  • Imam Al-Ghazali's Ihya Ulum al-Din (The Revival of the Religious Sciences) is a monumental work in Islamic spirituality and ethics. Divided into four quarters-Acts of Worship, Norms of Daily Life, Qualities Leading to Perdition, and Qualities Leading to Salvation-it integrates Islamic jurisprudence, theology, and Sufism into a comprehensive guide for living a spiritually fulfilling life.
The Book of Knowledge (Kitab al-Ilm) is the opening chapter of this magnum opus. It sets the foundation for the entire work by emphasizing the pivotal role of knowledge in Islam, distinguishing between beneficial and harmful knowledge, and exploring the ethics of learning and teaching. Positioned at the start, it serves as the gateway to understanding the core themes of Ihya Ulum al-Din, underscoring that all actions and practices are built upon sound and sincere knowledge.
