The fact you are not a good jumper is why you are the only mountain biker channel I watch who has not been seriously injured. You make it okay to ride without wrecking ourselves. Thank you.
Exactly my thoughts as well! Vast majority of mine and friends significant crashes have happened in parks or just overall higher risk situations. But hey, some people love the rush, each to his own.
I’d rather bike xc all my life in nature than get sidelined with a major injury going big in a park for months.
@@emp6325 I mean there’s ways to progress safely for sure, but I’d say learning to jump gives you the bike handling skills to avoid a lot of crashes that would’ve happened otherwise
Nate Hills
I think its because he is just more risk adverse than most others. Seeing as he does not have the "Just send it" mentality. That can be a good thing, as you said, it keeps you from killing yourself by taking chances.
I love how I'm reading this comment with a broken neck from hitting dirt jumps
I love the way you had both of you mic’d up! Hearing both of you talking in real time added to the video exponentially.
Yes I agree. This was a really nice touch!
You should try to get some more follow cam shots of you in your videos, it is nice to see your style from a third person perspective.
I totally agree! That was pretty cool!
It's why I love Nate Hills's channel so much - not only do you get to see very technical, amazing trails, but also world-class riders' techniques. It's cool to see how different say, Jeff Kendall-Weed and James Weingarten ride. Equally shredding it, though.
I also agree!
Loved that footage so much and really shows how good of a rider he is!
All the more respect for Rich allowing you to post his wreck. Not just a great teacher but also a real guy. Great video!
I couldn’t even believe that was Brian when he was following him!! Such big progress!!
It was so rad! Such a fun afternoon and I'm excited to Brian's progress moving forward!
@@richdrewtherideseries yes he is awesome!! I want you to teach me how to jump better!
Brain has cleaned way bigger drops on natural terrain when he just reacts and doesn't have to think.
Like night and day honestly hope he keeps working at it!
I'm now interested in taking Drew's clinic.
I"m also interested in you taking it Jim ;)
Not easy putting yourself out there like that for everyone to see. Much respect and you did fantastic. Thanks.
Well this explains all the jumping and airtime I seen you getting while riding with ya. Rich is an excellent sensei.
CAW CAW
As someone on the verge of learning to jump, It’s great to see the process.
Haha even Drew's skandi wipeout had MASSIVE style. Brian you're doing such a great job in your progression, great to see it! Forgot to mention - loving the two mic setup with the RODE.
I’m always trying to bring the style 🤦🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️.
That was the b line.
@@richdrewtherideseries ...I seriously thought you were going to go full Jeff Kendall Weed and manual around the left hander, and over the bridge. Would have been epic!! Did not see the "manual to over berm into brushpile" coming, but it definitely added some spice to the video. Coming in HOT!! I thought maybe Brian was going to need the jaws of life to get you extracted for a second there! No one throw a match!! :-)
@@willbros1499 JKW crashes more when he doesn't manual. LOL He should just switch to a unicycle.
I was thinking: “he’s showboating WAY too much”...and then off the trail
Dude, so pumped to see how well you progressed!! I’m excited for it to keep building for years to come 👊🏻👊🏻
I need some coach Drew next time in NWA
Jumping is like a golf swing. If you develop bad habits, it is harder to correct, than if you never picked up a club. Rich is right. Good vid and nice progression Brian.
I was thinking the SAME exact thing. As a huge golf enthusiast and MTB enthusiast I can absolutely relate the 2. When it comes to technicality and thoughts in the process. Be it a Drive/Chip/Putt or Drop/Jump/Berm.
So well said. Before I saw your comment I was thinking, the farthest I ever hit a golf ball it felt effortless, but when I tried it was garbage.
@@RequiemDead Only difference is when you whiff at golf, everybody laughs. When you whiff on a jump, people are screaming "you okay!!"
@@petedog9581 Lol so true! The feeling is still the same, total embarrassment. Either your ego will be bruised or your body...Sometimes both!
@@petedog9581 ya then followed by laughing if you say yes 🤣🤣🤣
I feel you, I really need a clinic like this. Love this video!
Come on out to Bentonville!!
Man it’s awesome. U check ur ego and just wanna be a better rider. Inspiration to us weekend warriors.
We need to give Sarah some props too. She looked really comfortable and relaxed on the jumps.
She was landing to flat on some of them too.
@@s14tat "too" flat. Who are you, Brandon Semenuk? Thanks for the advice, sport.
@@petedog9581 that was actually a compliment that she was over jumping the jump. That's a good problem to have.
@@s14tat You own the most unique mtb terminology in the sport then. Over jumping leads to bucks and falls. Any man made jump has designed landing zone.
@@petedog9581 yes I am aware that over jumping is really bad in some cases. I was giving her a compliment that she is boosting the jump so much that she almost over shot the landing, hence the term landing to flat. It's not a made up term. Yes I am aware it's way bad to over shoot a landing of a drop or on a big jump but it's a good problem to have vs not clearing a double or a dirt jump or a road gap. As someone who is still working on boosting the jumps to go higher and farther, I wish I had that problem.
Rich was doing nice manuals down the trail before the fishtail crash so respect
A bit too much manual 🤦🏻♂️. That’s what I get for trying to peacock a bit 🤷🏻♂️
this is one of your best videos yet. thanks for making it. i too have years of bad habits that need to be shed. this is very inspirational.
I learnt how to jump, i throught i have to stay still and the bike will do all the work
Thank you so much man
Wanted to say the new dual-mic setup is awesome! And great video dude!
I’ve been wanting to take his class! Great instructor
We would love to have you out to one! 👊🏻
Looks like you'll be ready for A-Line on your next visit!
I know I've ribbed you over your inability to jump but this video made me so stoked for your future vids. Learning to jump will open up new lines and possibilities. And he'll new trails to ride.
Great video! I've watched you hate your jumping for what feels like years. Awesome that you took this on and it was helpful for my own poor jumping skills as well. And watching Dude overcook that berm was priceless!!
It was my favorite part of the video Jacob ;)
WOW Brian! You really put yourself down too much; walk with your head held real high... you're a real shredder, man, and you've even got tons of style! It's unbelieveable, the follow cam is really eye-opening... keep it up, LOVE your videos!
jumping is really 50% skill and 50% mental battle. I came to understand this one day when i said fuck it and went for it, so now i need the 50% skill part lol.
what a great video! encourages everyone who is mediocre or beginning, primarily because of the honesty and transparency and outstanding teacher. no pretense here, all the struggles are included.
I've seen Rich Drew featured on other channels, and I've got a lot of respect for his coaching style. I wish he was more accessible to me, but being in Florida he's not really nearby. And I don't do well trying to watch videos and then learning because I need that immediate feedback like what he's giving you.
By the way, I really like that you have audio from multiple sources going. I think it truly adds to the quality of your videos. These are starting to feel more documentary-like. Like something I'd see on Discovery or something. Keep it up!
We'd certainly love to get to Florida at some point!
Great video with great information, the sound quality between both riders was excellent.
Really rad, like them couching skills from Drew and the progression. Ill be using some of this skills on my jumps.
👊🏻
Great video! Had no idea I’d see you both together. I’ve been watching both of you separately and this was a pleasant surprise!
Took a lot of guts to put this kind of content out there. Way to go, loved the instruction and encouragement you got. My hat is off to both of you.
Thanks William! It was awesome to see Brian put in so much work.
Very cool. While I'd probably benefit from a Ride Series clinic, I'd really like to have Rain get in one and document her progress.
Lets make it happen dude!!
@@richdrewtherideseries we’re in. I’ll look at your schedule!
Today I take my trail (instead of my winter full rigid) and motivate myself hitting some dirty jumps, the only available near home, and clearly I have to load more !!! Thx for the tip Brian 😉 And what a nice place to ride, as usual. Thx again
I JUST watched the Rich Drew video and clicked refresh and here is your vid. AWESOME!
That sounds like a pretty awesome moment!
@@richdrewtherideseries Bro, it was absolutely incredible! Can we get a Manual to Scandi Flick redemption?! lol
Rich Drew is such a great coach.
That a boy! Can’t wait to ride with you again , maybe on some jump trails.
He might be ready for that after this trip!
How's that knee? I can't wait to see you push that EVO harder and the full review.
AWESOME watching you progress!!!!
Wow! That's one of the most stylish crash and locked in burns I've ever had the pleasure of seeing. Great session!
Stress less, ride more! Ride smart, stay safe..
Thanks for sharing the lesson!
Nice work, enjoying the teaching along with the video.
I feel your struggle man. The wife and I have been working on jumps for years and we still feel like passengers on our bikes. Chunk or drops are no problem, but jumps....ugh..anytime I start feeling like I'm getting it, I start casing or nosediving jumps and getting that sinking feeling with each and every jump. It's so difficult to overcome years of fighting the lip of jumps. I'm sick of getting that depressed feeling after hitting a flow trail at a bike park. I hope you eventually figure it out, then I'll know there's hope for us too. Wishing you the best of luck. 😁👍
This is dope, it's all about progression, whatever level you're at. Nice video buddy.
Dude thats pretty cool that we could hear his mic, even when not on camera.
My 2 favorite channels. Got back into mtb after 25 years. Gonna have to take this course with RD!
Fair play to you Brian .
You don't let ego get in the way of a great video.
Respect
This coach is awesome
Thanks Joe!
This was awesome to watch! Great work. Cheers.
Dude... bravo man! Just waiting that half second off the take off and being a tad more patient is helping you so much! Great work gentleman 🤘🏼 one small step at a time and huge gains already 💯🕶
Awesome job man! It took me hundreds of reps hitting a jump over and over.... And I still have a ton to learn. But it’s so much fun when you finally clear a proper gap.
You said it man, it’s those reps that build progression and confidence.
Just got to keep at it its repetition again and again! But also being able to ride w people a little better than you is a huge help!
@@ononewheel7 agree 100%
Brian, so good to see you doing this. I've struggled with jumps and I've also struggled watching you miss or pass by jumps in your videos. I'm sure you have to be extra safe to avoid injury and down time so this looked like a really safe way to get your jumping foundation built. I can't imagine the pressure you may feel with so many eyes watching you and wanting you to be able to Do It All and Do It All BIG!. Oh....and you need to go back to Berm Peak and knock out all of those features! (No Pressure!)
glad to see you got training from the best man in town!
I sincerely appreciate your vulnerability on this topic
Man, I was so looking forward to this video, and it didn't disappoint! Awesome progression, BK!
Crazy how far you've skilled up since your first Bentonville video!
You and me both!
Watching Rich stuff it was the best part. That trail is a lot like Flow Coaster here, can't wait until things open up and we can ride again!
My issue is using my arms a bit too much, this is great advice! Thanks for the mic work, it makes a big difference to be able to hear what he has to say as he coached you. Good stuff!
i felt really bad for the coach when he fell. great video brian!!!
Don’t feel bad, it happens to all of us. I certainly didn’t feel bad.
There's no better feeling then leaving the trail knowing you've leveled up, confidence up and just can't wait to send it
Great job Killa ! It's only a matter of time now. You'll be showing out soon.
That's exactly where I went to build confidence with my jumping when I moved here in January. Love the trails over there, too. Nicely done, Brian!
Finally Up been waiting for this Brian! Get them wings! Dr. Drew is amazing! Liked and shared as always!
"Dr. Drew," I like that ;)
This video made me happy, super glad you were able to get with the maestro and getting to were you want to be! Congrats bud!
Jumping is so much fun I say to most just send it but you’re doing it the right way can’t wait to see bkxc flying through the air more
Yo the dual mic setup worked great!!! I cant wait to have that happen more often. Nice job with the vid and it was great to see the progression!!
This is awesome! New rider here and I love seeing this real learning process!!
Stop focusing on the fear we always crash, just pre-load and fly away, love the progression bro and Sarah he's catching you, sister. :)
Looking good dude! Cool seeing you progress during the vid!
Good to see you finally jumping now the fun really starts 🙌🏼🙌🏼🤘🏽
This is so cool - there was so much progression in a single video!
I had the same experience where my jumping greatly improved once I started letting my legs do the work. Once it clicks, it really does feel effortless.
Awesome to see progress and some new confidence. We all have a weakness or two and facing that and working to get better is always rewarding. Great vid as always.
What's kinda cool is that not only is he your coach, but that he's also your jump-psychiatrist as well. Cool take. Nice vid. Thanks!
I saw this clinic near me this weekend. I wish i knew it was going on, id have definitely signed up!
Happy to see you feeling confident in jumping Brian!
The preload is everything! A local junior high kid named Riley worked with me for like an hour and a half at the bottom of All-American when I was in Bentonville and he helped me get a good preload and good pop at the lip. it made all the difference in the world!
Dude! So much fun to watch the progression in this video. This was one of the best you've done. Hearing tips from Rich and listening to his feedback from both mics, it made for a great video. When is Part 2!?
Nice Baumgartner Restoration reference (16:52) there at the end.🖌🎨🖼 😁 I heard you mention that channel in your live stream and I've been enjoying those videos. Great job with the jump progression. 💪👍 I hope to make it to one of Rich Drew's clinics sometime soon. I'm not too far away from Bentonville.
Love seeing you work on this skill. Every time I watch your videos I can't tell if you are going big or not. Turns out your skills in jumping (and possibly overall on the bike) are just like mine. I can't wait to see you progress in this category.
Congrats! Great progress and really helpful for me, a non-jumper :)
So freakin awesome to see you enjoying jumping. You're such an awesome rider but to see you struggle and dog on yourself in bike park vids was such a downer. Now, i can't wait to see you hit Whistler, Trestle or some of the parks in CA. Do me and yourself a huge favor and rent a DH bike for your next park ride. It'll take your jumping up even another level. Then, you'll easily transition into the same feeling on your Ripmo the next time you jump on it. I was so excited to see this vid...keep shreddin!
+BKXC good to meet ya last week on All American just keep at it. The trails and design here in NWA have made me a better rider.
That was a fucking great video! Love watching the progression. More of you and Rich!
Congrats Brian, strong work, I know the struggle, I’m right there with you man
This is GREAT! Being reminded of the "learning process" always helps put things into perspective. Thanks for your work - Love of the sport & advocacy!
iam so stoked 4u i can feel ur emotion as u send the first table....feels so good with a smooth landing ;) now u will" double" the fun on trails..
What an improvement!! at first you jumped like I do but now you are on another whole level :)
Me too...
Me three...
So cool to see you progress so quickly by doing rep after rep! Makes me want to go and session some jumps!
You can hear the difference in the tires when you were jumping well. Nicely done!
Firstly congrats on improving. Seeing you at the start I never realized how bad you actually were at jumping. Clearly, 80% was a mental block, keep at it man you are looking way better! Love it brother
So good Brian....I can fully relate to your jump issues....so cool to see the improvement.
Two of my favorite guys!
Heck yeah Lan!!
@@richdrewtherideseries I’d like to see you repeat that tree encounter. It happens to me a lot but I’m not sure I’m doing it right.
Rich is awesome. And his son is too cute. What a great opportunity you had to get all those jump reps. We expect a lot more jumping steez in your future videos. 😁
Good job, getting familiar with jumping can get frustrating at times! Before long you will look back and wonder why it was so difficult!
Bravo!
Great video - very impressive progress!
Well done Brian. I've never been able to jump very well and I've been mountain biking since the 90's. Expert tuition has certainly helped you, maybe I should try it too.
Awesome, nice progression! Rich is the best!
That was awesome! Definitely made me think about how I jump too. Excited to see how it changes your riding!
Nice work Brian! By the end your were flicking and adding little tweaks in. The rest of your game is super solid so you are going to be very well rounded. I think that you should just have Sarah tow you into all the jump lines and you'll be fine, She was very impressive and almost landing to flat in you and Rich's Vid's...
So cool! Good job doing much better! NW Arkansas! My mom is from N Little Rock.
Brian and Rich together! I like it!
Haha, thanks Erick! It was fun!
Thats a win win win! Good to see u taking to the nxt level.
pain and pleasure🤙🚵♂️
Sick getting to see you progress like that 👊🏼
I agree!
awesome vid... Rich is legit, just did one of his ride series classes a few weeks ago.
