other people in crisis, who are desperate to have someone who cares enough to talk them down. My fiance' has been one of those people in need, more than once. He has more obstacles than many, mentally, emotionally and physically. I am one of the only people who he can talk to besides people like you who can deal with the situation, or even cares to try. His sobriety and faith have helped enormously, as well as developing healthy boundaries with others, cutting off contact when necessary. It can a difficult thing to fight for yourself when few people in your life told you that you were worth fighting for. Hopefully in time he will believe it more. As for the caller, I share your concern with his driving that day. He should not have endangered other people. I think that the way he seems to speak casually about the incident is because his deep embarrassment over losing control so much, as well as fear for what could have happened. Either way, he can use our prayers.

There is a guy. You gotta see this - wait I’ll link him - lookup Kevin Hines: Jumper. The Bridge. He lived. Week coma, broke all but 7 bones… come out wheelchaired up, glowing… beaming… “I’m so grateful [I survived]!” He says. From his wheelchair… to the news reporter because no one has ever survived that fall - wait - you got a baby girl?!?!! And. Wife!?!?!!?’
DUDE! Man up! You no longer have the luxury of cutting out early. You got people depending on you, needing you - like for their own survival! Ladies, no less.
Nah. Nah. Nah. You don’t get to be that spoiled.
    You get to be sacrificial.
    You a Christian, right?
Obviously not if you tried this - behind the wheel of a car, no less!!! Oh my golly gosh darn!!! Have some sense, Kid!
Heaven forbid you’d have had an accident that took out somebody else or somebody else’s kid or mom or grandma… while you were unconscious behind the wheel. Holy smoke. We’re you tokin’? Are you a sociopath?
Who do you think you are, Buddy?!? What gives you the right to take risks like that on other people’s lives? Oh, heck no… I’m sorry. I can’t. I just can’t.
I can not abide all that.
    What.
    A.
    Jerk.
You got problems, well guess what, my grandparents had problems and my parents and our generation… and yours got jacked and taxed for a lot of our band aid solutions. Not fair to you at all. I get that.
But you do what grandpa did and you strap up your boots and get out there solving it in whatever way you can necessary… because you are an adult, now. And you have responsibility for yourself and your life. Your decisions, your choices. No one else.
    People have lived with less.
    Come on.
    Grow up.
    Grow a heart.
