I think, It's just Minnie's daydream after reading the red book 'c'est la vie'. This video shows her in a different situation in violence to one woman who's' Minnie'. She wants the love really deeply but that love isn't like she wants. She found the guy abused 4 girls and they escaped or solve the circumstances in different ways. So Minnie decided to escape from the guy. Then the head shot is not real. Just erase him in her mind. ( I think like that because they wear the white outfit in intro and outro and the red book, they act in different roles). The video and lyrics have many symbols to interpret. Someone said M/V is the real Dometic abuse, the guy is the serial killer. Miyeon died because she drowned so her spirit then wandered around the pond likewise Yuqi was pushed down the stairs to death. Soyeon was strangled at the wall. Shuhua dies in the car.So their spirit is still trapped at the place they died. the flowers held by Yuqi use in the funeral. Flowers on the wallpaper and inside the car are flowers used to visit the grave in Korea... They protected Minnie and when Minnie killed the guy then their spirits were free in the end. For this theory I think, Minnie may be possessed by 4 girls to take revenge.😅😅😅 For the song, Miyeon 's vocal is so iconic in this song and Minnie is iconic in M/V but I like Minnie 's screaming high note and her smile after headshot 😅😅😅. They do good acting as usual. Yuqi said she just met the senior actor for the first time but she did so well 😭👍"Eyes Roll" and "Flip It" have the same vibes from the album. I also love Soyeon 's eyes when she holds the knife and Yuqi and Shu are so good in the choreography..
This is the 1st album that they don't write or produce. All songs in this album wrote and produced by the famous American producer under the co-operation between 88 Rising and Cube Ent.
In regards to the I Want That MV...the general consensus is that all of the girls are dead besides Minnie. They were each killed directly or indirectly by the guy (Yuqi pushed down the stairs, Miyeon drowned, Shuhua in the car, Soyeon strangled or shot not sure). Minnie breaks the cycle of abuse by finally giving the guy what he deserves at the end by getting revenge for her and the other members. The biggest evidence that they are dead is the flowers that are in the car with Shuhua are specifically used for funerals in Korea.
The theory on I Want That MV was they all die expect from Minnie since she's the new girl, then Minnie found out what happened to them by reading the diary/book and she started to get the nightmares about how the abuse they suffers from the guy. After Minnie kills the guys, all of their souls (other girls) get freed. I love that some scenes on MV have references to Gone Girls (my favorite book and movie of all time) since it has similar vibe
Great video again :) as others already mentioned this ep was not written by idle. Also all songs are in english because they were written by an english producer (88rising). If one analyzes the songs (be it lyrics, structure, MVs, ...) I think one can clearly see that it's "american taste". The housy vibes, the movie-MVs, lots of fading out in the end, the MVs not exactly matching the lyrics, the chorus was made kinda easy to follow and sing-along, ... Tbh, I love this EP! The whole concept visuals and the girls trying something totally different got me really good and I'd say it's probably my fav EP to date :) but then everything they drop is a mothereffin DROP! 🎉 to me (a yuqi-bias) especially yuqi (surprise) shines in this style of music as she really loves LA and american music in general ❤ but the others k1lled it as well! Miyeon really left me speechless at some parts... A fun little thing about "Tall Trees" - the lines "my expectations stay on low, but you're the sun you make them grow, if there's an axe behind your back just let me know" are kinda sad. Someone is highering their expectations but "if you just want to lie to me/play with me, please tell me now, so I can just leave before I've grown tall". Really makes me cry everytime 💔 having made bad experiences before you get suspicious about everything and trust harder. I think that's something they want to tell as well. A theory on "I want that" is that the other girls d1ed in an abusive relationship and Minnie is taking revenge. That's why she is alone on the boat in the end. But there are other interpretations as well :) also: the girls are ACTRESSES DAMN! I love their acting so much! Thank you for pointing it out 🎉 if you like Shuhua's acting you will love one of the MVs for (2) 👌 the queens are queening and I'm here for it!
HEAT was their first full English EP, and their first non-self produced album. It’s sort of experimental but still hits really hard. I think I DO is one of my favourite idle tracks ever.
Thank you! I'm glad you're enjoying it! We got really lucky that the comeback landed here, when we started, they hadn't announced yet, now I'm super pumped!
88rising is a record label that focuses on promoting Asian music in the US market. They've previously worked with BiBi, Jackson Wang, Chungha, Lexie Liu and a few other names you might have heard of from that scene. The album ended up being somewhat of a mixed bag, as a lot of die-hard Idle fans don't care for it, and it didn't sell amazingly well, but "I Do" charted in the top 20s on American radio for a few months and it got Idle on the Jingle Ball tour, which is fairly significant. I don't know of a great individual cut of "I Want That," but this fancam of their set at the Head in the Clouds music festival in New York has a pretty good group shot of all of their performances, including "I Want That": ruclips.net/video/B25Fhb29NSA/видео.html
poor minnie was extremely extremely sick in that i want that performance😭😭 she almost passed out after the performance and looked so pale and sick people were sending trucks to cube!! she did so well for how sick she was ☹️☹️
Another great video! For me, I feel like Miyeon really shined in Heat. Her on the bridges were so amazing especially on I Want That. I think Tall Trees is my favorite song. I don't believe any of the girls wrote or composed this album because it was their first English EP.
This was a special ep for the american market, a collab with 88Rising. That is why it is ALL in english. They didnt write any of the songs this time because of that. Songwriters included people like Lindgreen, Ryan Tedder, Megan Trainor and Jonathan Bellion. Despite that, the structure of the album is not that disimilar to a Soyeon produced album, and the songs fit them like a glove. Not only that, but despite it all, the influence and taste of this albums is certainly apparent in both "2" and Yuqi´s solo in more than one aspect. I Do did very well on the american radio, so that they were invited to perform to Jingle Ball at the end of the year... which was a disaster. Not performance wise, they were great. But they had to take a flight the same night after performing at MAMA for 7 performances in 7 american cities. MInnie was sick for most of it, having to leave mid perforamnce once. By the end of the year two of the girls had to go to the hospital and they were sick during that period to the point of cancelling several promos for 2, which came out late January. By february Shuhua took almost a month of sick leave.
There are many good quality and see all members in Chicago (December 4th), Detroit (December 5th), Boston (December 10th), Washington DC (December 11th) and Philadelphia (December 12th) But Minnie had to leave in 😊 because she was not good condition.
Soyeon for sure has excellent vocals, I think people hear her rap tone and just assume that she’s going to sound the same when she sings and it’s just clearly different
the only thing these producers did better than soyeon was the usage of miyeon. they actually gave her moments to shine as main vocal. but those were some bangers for sure
Soyeon seriously needs to learn background vocals & adlibs from them cuz I always think that's what is missing from Idle songs like it's not that hard to give miyeon her adlibs moments 😭
It is a collab album... It means, none of this song are from the girls... or well, something like that. And it is fully english aswell. Not my fav album. But i do is great! :D
The only thing the producers exceeded Soyeon is giving Miyeon some strong lines....Soyeon really needs to give Miyeon some high notes and adlibs....she can do it too... she totally has the potential...the only thing Soyeon needs to do is to give her more lines... like she's the main vocalist, but she sometimes gets less lines even than Yuqi and even Soyeon... I'm not a hater... I'm a die hard fan...but this is the only thing Soyeon lacks... just use Miyeon's vocals a little more Like in oh my god, tomboy and nxde Miyeon got less or equal lines like Yuqi though she's the main vocalist I'm a Yuqi and Miyeon bias...but still it hurts
I guess I'm just biased towards idle song writing, but I can't listen to this album, it just seems so shallow and lacking in musicality. I do is pretty good, but not enough to hold up the album for me. I'm glad some people enjoyed the album though because I hope they release more English songs in the future when they are inclined to write them. Anyway thanks for the reaction. 2 is gonna be spicy!

Someone mentioned that theory and I think it's super interesting!
Can't wait for them to perform Eyes roll at least once. It is one of my favorite songs.
Exactly...that song could've gone viral if released by famous western artist
I do agree however that miyeon absolutely killed it

loving this i-dle discography speedrun before the comeback :D thank you for your thoughtful reactions

Minnie does the high note in "iwant that" at the heads in the cloud performance this year.

The "NYC Skyline" performance for "I Do" was my fave for this promotion.
It's SO good! it's kinda insane
(G)I-DLE 🫶🌹😍❤️🔥
Great reaction 😁👍
You will love them more if you see their did flashmob in New York in the early era of them.❤
I'll have to check it out!

Miyeon era
Miyeon was fire
'I Do': I've seen more than a few who claim that Soyeon can't sing. After hearing this song... I must beg to differ.
Soyeon for sure has excellent vocals, I think people hear her rap tone and just assume that she’s going to sound the same when she sings and it’s just clearly different

For I want that, you can check SonicAwareness4k ‘s HITC2024 fancam in NYC where GIDLE was the headliner. The video is in 4k
It is a collab album... It means, none of this song are from the girls... or well, something like that. And it is fully english aswell. Not my fav album. But i do is great! :D
i know minnie is your bias but what about your bias wrecker or wreckers? by the way great reaction as always
My wreckers are Yuqi and then Soyeon, though I’ve been wrecked by everyone at least once or twice 😂 thank you! 😊
Like in oh my god, tomboy and nxde Miyeon got less or equal lines like Yuqi though she's the main vocalist
I'm a Yuqi and Miyeon bias...but still it hurts
Are ypu reacting to the recording sessions of nxde and queencard?
I plan to get to behind the scenes content after the deep dive wraps up!
