Patti, I've really enjoyed you being on Ed's podcast and him being on yours. The candor expressed by both of you about the state of the Giants adds context to the decisions made and to be made. One thing really hit me from the situation the GM & HC are in, is how much they need to sign a veteran QB during free agency. This is because the pressure to produce (so they keep their jobs) will be too much to put on a kid playing in the NFL for the first time. They might be better off taking a day 2 pick and drafting someone like Jaxson Dart to be developed into their QB2, but run with a veteran as their QB1. Something else that hit me is how difficult it will be to find experienced coaching with the GM & HC facing dismissal by this time next year. There isn't much job security for these new hires either, so perhaps many candidates may choose to stay away until the Giants situation settles down. It's just not a good situation for coaches and players all the way around. Thanks for listening and for all of your hard work in support of our team!
One more thought. It's not just "the quarterback draft choice" that will dictate the '25 season. It's the next two QBs - the veteran to be signed and the draft pick.
Thanks for your thoughts and prayers on the Ca fires…. Live about 25 miles NW from the Pacific Palisades. Hopefully we’ll recover and our depressing Giants can turn around their constant losing.
I can remember when Fassel was accused of running his team like a country club (no accountability, etc) and how the talk after his firing was "the giants need a strict disciplinarian... aka Tom Coughlin) to straighten the team out"... and Coughlin did that when he came in and was criticized for that by the players to the point where Coughlin had to change his style to a more "likable" demeanor. Daboll must become a better HC whatever form that takes because he surely doesn't look like one now.
Can someone explain how the Giants can expect to have a winning season with possibly a rookie or bridge QB next year with their 2025 schedule? Besides 2 each against Washington and Philly and a likely improved Dallas, they have to play the Chiefs, Broncos, Chargers, Lions, Packers, Vikings, and the 49ers should be back healthy. Patriots, Bears, Raiders, Saints, are the only weak opponents, and should also be improved. So if they win every one of those games (possible, but likely?) and get a couple of division wins that’s 6 wins optimistically. Is that enough for Mara? Unfortunately that 2026 Rd1 pick is likely to be top 5 again. I prefer consistency and don’t want to keep changing HC and GM. 4th HC since Coughlin. Impatience isn’t working. Mara has to stay the course with Daboll and Schoen through 2026. If they don’t make the playoffs and even get a playoff win by then, clean house.
Well, it's at least a division-wide suppression. Washington, Philly and Dallas has to play all of those teams too, and their record probably won't be as good as this season. Plus, you never really know in advance just which teams will be good anyway. Look at the Vikings this season. They weren't expected to be any good with Darnold. And the 49ers weren't supposed to miss the offs. I agree with your general point when it comes to just how hot seats are. It's just difficult to project schedules this early. Teams are very rarely the same year after year. Philly slumped last season, and they sort of slumped in the first quarter of this season. Hit teams at the right time and anything can happen. Maybe the Giants win ten games next year?
As I said in the previous days post in my sample scenario, if another bad start or bad season means that Mara would fire Brian that he should’ve fired him now because you can’t have Bryan pick potentially a quarterback that he wants or even players that he wants and then try to bring in another coach who wants something completely different.
I still struggle to find any rationale for the tear-down of the successful.22 team. Some FA signings were downright great and then jettisoned. In light of the past two seasons, the stats, the injuries, the collapses and optics... it just doesn't make sense. 😢
Get Fields no matter what, if we can't get one of the top 2 QBs take Travis Hunter. Then we pick the best available QB in the second round and work with him
The Giants should make WR Tetairoa McMillan. With his size and speed he'll give who ever the next QB is. Depending on how fast the QB's are coming off the board I'd like the Giants to draft DT Tyleik Williams, or OG Wyatt Milum, round #3 the Giants should draft their QB here. I want Will Howard. There probably will be bigger names out there namely Jalen Milroe. He's more of an athlete than a QB at this stage. If they feel confident that there may be a few QB choices on the board, how about a RB. Yeah, RB Kaleb Johnson.
If you listen the exit interviews seems like the players have a bigger problem with Shoen than dable, if I was 3 and 14 I wouldn’t be happy with myself and the coaching staff either
Ed is 100 percent right we have to draft a young QB and sit him until the offense becomes more stable meaning the O Line because we have skilled players
Jones is trash no matter who the GM or the coach was he should've never been drafted period and definitely should have not been given that money and contract
I’m happy….we need consistency, can’t keep firing and firing….every body was happy with joes draft….injuries and players not performing not his fault….. it takes years to build a good team….
Oh, I have a whole list of stuff that is objectively his fault, LOL. You got your wish to the fact that a bad GM got to keep his job and will continue to ruin this team further just like you want because you don't like the optics of people being fired, even though Schoen has proved how objectively bad he is at his job😏
If they’ve drafted a QB and signed a backup capable of being a bridge, yes. 6 wins, there will be enough signs of progress for an all-in push in 2026. I see 26 as their last chance-make the playoffs, or you’re fired.
If they're thinking of drafting Hunter they can't sign Slayton. Hunter is only worth #3 if he plays CB and WR and that takes even more quality tgts away from Slayton. Slayton deserves 100 tgts he got 71 but a lot weren't catchable. 39 rec 570yd 2TD. I think Slayton walks.
The Giants are proven horrible talent evaluaters, and I said it in the beginning they mismanaged the players , they don’t have a clue how to use there skill set

Always a great show when Ed is on!
great show with Ed

Maybe he should go bowling with the players like Coughlin did.
@margaretjiantonio939 I'd be taking the OL out to dinner every week.

Patrica I would never play hide and seek with someone like you because someone like you is hard to find

I think they get two years. Win 6-7 games with a future QB and a bridge for this season, then go all in on 2026.
They spent so much time on Daniel Jones that they should've found another QB instead of giving Jones that big contract.
Will Johnson, Jaxson Dart, and biggest Defensive Tackle available with the 3rd
The o line was better this year than when Saquon was there so that comment made no sense
When Thomas got hurt, that’s when it fell apart. Before then, it looked the best it’s been in years-not fixed, but stable.
So what if they go 6-11 next season, is that now defined as progress? 4 years into a rebuild?
If they have a rookie QB and a bridge vet? Yes. Then 2026 will be viewed as their last chance.
I still struggle to find any rationale for the tear-down of the successful.22 team. Some FA signings were downright great and then jettisoned. In light of the past two seasons, the stats, the injuries, the collapses and optics... it just doesn't make sense. 😢
Most used sports phrase in 2024? Bang the table 😊.
"Trust the process"

FACTS
I don’t think Daboll and Schoen are changing the culture they’re ruining it
Your talking about the position the team put Daniel jones in what about the position Daniel Jones put the fans watching this mess
I’m happy….we need consistency, can’t keep firing and firing….every body was happy with joes draft….injuries and players not performing not his fault….. it takes years to build a good team….
We're getting worse each yr. Not just the record but the amt of talent.

Tommy Gabagool Cutlets will be QB1 in 2025 with his agent running the show
He's not good
@ fan base chose him and his clown agent in 2023

Is your salary a full 6 figures from the Giants organization? I'm just curious!

Giants going in the 🚽
No they shouldn’t have survived this fiasco especially Brian Daboll with all the stuff from the previous season
And yet another reason why Mara is a terrible owner.
Tisch is worse. Dude’s an absentee dad at this rate. Mara at least won two rings like Wellington.
Justin fields
