Radu Zaplitnii ci proveremo con un taglio per problemi organizzativi a realizzare questa scena al conservatorio a Reggio Calabria, Io son il tenore 1 del coro, è troppo bella l'opera in genere.
For a 26-27 yo, this is pretty spectacular considering this was only her second crack at this role. This is live theater and people are always on their A-game. She shows a maturity beyond her years and a level of restraint. I can’t wait to see what she will does with this role as she grows. I have a sneaking suspicion that she is going to grow into a medium-full sized lyric but that just my opinion. Brava to Miss Sierra! The future of opera looks bright!
what a fabulous vocally musical and expressive performance. I have Sung this role and this area many a time. It is the hardest of ALL the literature. To pull this off at such a young age is marvelous. You have such a wonderful career ahead of you Nadine. Keep up the great work.
Awesome artist. I give her a lot of credit for staying on pitch at the end when her only tonal reference is the glass harmonica, which lags constantly behind her runs. Excellent full and round E flat at the end. Kudos.
Pour moi l’air d’opéra le plus beau jamais composé, avec une interprétation magistrale et le son de l’harmonica de verre qui rajoute à la beauté ! Sublime !
Once again, Nadine shows us what a great singer she is! Her voice is as rich and powerful as ever, and her coloratura work is dazzling. I was glad to see Ms. Sierra sing barefoot again(she has such lovely feet!), and she was a vision of beauty in her white bridal gown(which showed no trace of fake blood, thank Heavens). 15:44
I like her Lucia, it’s not my favorite (my favorite Lucia would be Joan Sutherland) but I do feel that she has potential. I’m not a singer (I’m a flutist) but I do feel like that in a few years, her voice will grow like Anna Netrebko’s did.
So many comments on her being boring. I think the staging is to blame. She’s actually doing wonderfully with what she’s been given here. Everything, the lighting, the costumes, the set, the ensemble, and the over direction is incredibly bland, at least out of context. Also, this is a gorgeous, dark, and full voice, rarely heard with most Lucias.
Not crazy about the bizarre staging (although when she first enters, ringing the glass in her hand is cool). LOVE Marine's performance though! VERY solid and round tones, which Lucia needs. I like that she's neither overly dark voiced, and yet not a "tweetie bird" either. Nice full, rich, warm tones, with brilliant coloratura and strong high range. Brava!
Praised for her vocal beauty, seamless technique, and abundant musicality, Nadine Sierra is being hailed as one of the most promising, young talents in opera today. She was named the Richard Tucker Award Winner in 2017 and was awarded the 2018 Beverly Sills Artist Award by the Metropolitan Opera. Having made a string of successful debuts at the Met, Teatro alla Scala, Opéra national de Paris, and Staatsoper Berlin, she has become a fixture at many of the top houses around the world. On August 24th, 2018, her debut album, There’s a Place for Us, was released under the Deutsche Grammophon/Universal Music labels.
How do they manage to get the stage sound so equal? She is facing upstage but still the sound is as clear as when she is facing stage front. Do they have microphones suspended from the stage roof? Wonderful technique both vocally and sound management wise.
These days they often place microphones on the singers to help with that. In their wig or down their cleavage. Personally, I don't care for this, moving them so close doesn't allow the recording to show how the voice "blooms" in the theatre. Personally, I'd rather have a more "live" sound, even if it means less consistent sound balance.
@@nathandavis3002 Those must be small microphones to have them so inconspicuously placed live on set. I don’t think she was wearing a wig. They are expert stage management companies. It would be interesting to see how their management position their microphones. From a novice perspective such as mine is it simply seems impossible for a voice to be picked up so clearly from such a position. Amazingly sincere productions. Truly heartfelt. Wonderful. It must be exhausting for them all.
Sorry, but I am not at all keen on this, I find the voice hard, correct but hard, and why are the guests sitting in rows looking as if they are at a conference and waiting for the annual photograph, and poor Lucia on the table amongst the wine glasses.
A wonderful production. Minus the flute cadenza and too many interpolated high notes, Lucia begins to reveal its' dark beauty. This was a seminal opera in 19th century literature(Madame Bovary). We are finally beginning to give this masterpiece the respect it truly deserves. The mad scene was truly moving and one begins to understand why, at the premiere, sobs were heard in the audience.
I was always curious about this flute cadenza. The version sung by Sutherland seemed to be unique. Callas, Sierra and others all used/use the 'standard' version if I can call it that. The Sutherland version seems more virtuosic. Which version is the 'original' and how did the version sung by Sutherland come about?
There is no "original" version. Donizetti left that up to each soprano and did not compose a cadenza. The "Traditional" you elude to is the Marchesi (sp?) penning (*also further promoted in the Leibling cadenzas/book). It's always at its best when each soprano imprints her take upon it ... I do lean to appreciating the traditional

She has obviously a very beautiful voice in general with a rich resonant sound. I believe she is a soubrette not a real coloratura nor a lyric soprano yet - this instrument is extremely light and bright! It would not hurt for her to add more body to her sound together with a decent amount of squillo. I am not saying to sing louder but with more squillo and ring! Also if she is trully passionate about Bel Canto as she says, she most have pure chest voice too and it needs to be resonant and develop to the max. She has no chest voice! Look up coloratura soprano Tetrazzini, her chest voice was bigger than any mezzo soprano today. I’m not making up lies so chest voice is absolutely necessary for any voice, especially for Italian Bel Canto, hola!!!!!
