- Here's an F1 onboard lap at one of the oldest racing circuits in the world, the Brooklands circuit in Surrey, England. This Formula 1 hotlap is driven in Assetto Corsa with Lewis Hamilton in his F1 2020 Mercedes W11.
Brooklands was a racing circuit and aerodrome that was also the world's first purpose-built banked motor racing circuit that opened in 1907.
The track saw multiple events and many lap record attempts. Brooklands had its last race in 1939, after which it closed down.
Parts of the circuit still remain today and forms the Brooklands Museum
What do you think of this historic circuit?

Indeed
If the Life L190 was to lap this track, it won't even take ½ a lap for its W12 engine to blow up
i don't think i that way, yes ferrari are not fast but they are very reliable because last year with the POWAAAA they were reliable but now that they have anything they are certenly more reliable that no one
I volunteer at the museum here! Sadly the track itself has a business park built over most of it, but there’s a big chunk that still exists, and any museum visitors can walk on it! There’s also a simulator there, in a shed full of old F1 cars (my job is to look after these cars and teach younger kids about them). So yeah, this track has a special place in my heart. Unfortunately I can’t volunteer at the moment due to COVID, but I can’t wait to go back :)
EDIT: Forgot to mention that Brooklands was also the place where they built the Hawker Hurricane, BAE Hawk and the Harrier Jump Jet among other things!
Although this track looks easy to a modern F1 car, it used to be a real challenge in older cars with very little grip and just rear drum brakes.
That's so cool to hear, I really hope hope I can visit the museum one day. I heard there's some parts of the track that still exist as well. Have you tried the simulator? What's that like?
@@Mitsos1311 The simulator is pretty old now, but still very unique - it’s set up in the cockpit of Lewis Hamilton’s 2007 McLaren (the whole car is there so it’s pretty impressive just as a showpiece) using Fanatec Clubsport Pedals and a decent wheel base (I don’t know what base it is exactly, as it’s hidden in the car), and the steering wheel is the exact steering wheel used by Hamilton in 2007. I believe the software is RFactor One, so the visuals are very bad but, with better software, it would be an extremely high-level simulator. Best part is, it’s completely free!
Thats actually insane, I would never imagine they had the 2007 McLaren and Hamiltons wheel for the simulator, I definitely have to visit now haha. What about the retro F1 cars, whats the oldest they have?
@@Mitsos1311 i know right! I believe the oldest Grand Prix car they have is from 1912 (called the Vieux Charles II). They also have Senna’s MP4/6 and a Jordan EJ11.
Amazing bro
Me to the FIA: What grade is this circuit?
FIA: 69
Lol
Formula1_fan I’ve been to this circuit and it stopped racing just before ww2, I really hope he does the full circuit and not just the outer layout
The FIA don’t grade ovals anyway, as they don’t sanction any oval series
@@jonathanlund2456 Its a joke
nice
The birthplace of motor racing.
The birthplace of motor racing was the first place two cars met. The birthday was five seconds after those cars met.
I really love modern f1 cars in classic tracks
You and me both my friend
Imagine if they still raced on how the track is now, having to negotiate the Tesco’s and the housing estate.
It would be nuts that
I think that this is one of your easiest video you've ever made. Also there's something unusual on your thumbnail's.
Ayrton senna aint driving the car
Thank you the support, I fixed the thumbnail, that was my mistake
@@Mitsos1311 Thank you for that!
@@Mitsos1311 does this track also used to be race track ?
@@Bncxx1275 First ever
Pirelli tires would explode after one lap
*Michelin
@@listerstormablecartoonandt1103 after the Azerbaijan GP is pireli anyway. Michelin exploded on the banking section , pireli on the straight.
Daytona mixes with Trenton lol
Also this was 2 years before IMS was constructed, so technically this was the worlds very first superspeedway!
Technically no because it has a right hand kink on the frontstretch
@@shappah221 yeah. Would be cool to see it rebuilt. Call it Brooklands International Superspeedway. Would attract IndyCar, NASCAR, and maybe f1
I’ve been here a few times, and there’s absolutely no way that it’s being rebuilt. Also, I doubt IndyCar would use this layout as an oval, as it’s just too steep.
@@jonathanlund2456 I meant rebuilt in a different location. Like an old aerodome or retired airbase. Somewhere large enough, flat enough, and in close proximity to the London area
@@_slickerzentertainment6397 personally i would like to see a speedway built like this - a bit of on odd right corner makes it interesting and add a bit of character

Great job bro, I like the idea of making videos on tracks before F1 was born.
Amazing job!!!
Now just imagine if a NASCAR stock car around this.
You can download and race this track in nr2003.
Yeah. Or maybe an IndyCar even
I remember an episode of 'James May's Toy Stories' where he used Scalextric to rebuild this circuit.
Are we gonna talk about the fact that this circuit is

Engine after 5 laps: k a b o o m?
Yes engine, kaboom
Nice video! It's incredible that even these circuits have mods, I wonder if a similar track from Spain called Terramar is in Assetto Corsa 🤔
MITSOS in the first place, change the name of the driver in the video link because Ayrton Senna is appearing, but Hamilton is really the one who drives. Although it does not matter to me one or the other since Ayrton could appear in more videos. Secondly, this was one of the most requested race tracks here if I remember. Since F1 cars are not made for oval circuits, I believe that in reality they could be even faster. And finally on this track: I believe that if this race still existed today, it would be as much or more traditional than the Indy 500. Nice video 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you for correcting me Eduardo, I was in a rush as I was making a thumbnail for the Londrina video as well, look forward to it
This was a really fun circuit and I only came across it by chance, hoping I can do more of the ones that are requested a lot
Suggestion: F1 race at Daytona: how will it work out?
Edit: The Superpseedway itself
@@ceruleanvaporeon3570 both
It’s giving me 2009-2011 Indycar vibes😭😭
I love that you put the average speed
Might be a one-off but could include it in more videos if people like it
@@Mitsos1311 Small details make a big difference 😉
@@Mitsos1311 I also agree that it is very interesting information to have. If you could somehow put it in all the previous videos too, without bringing any or very little work to you, it would be really cool !! I would definitely watch it all over again 😃 !! If not, from now on I am in favor of continuing 👍🏻😄
@@eholanda01 I would have to redo the videos in that case, but it might be cool to start redoing tracks from my first videos where the quality wasn't as good, let me know what you think
@@Mitsos1311 in that case, there is no need to redo all the work. Save it for the new ones. The old videos are pretty cool, maybe the only one I remember when the graphics weren't so cool would be El Villicum in Argentina. But the rest are very cool, there is no need for changes 👍🏻

oh nice I've stood on that banking

Niceeee
Now this is F1 racing in an oval track. Plus I didn't know that this track even existed. Plus 30 degrees of banking on the track this must be the granddaddy of all superspeedways unlike Talladega and Daytona in Nascar. Really I'm really amazed by this track overall. 360km of high speeds really is what racing flat out wide open throttle is all about. Plus this makes it as one of the fastest ovals in motorsport racing history not only for the world but also in my opinion as well as my lifetime experience watching racing for probably 20 years but this one really takes both Daytona International Speedway and Talladega Superspeedway and puts them both to shame. I mean really.
Dega and Daytona are 31°
@@shappah221 Yeah but what I meant was that this track really was much more wide open space around the track than Daytona and just about the same or a little more space to move around than Talladega.
@@markdemars7044 yeah but one mistake and you’re off to the moon lol
