You need to cool the cake down completely before cutting into it. If you try to cut hot cake, it will definitely crumble. Also, if you over baked the cake, it will crumble.

Hi, I tried this recipe, it rose well but then dropped, also it was a little crumbly. It tastes really good & baked well too. Could you please tell what could be the reason of the sudden fall, also the glaze tasted a bit bitter. Is it supposed to be like that?
Reasons for the cake falling - 1. Sudden drop in the temperature of the oven by opening the oven door or power failure. 2. Leavening agents are old / expired 3. Over mixing of the batter The cake is supposed to be crumbly. You need to cool it down absolutely completely before you cut into it, otherwise you risk breaking it. The orange syrup is not supposed to taste bitter. Did you book the Zest? Did you take the white part of the fruit along with the Zest.
@@smritisspecial 1 & 2 did not happen for sure, over mixing could have happened though I only used a hand beater. I did cut it only when it had completely cooled, coz I’d read the comments before attempting the recipe but nevertheless will try again keeping these pointers in mind. Thank you
Hello Chef, The cake is super delicious, made it yesterday and the house smelled all citrusy and fresh. I wanted to ask 1 is the quantity of butter 180g a bit on the higher side 2 My cake overflowed while baking. I had baked in 8inch bundt pan 2/3rd filled. please guide
All qty mentioned are correct. If the cake overflowed, either than pan wasn't correct or the BS was accidentally measured more than reqd. Or the oven heated up more than the given temp.
That means it is not cooked through. Bake in the middle rack with both rods and fan on. Let it bake completely before taking it off the oven. Check with a skewer.

Yes please don't use oil instead of butter. They're two different fats. It won't work.

Try! They have added sugar so afjust the sugar in the recipe accordingly. Nothing beats fresh though.
Is the orange powder is from whole oranges or from peel?
It's just Orange zest which is Dried and frozen. You can use fresh Orange zest

If I wish to substitute jaggery for sugar what is the proportion and does it change the texture of the cake
It would completely change the texture and make the cake very dense. You need to use a different recipe to work with Jaggery.

Hello Smriti, today I baked orange cake after coking it’s gone down from middle
