We just had our 1 year anniversary with our Horizon. Put over 10K miles on her already. Nothing has come apart, loosened up, separated, leaked, failed, or disappointed us at all. It is perfect for us as a retired couple chasing the wonders of America with our cat, Chloe. You are getting a high quality unit that will last forever with VERY simple maintenance. Best of luck, and Never Stop Exploring!
I was a forest river addict and wanted to get a R POD 180 until I saw what else was on the market, the sticker price scares me, now I am thinking about a 2023 Sol Horizon.
For the price we thing the Horizon is the best cost to quality buy in the market right now. Sure you can get bigger/more featured campers out there, but the quality is worth it. Our Rpod leaked from day one and in the end it was falling apart from it. I dont expect that to happen with out Horizon. Good Luck. If you have any other questions please let us know.
Make sure you are ok with the weights, especially with the outside kitchen option. Your remaining cargo will be surprisingly low. Especially with propane and water on board.
@@wanderingfireflies sounds good. Intech sol seems to have a lot to offer. Keep in mind the dry weight on the spec sheet *might* be for the rover package but it will not include any of the other options such as second propane bottle, awning, or especially the outdoor kitchen. It’s nothing against Intech, these light campers have to stay light somehow, it’s just something to be aware of. I know that the Intech horizon is especially a low cargo, high tongue weight trailer relatively speaking of course.
@@Elessar762 This would be my first camper/RV purchase so I’m not really understanding this weight calculation. This camper has a heavy tongue weight at around 495 lbs but my max vehicle tongue weight, I keep getting different weight amounts. Some say 350 lbs and some say max of 500 lbs. I’m so confused. What if it is 350 lbs, would this mean my vehicle is not going to be able to tow this camper? I know my vehicle can tow max 5000 lbs but I’m not sure about the tongue weight. I’m getting the 2023 Honda Passport, V6 engine, AWD. I’m just not sure I should even be looking at this camper with my vehicle. I was planning on getting the Rover package with the outdoor kitchen. 🤷🏻♀️
@@monicae67 if your tow vehicle is rated for 5,000 then the hitch is most likely rated for at least 500. However, I doubt anyone would suggest much towing at those full weights. I’m not an expert in any of this. Doing our own research currently. My planned tow vehicle has similar characteristics as yours. We are considering the Sol Dawn. I have seen articles and reviews from other owners of the horizon. They reported very low available Cargo capacity, under 300 lbs. every trailer can be different depending on build characteristics and options. Remember, most of the time, the weights listed on the website of the manufacturer are approximations and are almost always based on an empty base unit before upgrades and options. Same with tongue weight. When the camper is loaded for a trip the tongue will be heavier and that depends on where in the camper the weight is. Bottom line, in my opinion, if you are so close to the limits of your tow vehicles that is it coming down to within 50 lbs on the tongue, or 500 on the gross trailer weight, it is probably a good idea to look for a different camper or different tow vehicles. Regardless, I would always want my tow vehicle to be much heavier than the trailer no matter what. I highly suggest joining some Facebook Sol Horizon owners groups and ask some questions about their experiences and real life trailer weights. I’m not an expert but I hope this is helpful.
Hi, from Vancouver Canada - found your channel by accident looking up the Intech Sol. I saw these at a local RV place in Abbotsford and it looks great!! Super quality!! But ouch!! the price!!! My partner and I want to pick one up, but we'll have to save up a bit. Once question I have is around the beautiful big glass window! How do you protect it from flying rocks and such?
When we purchased ours it came with it. I’m not entirely sure if it comes with it or if you need to purchase it, but the cover protects it during travel. It does a great job. If you have any other questions you can dm me anytime. Good luck. It’s totally worth it!!
I have been l looking at all those little campers. I have recently found intech and have been impressed so far. I will be following you guys. How much is the weight dry and fully loaded. Love the tuxedo cat. Beautiful.
Thanks for Watching! The GVWR weight is 4000 lbs. The tongue weight is 650 lbs, so make sure that your Tow Vehicle if your looking for one make sure that it can handle not only the GVWR but that heavy tongue weight! If you have any other questions please throw them at us.
My wife and I have been looking at Escape 19 trailers. Then we ran across Intech trailers. Now we are researching the Horizon 19. I'm just curious why you did not choose the Escape 19, in particular. I'm sure we will find a dealer and inspect an Intech in person before making a final decision. People sure love their Intech trailers, which intrigues us all the more. We don't want to have buyers remorse, Thanks for any help you, or anyone else, can be.
Wen we first started on this journey to replace our old rPod 172 it was my singular desire to get a full fiberglass trailer like the escape. We researched the HELL out or it and Oliver among others. In the end it came down to time and money. Money a little less but still. It was going to take around a year to get into an escape or Oliver because of supply chain issues. It might be a little better now, but we are in the middle of planning a HUGE trek out west and we wanted our camper so we could do some warm up this spring in preparation. One other reason we couldn't choose it is because we could never see one in person, and I never buy anything without feeling it out first. No matter how many youtube videos we watch. We had the luck to go to a semi-local dealer of inTech and honestly we fell in love with the quality for the cost. We did make a few compromises to get it, but we gained a few things also. We will have a video coming out soon about the Cortes camper we were able to see at the Lexington RV show and while it was SUPER cute, it would not be for us and we are happy with our decision. We are heading to the Indianapolis RV show tomorrow and I know a Intech dealer will be there if you want to see one. Let me know if you need any more advice.
The fry weight is roughly 3350 and the max is around 4000. Does not have a lot for storage but 600+ lbs is fine for our stuff. Will make us be creative. Thanks for the support and let us know if you have any questions or something you would like to see on a future video.
The only problem you may run into with the passport is Tongue weight. Tongue weight on ours unloaded is 524 lbs. We were strongly considering the Passport ourselves but the more I looked at the weights I would rather pull with something a little bigger, for safety. a vehicle that can tow at least 6000 lbs would be safer.
524 lbs? I wonder why that is. The website shows it less. 🤷🏻♀️The numbers I see are inconsistent. I can’t seem to get straight answers. I’ve seen posts that say they had the same towing capacity as mine and they had the anti-sway and WD equipment added and they were good. 🤷🏻♀️
@@monicae67Ours is the Rover Edition which might be the difference in the tongue weight. We were surprised about the tongue weight when we got it also. You also have to keep in mind that is without 40 lbs of propane in the tans and if you are using a WDH which can add up to 100 lbs depending on which one you get. So many factors to consider. WDH hitches do not reduce the weight on the tongue or hitch. It mearly distributes the pressure evenly across all of the axles. I know that seems a little backwards, but I have researched the crap out of this subject for the very same reason you are and thats what every good source says.
Just curious, how do you feel about the rpod in general? I understand that you had an older rpod but the new 2023 models look nice in my opinion. The Horizon is my front runner but I’m still open to other makes and models. I was actually looking at the rpod 190. I just feel the Horizon though I really like it, is still missing certain things. In my previous post, my dilemma was my vehicle but since then we decided to cancel the Honda and decided to go with the Nissan Pathfinder that has a larger towing capacity.
As a previous rPod owner I can say that we purchased it because of price and size. At the time we wanted something we could pull with our Hyundai Sant Fe and all of our gear for a 3 week trip with our family of 5 (3 small kids). It did its job, for the most part. We had leak problems right off the bat and they eventually made it unusable. At this point I do not trust what I call JAYCO made trailers. I am not saying they cant be good, but I got burned by poor build quality and materials. Thats why we decided on the Horizon. I completely understand why you would like the 190. It looks very spacious and has more amenities, and I wish we had more in the Horizon. The proof in the quality falls to your feet, literally. When you step into a JAYCO build camper you can feel the floor move under your feet. This really bothers us. When you get in the Horizon, the floor is solid. The walls are solid. Everything is solid. As far as vehicles, we were on the verge of getting a Pathfinder as our tow vehicle also. It WILL technically handle the weight, but it is a little close to the maximum tongue weight GVWR especially when you include a Weight Distribution Hitch like we plan too. Those can weight up to 100+ lbs by themselves depending on the one you choose. We are probably going with an Anderson WDH. It weighs almost half the weight and is way easier to use, but costs a lot more. I hope I maybe was able to answer your question. Let me know if you have any more questions. We will have videos coming out about upgrades and changes we are making to the horizon soon.
Enough said! No rpod for us!! I do agree that there is something about the material that did make me wonder about the built quality. I did like some features that it had that the Horizon doesn’t but in the long run, the additional features won’t matter if the quality built is not good. I thank you for your feedback!! It does help us with our first ever RV purchase. 😂 Ultimately, we narrowed it down to 2 campers, the Airstream Caravel 16RB and the Horizon. 👏
Nice set up, enjoy.
Thanks.. We will enjoy every second once the weather allows us too. lol
I’m sold!! Best of luck to you both!! Happy travels! 😂
Thanks for watching. Glad we can help. More videos coming soon!
We have had our Horizon for a little over a year now and we love it!
Hope you enjoy yours as much as we do!
We completely expect it too! Happy to be part of the sol family!
Thank I want one of these

That queen bed is boxed in on three sides, difficult to make and requires someone to crawl over their partner.
Yes it is. One of the drawbacks, but you would have to move up to a much bigger camper to get away from that. Worth that inconvenience.
