- On today’s video we finally get to drive the VR6 MK6! So much tome and efford went into this special furst drive. We also dive a little deeper into wiring info and whatnot, as well as some footage from tbe final assembly!

Man fantastic job brother! As a mechanic of 20+ years I can honestly say that the attention to detail and quality of work you've done on this build is about as good as it gets! You have yourself a fantastic engine and you will love It! I had a 2010 Touareg with the 3.6 VR6 that was recently totaled from a red light runner (RIP Touareg). I bought it several years ago with around 50,000 miles on the clock and it was about a week away from hitting 200,000 when it got wrecked. The thing has hauled my family all over the country from coast to coast and never let us down one time. Aside from religious 4000 mile oil changes the only "repairs" I ever had to do to it was the #4 ignition coil at about 140,000 and the valve cover gasket at 160,000...changed the factory spark plugs out at that same time. That car was so good to us and we loved it so much that we replaced it with a low milage 3.6 2020 Atlas. It was a pretty quick engine in the Touareg and still has plenty of pep in a bigger much heavier Atlas. I bet having a 3.6 in your little car is an absolute blast especially with a manual transmission!!!

Thanks man! I appreciate the kind words. The 3.6 is a beast. A fantastic engine with not many issues, and very easy to work on in my opinion. What’s funny is the car is slower now. The old TSI had a k04 strapped onto it with a very spicy tune. I don’t care though. The sounds more than make up for it.

Awesome job sir. I have a 2000 jetta vr6 12v as a daily and i just love the sound. I have done all the major maintenance stuff like timing chain, water pump with aluminum fins, aluminun crack pipe, aluminum thermostat housing. So i should be good for a while. I bought witg 177k miles just about 202k miles

Can u produce a fresh mil spec wire for this swap with a donor engine from touareg?Mean just buy it from u and we just put the engine n plug the wiring harness to work with current gti wiring which needed…we plan to run this engine with dq500
Unfortunately it’s not viable since 1) every car is going to vary a bit in the wiring, and 2) there’s no bulkhead for the engine portion of the body harness, it snakes into the entire interior/chassis. The best route is to repin/rewire the engine portion of the body harness like I did.

I never pulled those schematics because my car already had that wiring (my GTI was already a manual). I just had to make sure it was still fused when I swapped over to the Passat fuse box.

The back part of exhaust is it suitcase mufflers back there or just y pipe to quad tips?

Hey man, I'm sorry to bother. Can you please let me know where you got the ECU/ECM wiring pinouts? Like what the wire in pin 64 is for. I'll appreciate it.
I had a friend at a local dealer get me my factory diagrams but you can get a 1-day subscription to ElsaWin and get all your diagrams that way too.
What ECU are you asking about T94/64 on? The BLV Passat or the GTI?
@@Ninety4co oh okay, I'm trying to swap a swap a BVZ engine for a CDLA and I'm struggling to find ECU pinouts for both ECUs of these engines.
On pin 64 I was just making an example. I need to get ECU pinouts which are complete so I can know what each wire is for on both ECUs.

Yes. I’d start with prodemand or alldata diagrams. They’re very easy to follow. Once you get a feel for tracing things, revert to the Elsa diagrams. Since you can compare/know where some stuff goes, you’ll begin to understand how VW maps their diagrams.

The stock Passat 3.6 ecu
I did this swap in my 07 GTI , but added a turbo kit from HPA. Along with an LSD. You must be using Prozac or something, because I was never this calm during the process! 🤣😎👍🫵🏼
