Britt Baker is the new CM Punk. There simply is no difference. Britt Baker is a favorite of Tony Khan, and she uses and abuses that privilege to keep herself over and stab other wrestlers in the back to preserve her spot. Just like every big star before and after her. The same thing can be said about CM Punk in AEW. Punk's history of drama also goes hand-in-and as to why he is an all-time great.

In AEW, CM Punk had to go away for a while, a couple times, and he returned with a list of Opps that included Kenny Omega, Adam Page, Jack Perry, The Young Bucks and way too many enemies to count. Cousin Phil's real name might as well be Britt Brooks. And Britt Baker might as well be CM DMD.
I recently polled you, the sexy PWB subscriber the same question about Britt Baker and CM Punk as to whether or not they were problem children in AEW. Most of you took Punk's side and said he was NOT, but then you flipped the script when it came to Britt and said that she's a problem child in AEW.
Hol' Up. So when Britt Baker gets into a heated argument with MJF and Alicia Atout and has competitive backstage heat with a score of wrestlers, she's a problem child. But CM Punk punched his co-workers on multiple occasions. He had people banned from Collision. Cousin Phil cut shoot promos at press conferences, and on David Zaslav's television, yet he's just misunderstood.

I wonder why CM Punk is celebrated like a revolutionary for wrecking AEW's locker room like Terrell Owens in his prime, but when Britt Baker does the same damn thing on some pro wrestling sh!t, she's just a witch who needs to know her place in Daily's Place. Part of that's tribalism due to what companies they work in, I get it, but fans aren't the only ones falling for this double standard. AEW's Tony Khan suspended everyone within a 10 mile radius of the All Out. I got suspended for writing about it. But recently, Khan suspended Britt Baker but not MJF.
I have nothing but respect for CM Punk, MJF and Britt Baker. In my eyes, they're all-time greats. But Being an all-time great wrestler also means being an all-time great pain in the ass. It's a job requirement of being the best in the world. Pro wrestling is a business that breeds paranoia and preys on fragile egos. It rewards alpha dogs. It celebrates back-stabbers. If you want to get to the top of the mountain and-more importantly-stay there, you need to carry yourself like a star at all times. That means work as little as possible, for the most amount of money as possible, don't do jobs and the No. 1 rule of being a top star: Don't Trust Anybody.
I completely sympathize with the plight of the pro wrestler. They're in an industry run by skeevy promoters looking to eat you up and spit you out. Insurance? How bout a hot dog and a handshake. No athlete in the world gets taken advantage of more than pro wrestlers, so it's paramount for them to protect themselves over everybody. That means lying, cheating and stealing your way to the top RIP Eddie. It also means pro wrestling rewards problem children.
Sh!t, I got to the top of the wrestling media by being a problem child as an outspoken Black man who says what he thinks, 10 toes down, about the industry that I love all while bigging up my people in ways nobody has done before me. Sometimes, maybe I'll get frisky and leak the Fast Nationals so the streets know what the rating were a little early, because I'm sorry, hiding the fast national rating to protect that poor billionaire Tony Khan and All Elite Whining, is every bit as bias as leaking them.

Drawing has nothing to do with any of this. It's about being a top star. Britt is a Top Star in AEW. This is indisputable. It's no coincidence that she's also known to be difficult to deal with. It's no different from CM Punk. In fact, CM Punk was an even bigger pain in the ass in AEW but he gets the benefit of the doubt because he's been around longer and male privilege doesn't hurt :)

This isn't about who's right and who's wrong. Everybody will rely on their own set of facts to decide this. All I'm saying is Britt Baker's shenanigans are no different than CM Punk. Any smoke Britt gets for being a problem child should also be given to CM Punk. But the truth is, I have no problem with either of them being pains in the asses. It's what you have to be to get to the top of a toxic business.
@@ProWrestlingBits but they are different. The majority of Punk's feud was with one group of people who were friends of the person who he had real-life beef with and took on that battle with him. Some people sided with Punk but didn't like how he dealt with it. Britt is seemingly feuding with too many people who don't have any correlation with each other(outside of Atout and MJF) and she doesn't have the Cache or star power to back it up.

I'm not here to litigate why Punk punched who. I'm only saying every top star is a polarizing figure, and that's not a coincidence. Britt Baker is actually a lesser version of CM Punk but she gets more heat because she's a woman in a male-dominated business. But, in reality, CM Punk and Britt Baker are the same person.

Gotta say, this take isn't it. With CM Punk, he was reacting to his own colleagues big timing him. You may think he overreacted, or that the actions of most of the Elite were overblown, but it was a reaction to something someone else started. Not the case with Britt. Maybe it'll come out one day that she got done dirty like Punk was, but right now there's nothing pointing to that. The only way the comparison works is if you look at the presence of "drama" without actually looking critically at it.
Judging by his responses to comments, his argument boils down to "stop picking on Britt cuz that's sexist (andalsoithinksheshot)" and relies on the AEW-stan alternate universe version of the All In footage. Pretty sure Britt could deliberately injure someone and he'd defend it along the same lines.

1. Britt and MJF are not CLOSE to Punks level. Thats not conjucture thats based on numbers, draws, merch and name recognition. In the same way comparing Ospreay to Cena "best" by wrestling in ring Ospreay, best by EVERY other metric Cena.
2. Comparing yourself to a top guy in the wrestling industry when you are a journalist is beyond weird, thats literal Russo stuff.

I love how you claim to talk about facts when this whole thing is 90% opinion and how you decided to run the "punk started it cause hes the worst" narritive as gospel AND the "Britt started it" Narrative at the exact same time, despite claiming not wanting tribalism within the community. The issue isn’t any of these people, it’s their company culture. When you have the same cycles repeating with a different cast of characters, at a certain point, you’ve gotta look to the leadership. TK isn’t a manager, he’s a fan. He’s created a culture where the inmates are running the asylum.
Not even saying it’s a wrong way to be. A company where the performers have a lot of freedom can work for some people. But if that’s how you want to run things, you’ve gotta be okay with the fact that it’s not gonna work for some people. Look at someone like Punk. He’s gone from being frustrated, and lashing out, to being a company man who’s practically been anointed as the head of talent development and booker of NXT in waiting.
Different people thrive in different environments, and that’s fine, but at that point, at minimum, you’ve gotta be willing to let go of some of those who aren’t built for that kind of environment, even if they are some of your personal favourites.
Apparently Punk begged TK to be released on multiple occasions, because it wasn’t working, and was rebuffed, because TK likes Phil Brooks. Feels like maybe the same is true for Baker. You don’t need to be best friends to work together, but you need someone who is going to shut down the drama if you’re going to have a fruitful workplace long term.
I genuinely think, TK needs to step back from some things. He needs to bring in a head booker. He needs to bring in a general manager and head of talent relations. If he wants to be best friends with the wrestlers, and more power to him if he does, he needs someone else to lay down the law, someone to drive the business side, and someone to spearhead the creative direction. Otherwise, you end up just spinning your wheels trying to keep everyone happy.

Well said. That's why I have no problem with Britt Baker OR CM Punk. The problems come from the top. Tony's lack of leadership is why Britt and Punk were able to get away with these issues and still be top stars under Tony's watch.

Britt Baker is a star to a niche audience of wrestling fans. Beyond that she’s relatively unknown.
Don’t forget it was Tiny’s idea to do separate shows even though Punk was asking him for a release. Hangman went on national tv & went into business for himself against CM Punk. All Punk did is defend himself whether it was the right thing or the wrong thing.

I can name five wrestlers who wasn't a problem child and they still made it to the top.
1: Sting - Sting wasn't a problem child and he made it to the top. A lot of guys in the back respect Sting and he didn't have no problem going out there and doing the j o b.

I think you’re choosing to ignore that Britt did in fact use her pull to strong arm for years in this company. It’s also only recent that MJF has issues with Britt cus he used to kneel to her often when she was accused of being a locker room bully the first few times. Punk on the other hand like we don’t have any proof of him strong arming his way at the top or actively trying to keep stars from being at the top of the card. His issues are mostly reactionary to what the elite did. The situations aren’t comparable, punk has hardly EVER been in the position to abuse backstage influence, especially considering he worked with prime cena for years, in aew he was undeniably their biggest draw, and after that confrontation with the elite he wanted out. Then tk gave him a show and he just went yeah fuck those guys who don’t wanna meet and resolve issues, so he had them banned from collision because if someone doesn’t wanna talk about the problem it probably means they want to continue instigating the issue, it was the right move. Meanwhile Britt? She just bullies wrestlers, actively suggests putting them lower in the card and refuses to put over people on her level, meanwhile punk would CONSISTENTLY work with people to heighten their profile in the company.
